Its August and I am reading...
Yeah - I third that.
I used to love Brave New World. But I think 1984 might have been better. I don't know though. It's been a loooong time since I read BNW.
His little mantra of "fuck the reader" is so cutting edge,so progressive, and innovative.....hmmm NOT. Pretension pisses me off!
I think the thing about Transgressive fiction is it's the Punk Rock of the literary world. Just about anyone can do it but very few can sincerly do it right. You got your Black Flags and then you got your Good Charolettes, you have your Ballards and Palahniuks and then you have your Suglias.
You shit on these nukkas two times Dr.Dre?
Oh Fo' Sho'!
Got to finish Tropic of Cancer soon so I can get started on Moab is My Washpot by Stephen Fry
Please man,do not rush Henry Miller! Read slowly and absorb. I bet Henry Miller's grocery lists were profound. Mentioning Miller's name in the same scentence with the likes of Dan Brown borders on literary blasphemy. If this is your first time reading Tropic of Cancer you are so lucky right now, enjoy..to paraphrase from memory(I apologize if I screwed it up) from Tropic of Cancer..
" It is not difficult to be alone if you are poor and a failure. An artist is always alone-if he is an artist. No,what the artist needs is loneliness"

theres a (slight) chance i might be going to hell- by Laurie Notaro... i got it at the thrift store for 1.99... so far its not as interesting as the title.
i'm a terrible person, in more ways than one.
The Boy With The Cuckoo Clock Heart by Mathias Malzieu.
Harolds End by JT le Roy
and Once Were Cops by Ken Bruen.
Whence Came the Sparrows by Ernest Hemmingway
Protecting the Gift : Keeping Children and Teenagers Safe (and Parents Sane), by Gavin de Becker

I'm 3/4 way through Fight Club and then fancy reading Haunted.
There is no proper way to cope, no everlasting grace.
Just a flame on a river floating away.
The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas.
Paradise by Koji Suzuki.
Wolves of Calla by Stephen King
Child of God by Cormac Mccarthy

I (finally) finished reading Everyman, by Phillip Roth. It's pretty good, really poignant. I'd be interested in reading some of his other stuff, my local library has The Plot Against America, but there's a few other things I want to read first. One of them is Invisible Cities, by Italo Calvino. I've read the first half of it and I'm impressed.
!
Good Benito-Alan Lightman
Now, it's onto Violence by Slavoj Zizek.
Zizek!
Everytime i see his name, i need to exclaim it! It's so bizarre looking. I was also going to say, Hey, Phil! Look! because he'll tell you everything you need to know about Zizek[!].
It won't be long until I finish I Play The Drums In A Band Called Okay. It's an entertaining book.
I can't waaait to start on The Kindly Ones by Jonathan Littell.
well because of the suggestions from many on this site my next book is Kiss Me Judas..Plus my friend mailed me 3 other books....so i sorta feel obligated to read them...
Once i'm done with those....and if i remember i shall take your advice!!
On a scale of 1 to awesome I'm the sh*t.
Well, boo-hoo! I do not feel sorry for you.
i liked the book...didn't like the ending....wish the opposite would have happened...
On a scale of 1 to awesome I'm the sh*t.
