Harry Potter Lexicon Trivia Extravaganza!
Ok, so this isn't a place where we debate if Harry Potter is better or worse than Twilight, because we all know it's better. This isn't a thread where we discuss anything other than Intense, EXTREME Harry Potter Trivia. No haters please. I don't want to hear why you don't like Harry Potter, because I don't care.
It will work like this. I will ask a question. It will be hard, and you will have to have read the books a bazillion times to know it. No Looking it up. If you get it right, and you would like to, post a harry potter related trivia question, and the person who get's that one right will ask the next question. GO.
In how many books do we get to actually hear the sorting hat's opening song? Names of the books please.

I think you are correct. What is your question?

Name the seven obstacles in the chapter Through the Trapdoor(book 1) and the professor that set up each one.
"A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary propensity toward fanaticism." -Carl Sagan
"Am I cruel? Probably. Is she an idiot? Yes." -jane s.
I don't know all the professors, but I remember:
1. Devil's Snare
2. Keys on the broomstick
3. Chess set
4. Riddle with the bottles
5. Mirror of Erised
Was the two-headed dog one of them? And I'm missing an obstacle.
There is hope, but not for us.
Yes, Fluffy counts as number 1.

Also, you're missing number 5.

In the seventh Book, when Ron comes back, and they are trying to figure out the password to listen in to the secret radio station, what is the password that Ron finally figures out?

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
Are we allowed to look in the actual books?
"A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary propensity toward fanaticism." -Carl Sagan
"Am I cruel? Probably. Is she an idiot? Yes." -jane s.
pff, no! The password is a name. i'll give you that.

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
Dumbledore? I want to say that was it but that seems far to easy.
anyway, what was the item mentioned in Harry's first ever potion lesson and was it ever used at any point in any of the other books?
You mean a bezoar? And yes it was used on Ron's birthday in year 6. Too easy.
Now, name all of Dumbledore's immediate family members.
"A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary propensity toward fanaticism." -Carl Sagan
"Am I cruel? Probably. Is she an idiot? Yes." -jane s.
*sigh* the password was Albus.
Ariana his sister,
Aberforth his brother,
Kendra his mother,
and I can't for the life of me think of the father. Is it Wolfrick? Or something in his full name?

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
ppplllp
show offs
What food stuffs did Vernon Dursley take in the boat with him in book one?
Canned tomatoes?

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
Uncle Vernon takes at least some packs of potato crisps, (chips to us Americans), because they try to light a fire with the empty packs.
damn. I know they have canned tomatoes at the hotel they stay at before they go on the boat though.

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
What's 'Ginny' short for?
Genevera of course

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
Spelling, dude. Minus 5 points. Ginevra with an 'I'. But we'll give you the question because maybe your fingers are sleepy.
I actually don't even remember myself. I just thought I'd throw something ridiculously random and maybe difficult out there to prove I knew how to pose a difficult question (you guy's said my first question was too easy)
I asked my son who has read all the books at least a dozen times and he said "Potato Chips, Vernon lit a fire with the bags later... I don't remember if there was anything else."
whoa, got some attitude. I thought my spelling was off, but I forbid myself from looking it up.
Here's your question, skip:
what wood is Hermione's wand made of?

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
UMMMMM..... Let me just type it out-WHA?!?---**Levi bursts through the window and chloroforms Steve.**
"A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary propensity toward fanaticism." -Carl Sagan
"Am I cruel? Probably. Is she an idiot? Yes." -jane s.
Me toosies.
I don't believe it actually says in the books. Harry's is holly, isn't it? Draco's is blackthorn, I think. Lily's is willow, I'm pretty sure. Hagrid's was oak? Voldemort's is yew.
well, it's vine. but your others are correct.

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
Which books is it in and where is it? I defer to your superior knowledge of trivia in this matter.
It was in an interview by J.K. Rowling. It's based on Hermione's Birth Month, which is september 19th.

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
Leviathan, King of Potterdom!
I know this might be a really easy one, but I read HP a couple of weeks ago, the last one. And I could not for the life of me remember what a Squib is.
What's a Squib?
You sir are a master.
Rowling toyed with the idea of a Weasley joining Slytherin, then discarded it. What was the character's name, background and which book would said character have appeared in?
I assume you're majoring in Harry Potter there at school?
Sarah, it's a non-magical person born to wizard parents. They can see and experience some or most (?) things involving magic, like seeing Dementors, but cannot actually use magic.
They cannot see Dementors.

well, all I can think of is the Weasley Cousin that she was going to create for the 5th or 6th book.....I forget which....It was a female character and she was gonna use her for telling harry and ron about something from the outside world, but I don't recall the exact details.
Don't be such a dick. I don't know everything, and neither do you.

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
A squib is a person born to magical parents who displays no magical powers of his or her own. Argus Filch is rumored to be one.
I apologize. I'm not meaning to be one. I was just having fun. I love Harry Potter trivia.
They cannot see Dementors.
Ah, I was thinking of Arabella, but I guess she only knew what it was because she knew the feeling, having grown up in the magical world.
I should probably reread these books sometime...
well, i was getting defensive as well, and trying to outdo you. All is forgiven.
Now your question:
What's the name of the Ice Cream Place in Diagon Alley? and who owns it?

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
Fortescue's... I don't know the full name. damnit.
Owned by Florian Fortescue.?
Florean Fortesque.
Spelling doesn't count, right?
