Future of the Book Club
The last few months have been kind of slow as far as participation in the Book Club discussions. I kind of anticipated this with LitReactor starting up.
So, I'm putting the Book Club here on hold for now.
I'll be running LitReactor's Book Club - so participate in that one if you miss the discussions here. It'll be a good time - I promise!
Donald Ray Pollock's Devil All the Time will be moved to LitReactor and be February's book selection there.
If anybody has any questions - feel free to PM me about them.
Hey sure! No problem.
Right now they are discussing The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides.
Next month's book is As a Machine & Parts by Caleb J. Ross.
I ordered As a Machine & Parts soooooo I'll be over there next month, probably.

Thanks Pete!
Hey of course!
Thanks for the idea Sarah. I think I will sticky a thread up here in a month or two with the current discussion over there.
Damn - I'm away for a few months and everything changes!
Sad to see the Book Club going on hold here, as you guys did so much for me back in July and I really, really appreciate all that.
Anyway, I guess it's about time I checked out this LitReactor thing...
HAPPY NEW YEAR, mates!
Andrez Bergen
A couple o' hack novels out, and upcoming noir/pulp/comicbook thing (Who is Killing the Great Capes of Heropa?)

The Devil All The Time by Donald Ray Pollock is February's book club pick. Discussion starts Feb 15th. Check it here:

Oh, and Donald will be answering questions via email (through Richard Thomas and I). Woot woot!
That's funny, I just started reading it.
Winning!
March's Book Club Pick is My Father's House by Ben Tanzer.

Discussion for The Devil All The Time starts today too.

And Arpil's book is These Dreams of You by Steve Erickson.

You bolded my name like a book. Which makes me feel special.
And yeah, yeah, I'll be there.
Have you started it yet? It's the same Ben Tanzer style from You Can Make Him Like You, but such a different tone. I keep thinking about when my grandpa died. I can't help it!
Me too. And I'm about halfway done.
Discussion officially started for These Dreams of You by Steve Erickson.

Next month's book is We Live Inside You by Jeremy Robert Johnson.

We are voting on June's Book. Thought we'd read a classic and Dakota and I couldn't decide.

I just tie broke your joint.
Can I asked what you picked?
I haven't voted yet. I'm undecided. But I wouldn't mind reading any one of those books.
Thin Man. I haven't read it but I would like to.
Someone voted for Bradbury though and tied it again. Sigh.
Yeah, Richard Thomas did haha.
The Thin Man is great. One of my favorites.
So what are you going to vote? Are you open to peer pressure?
I seriously didn't think Something Wicked would get any votes. I thought Hemingway and Bradbury would be close...
The Thin Man is one of my favorite books, but I've read it already. Same with 1984. I haven't read the others though.
I was going to vote Portrait of the Artist by Joyce. I've only read The Dubliners by him and I loved his style. I've been meaning to read Ulysses, but it's so much to tackle.
I'm reading The Thin Man right now!
It's about some Greek dude who won't put down the drink. I like it.
So I forgot to update this. We're currently discussing Jeremy Robert Johnson's We Live Inside You.

Next month's book (due to an overwhelming landslide vote) The Thin Man by Dashiell Hammett.

I know a lot of you are fans of his first book, so I thought you'd like to know that I chose Andrez Bergen's One Hundred Years of Vicissitude for the December Book Club Selection.

I've yet to get a copy, but I'm really looking forward to it.
I, for one, enjoyed it.
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.
If you've read Andrez's book, or you plan to, you should check out the thread. It's pretty slow. It would be nice to get some more posting in there.

Can you let us know here what's coming up on LitReactor's book club Pete?
Maybe just have one thread where every month you let us know what it will be?
