Just picked up "Judas." From what I gather I'm either going to like it or hate it. Been on a literary criticism kick. I'm laughing at Deconstructionists.I read some of their theories in college, and I forgot how full of shit they were.

Also rereading reasons to live today and picking up on a lot I missed.

Are will still in December? Or did I miss something?

Not “still” - this is the December 2oo5 thread.
Me, I’m just reading a wonderful little article, “A Look Back: Almost a year ago, George W(anker) Bush assassinated midway through, as he stumbles and fumbles his second-term inaugural address…”

Glad to see someone finally cast their vote with a hollow-point…

Hey Switzerland, you're supposed to be neutral! Go make me some chocolate and a watch. I'd ask for a knife but I'm an American so I already was issued a gun when I turned twelve.

Meanwhile I'm reading:

Vineland by Pynchon

Shanghai: The Rise and Fall of a Decadent City by Stella Dong

Wrong About Japan by Peter Carey

and I finished Pynchon's Mythography by Hume yesterday.

When your president thinks his speech -which he “can’t wait” to deliver- is addressed to the “entire world” and not just the nation that, um, voted for/elected him, neutral gloves are off.

But that said (skim, skim, skim) it states here that the fatal bullet was not silver, nor gold plated…my guess: its colour was “neutral”.

Dig the Pynchon…

I take offense to that. Don't put me in that category of those that voted for him. I'll contract ring worm from the mere thought of it.

And by all means, DON'T stay neutral.

Like Cheney would be a big step up? I mean, a lot of effort was put into 'who' shot JFK, but really, who didn't have a motive? But was LBJ an improvement? Hardly. Great Society, Vietnam, he was a fucking disaster.

Here in Kansas they issue tags for deer, which hunters can purchase, and the number of tags available has a lot to do with deer population as measured by pissed off farmers tired of their Monsanto-engineered crops getting grazed and trampled.

So perhaps a system of tags could be devised for politicians, whereby a quota could be arrived at based on the stupid decisions and harmful actions of politicians, and angry gun nuts could buy licenses to shoot them. What could make an American prouder than to have a Senator from South Dakota tied to the fender of his car? Who wouldn't want to field dress a Speaker of the House?

And with the revenue made off the tags, we could get rid of that pesky income tax. And if the lobbyists get to lippy about the change, maybe we should start selling PAC tags as well...

Ha hah ha h! Do they all have to be angry gun nuts? That would inspire me to take up hunting.

Yeah, I forgot about him.
The (in)famous Invisible Vice-President who only comes out to make blatant, vengeful lies and to campaign.
and angry gun nuts could buy licenses to shoot them.
From what I understand you’all _have_ bought license to take a shot; today’s proceedings are costing 60 million dollars. 20 of it being sponsored, 40 of it cumin right outta yer budget.
It’s really, um, kind of nice that no monumental disasters have happened anywhere, you know, no place that could really use the money and effort put into a simple ‘repeat after me and then walk down the street’ procession.

But I do like your idea.
I finished rereading The Informers yesturday.
I read Tumble Home today. I liked Reasons to Live a lot better, but Tumble Home is still a really good book.
I started reading Stranger than Fiction just a little bit ago.
This morning, I read part of 'The Good Soldier Švejk.' Then, at lunch, I read a few more pages of 'The Good Soldier Švejk.' Had a little time in the afternoon, got a little further in 'The Good Soldier Švejk.'

Maybe before I go to bed, I'll read a few pages of 'The Good Soldier Švejk.'

Part of why I enjoy short story collections is that I read one of the story's in 'The Ice at The Bottom of the World' in the midst of this Švejk jag. Just one story, while I took a shit. I always keep a volume of shorts by the throne, because it is there, while taking a load off, that I do my best thinking. And my best thinking is also likely to coincide with my best reading...
