My friend and mentor, the writer Levi Asher (propietor of the popular - and first! - website ever built to focus on the lives of Beat Generation authors, Literary Kicks (www.litkicks.com), had a real sharp piece on author scandales, and how to avoid them, published in the UK Guardian Unlimited:
