try foucalt...His book Madness and Civilization is very good, may also be titled The History of Madness.
I couldn't stand Naked Lunch. It's in the top three shittiest books i ever read. But after watching this william gibson doc where he raves about him some I might give the old fart another chance and try some of those essays of his.
Ive read Junkie and really liked it. I couldnt tell my arse from my elbow while reading Naked Lunch so I will save any criticism.

Try some of Burroughs essays, they tend to be overlooked but they open a door to the mans mind that will help when readin some of his novels. Junkie and I hate to say it naked lunch are two of my faves. I've had soft machine or is it parade reccomended to me several times (I always get confused with the Doors album) but am yet to read it.
