CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS! Colored Chalk Issue 5
(mods, let me know if this is in the wrong place...)
Colored Chalk has been rolling strong for four issues, and we want to read more from our Writer's Cult! The theme:
Sins of the Father.
Submissions are open through October 31st, 2008.
Sins of the Father
(inspired by an essay from Will Christopher Baer)
A man's relationship with his father is perhaps one of the most oft-explored subjects throughout literary history. The Father is a powerful literary figure, from the Bible to Beowulf, Hamlet to Star Wars and beyond. As Baer says in the above-linked essay, at a young age, God is the Father and our Father is God. As such, the relationship is a delicate and complex one of love, anger, loyalty, betrayal, honor and deceit.
What does a father teach, and what does he never tell? Let’s explore the father/son dynamic, whether the relationship exists the strong bond of a loving father and son, in the separated and uncrossing minds of the son and absentee father, or in those warm familial/cold jilted moments after you tell your father you love him.
General Submission Guidelines are here.
Please email your stories to mike@monkeywright.com by October 31st. Stories may be in any style or genre, up to 1500 words. Acceptable formats are TXT, RTF, Microsoft Word DOC, PDF, and Open Office ODT.
Simultaneous submissions are fine. Please put any bio/cover letter information that you feel is important in the body of your email.
Please put "Sins of the Father" somewhere in the subject line of your email so that it stands out from spam messages.
Thank you in advance for your submissions.

please give him a banner so he'll get rid of that fucking woo! gif.
So are y'all making this a simply lit mag? Or are you including the random bits of art as well? Cause if you are, I totally have some shit to submit. If not, fuck you guys, I don't want to be in your stupid rag anyway.

I'd have to talk to a few people, but I'll see what I can make happen...the print version is self-made kinko's stuff, so it might not reproduce your wonderous art, but perhaps the online version....I'm going to PM you in a bit...please hold...
Shit, have something Des did as a cover, the artwork and stuff is all up to you Monkey, but if the photograph is good enough you'd be able to slip it in. There is the whole black-and-white thing, but you never know, maybe she's done a black and white painting? My submission is coming along. Obviously it's still by me, but considering that factor, it's not all bad.
Rubbish that i missed this - i have something perfect for it. I think.
Balls.

Loving the theme this month, fantastic one, really, I'll definitely be submitting to this. Monkey, you're handy with the photoshop, why not make a call-for-submissions banner, I'll slip it into the old sig.
