February 2010, Valentines and I'm reading...
Out of Touch by Brandon Tietz. If you haven't read it, find a copy!
"Plus, if I go too long without writing I start to turn into a real asshole." -misterwoe
"She'll like what she's told to like." -Mo'Don
ANGEL FALLS by this one guy, i think he's mexican.
I've been trying to keep the monkeys and mexicans separate for a coon's age.
Syrup by Max Barry. It's fucking great. I'm hoping to finish it on the train tomorrow.
i always wondered about max barry. i've looked at syrup more times than i can count at the bookshop. may have to give it a try now.
Do it. The only other of his I've read so far is Jennifer Government which is also awesome. I definitely recommend checking them both out.
Jennifer Government was a really fun book.
I'm still working on Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. He's a madhatter with a keyboard.
Can anyone recommend a good Neil Gaiman book to read? I've read some of his graphic novels and Good Omens and I found them fairly enjoyable. Now I'm thinking about tracking down some of his novels but I don't know where to start. I was thinking either Neverwhere or American Gods.
American Gods is much better, i think. More interesting, better characters, all that.
still making my way through Amsterdam. It's really good.

The guy ain't no Mexican! Mexicans don't write like that. He's a PR.

I just finished Snuff now Im working on The roadby Cormac McCarthy. Im only about 10 pages in. Loveing it so far!
I just found American Pastoral by Philip Roth in a closet of mine. Is it worth a read?

Anansi Boys was good. And no, you don't have to read American Gods first.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
FUCK. YES.
I'm still working on Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. He's a madhatter with a keyboard.
I DESPISE THIS BOOK.
But I think Syrup is awesome for obvious reasons.
Y.T. kinda reminds me of you. To me that's a good thing, it might make you angry.
I hardly started slaughterhouse five, just a couple of pages into it. Should I put it off for American Pastoral?

I'd say so. I love both, but American Pastoral beats it every time.
Rant by Chuck Palahniuk.
Almost done.
I liked Company a lot too. I've got Syrup but haven't read it yet.
I read it not that long ago (about a month ago). It was very boring, and the entire book is the main character's speculation about his idol's life. It was such a chore to get through, to be honest. There were a few good bits, though.
I'm starting "The Fountainhead" tomorrow.
okay, I think I'll still try. And I read Atlas Shrugged, so prepared to fall in love with Rand after the fountainhead. I hear it's just as good, if not better

I've read her three other novels, so I'm a bit excited to start "The Fountainhead." I recommend to everyone I meet that they should read "Atlas Shrugged." I absolutely love her writing (though I don't necessarily agree with her economic or social view points).
A Farewell to Arms by Hemingway
and
Angel Falls. Been preoccupied lately with new housemate, dog and The Sopranos, bad friend.
The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman - almost done
Contemplating finishing the Trilogy or starting Under the Dome by Stephen King.
So either finish a 944 page book or start a 1088 page book....
Think for yourself. Question Authority.
The Ice at the Bottom of the World by Mark Richards.

Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson
I loved that book.
I started "The Power of Giving: How Giving Back Enriches Us All". It's kind of new age, but I'm enjoying it very much.
Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill
I loved that book.
I started "The Power of Giving: How Giving Back Enriches Us All". It's kind of new age, but I'm enjoying it very much.

I meant if I had seen that photo of the couple waltzing across a waffle, I would have donned my waffle avatar immediately in tribute.
ah, ok.

Torture The Artist by Joey Goebel.
Franny and Zooey by JD Salinger - timely.
I finished Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris. Some chapters I really enjoyed. Others, mostly about his childhood, I didn't care for much. Started reading Flowers From Hell right away after that and I think it'll be a very interesting read.
Last night I finished The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Unless my next batch of books comes today next up is Ivanhoe.
Last month I read Mansfield Park, Vanity Fair, Great Expectations, Lady Chatterly's Lover, and Breakfast at Tiffany's.

The Barnes and Noble by my house has Beat the Reaper in the Bargain section right now. I think I'm going to pick that up tomorrow after work.
Today I started reading Syrup by Max Barry. I've read Jennifer Government and Company. Loved them both. I've seriously owned Syrup for probably 7 years or so and I don't know why I haven't read it yet.
Hi Levi!

I have just started The Quiet Girl by Peter Hoeg.
Hear the Wind Sing, then Pinball, 1973 by Haruki Murakami.

oddly enough, me too. I was told that the movie was only decent but I really like the book so far, I'm only around 50 pages into it though. I also just got slaughterhouse-five, and feel stupid for waiting this long to read it.
