Hard or soft? how do you want it?
Seen a few remarks in various threads about people waiting for paperbacks to get books. Should that be a criteria for book club selections? Do a lot of people have aversion to paying more for hardcovers?
On one hand, that would limit the club's ability to jump on a hot new book. And some books don't make it to paperback. But if it meant more people participating, might be worth it.
Thoughts?
I work retail and get 40% off books
I buy hardcovers whenever possible, but I don't participate in this forum, so...
by the way, does anyone know when the February book is coming out in paperback?
I perfere hardcover and I don't pay for my books.
I'm a paperback person.
I'll buy hardcover books if I have too, but also if I can wait a year to get paperback I'll wait a year.
I haven't even read Diary yet, since it's not in paperback yet.

You should order it from the UK or Australia. The only versions there are soft. My Diary was a softcover

I usually buy paperback if it's out, usually it's all that's available. Except for Chuck's books...I have Lullaby, F&R and Diary in hardback because there's no way I was waiting for the paperback ones to come out.
It's not a huge deal for me though, money wise. Even though I don't have much of it (and even less in the past couple weeks w/ hospital bills that will be coming in). Because I can usually find books in the library if I can't afford or don't want to buy them. Or my parents will buy it for me if I ask them. And then if I get really desperate, I'm sure I could get it on interlibrary loan or something.
Brand new books seem to be the only criteria I think should limit the month's pick because of access in other countries.
soft. for some reason those seem to cost more in the used section of amazon, which will continue to boggle me.

college has a better library than my hometown, but older books would be better....

Yeah, but shipping would kinda cancel out the money I saved from buying paperback. Thank though.
I might want to order the UK verisons of the books here in a bit since they all look the same and have a similar cover theme...and I'm a big fan of having 'sets' of things.
either or, i don't purchase the book until i decide that i really want the book, so i get it from the library first.
hardbacks are usually cataloged in library systems, and paperbacks are iffy, making them harder to come across.
Hardcovers often cost less used on Amazon because the publishers "remainder" all of the hardcovers to get them off the shelves for the paperbacks, so they will tell stores they can sell them often times cheaper than the new paperback coming out.
Next book is available in both hardcover and paperback, so guess it won't matter. Although, I got a used hardcover for $2.75, and the used paperbacks were $7, go figure.
I like a book that can fit in my pocket, so I usually go for paperback. Hardcover isn't bad, though, I could really go either way. I'm gonna click "submit" now, before I type anything else that could be considered a sexual reference.
Workshop privileges only.
Kinda the same thing w/ me. I carry mine in my purse. I used to have a bigger purse (that was stolen, damn neighbors), and carried Stephen King's Dreamcatcher around with me when I was reading it. Just about broke my shoulder off. So now, the current bookclub selection (hardcover from library) barely fits in the purse I use now.
But size really shouldn't limit the selections of future book club books. Or price either. Unless for some reason, the book you pick is unavailable in any library around the world and costs $100. But I doubt that will happen.
I won’t be looking to participate in this for another 6 months or longer, but I prefer HC for my books. But if it’s just to read and not to go into my library per say, then a softcover, and save the money it costs for so many books to be purchased.

play hard, like it's work to be done.
I prefer HC because they last longer and my friends always borrow them. But SC is nice because you can flip through the pages and it's not as heavy for S&H.
Hard.
They last longer.
Plus, you get larger cover artwork to look at.
Soft. They take less space on my shelves. And I can carry them around everywhere.

please, please help!
I don't live in the US and I want to get the Diary HC over Amazon, so I just want to know how big it is (lets say in relation to Fugitives and Refugees HC or any of the Softcovers by Chuck)
Thanks so much

i normally would buy a hardcover book, but it really depends on how much cash i have. id prefer paperback, but i don't necessarily think it always has to be that way.
