I have a ton of suggestions for book club selections. I am a total bibliophile and I am constantly seeking out new, edgy reads. Lately I have been delving into the underground literary movement called Bizzaro. There is also a wonderful novel called "The Pilo Family Circus" written by a schizophrenic Australian lad,(forget his name). It won tons of Australian literary awards. Another cracked and foggy gem I've found is an illustrated novel called "Cruddy". It was darkly funny, touching and bold. I have others but I will wait to post more later on it, I'm currently at the hospital with my husband and don't have my collection near. If this isn't the place to post suggestions please correct me friends.

Dead boys by Richard Lange would appeal to this group I think. It's an anthology of literary noir shorts by said author.

Anything by Andrew Crumey is great too. he's what you might get it Milan Kundera and Borges had a PhD in theoretical physics.

We should do Where the Wild Things Are for a book club. All ten sentences of it.

nate, your sig has gone gross again. i dont remember the context, but i know in some way it is funny, but the pixels fray apart and i just wanted to say Gross. Ha.

QN, i'm sorry your husband's in the hospital, unless he's an attending physician that is..

and this is a perfect place to post about reads and suggestions, and booktalk overall. no worries. chuck's books each have their own forums, but all others own free reign here.

plus, you can spend weeks exploring and come away with hundreds of recommends, and countless time in the recommended page. what can be particularly helpful is if more members went to the recommended page and graded the current books. maybe you'll find a few there that you would've recommended. offering your personal thoughts on the book can be invaluably beneficial to readers looking into such books.

i aim with conviction to spend more time there mid october.

I'm going to be posting a poll in the Book Club Group either later tonight or tomorrow. These are the selections I'm thinking of throwing in there. Any other suggestions or replacements welcome. Post here.

Pilo Family Circus by Will Elliott
Nobody Move by Denis Johnson(I'm gonna keep trying on this one lol)
Times Arrow by Martin Amis
Grotesque by Natsuo Kirino
The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death by Charlie Huston

Sorry, Cruddy is by Lynda Barry. I also recommend author Kelly Link, any of her short story anthologies are captivating. Stranger Things Happen is more adult oriented.I stayed up all night reading it and started again when I woke up, drool soaked chest and all!
