Infinite Summer.
The Challenge:
Join endurance bibliophiles from around the world in reading Infinite Jest over the summer of 2009, June 21st to September 22nd. A thousand pages* ÷ 92 days = 75 pages a week. No sweat.
*Plus endnotes (A lot of them.)
I've been wanting to read this book for some time. Janes says it changed her life. Anybody else interested in participating in this?

Ive been reading it now for a week or so--about three hundred pages in, and its absolutely fantastic. Not much to say besides that. Go get a copy now.
I am glad to see any effort to have this book read, although I think reading it at a casual 75 per week will take away from the effect. It was about 200 pages before I could distinguish some of the supporting ETA characters because there were so many of them, and if it took my like three weeks to get there then I don't know if I ever would have.
i doubt i'd be able to slow myself to seventy-five a week, i'll be well finished with the novel before the planned date. it's nice to see people taking initiative to get people to overcome their fears of scary, weapon sized books though

I will be reading this one for Infinite Summer. I'm one of the 'Cheaters', I picked up the book about a month ago and read the first two or three chapters and then stuck it near the top of the TBR pile (I had to finish Crooked Little Vein and Demon Theory first).
The two or three chapters I read were wicked good.
I'm always on the lookout for these quirky little literary books. Now, if only Amazon.com will cough up my copy of Heartsick I will be a happy guy.
