I need a book
My wife is having her labor induction Sunday night and the process is about 12 hours.
I really need a book. A little bit funny. A little bit tragic. One I won't want to put down. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

You could try "Magical Thinking" by Augusten Burroughs, especialy good if you can get the audiobook from the library.
Have you tried any of the Christopher Moore stuff?
Island of the Sequined Love Nun is good.
His most recent was rushed and a bit sloppy, and he admits it. But several of the earlier ones are funny and good and laugh-out-loud at times.
edit: looks like he has a new one...."You Suck, A Love Story"
Ah! I'm not the only Moore fan here, love him.

In my eyes the perfect example of "a little bit funny, a little bit tragic" is Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. The movie is depressing and the book is quite tragic, but it is also very funny. McCourt has a great voice and the way he words things is priceless.

I suggest the King James version of the Bible.
