Ishmael by Daniel Quinn
Has anyone read this book? i have heard good things about it and i wanna know if its mostly philosophical or is it an actual story.
Yes, Ishmael does not have the exciting story of a Chucky P. book, however, after reading Ishmael one finds the supposedly revolutionary ideas in Chuck's books are fucking child's play.
Everyone should read Ishmael. If it didn't change your view of mother culture and show you that everything you know is a lie, then you must've read a different book.
By the way, the ape is a literary tool, you fucktard.
Yeah, I've read it. It's more philosophy than story. I thought it was mildly entertaining, but found Ishmael himself just to be a pretentious ass of a monkey. Ape. Whatever. Didn't strike me as the profound piece of literature that everyone said it was. I'd say if you're interested in philosophy, go with Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenence or something like that. If you're looking for psychic monkeys, there's gotta be something else out there that'll float your boat.
I second everything here. It's easy to get into but the book as a whole is not very memorable.
