Boo-urns Its November 09 and I'm reading...
Im starting off this month with Blur by Michelle Berry, nothing to do with the band.
House of thieves - stories by Kaui Hart Hemmings. I bought it because night said some where that she was like hempel. She kind of is. Pretty beautiful language so far.
"Matt, you pretty much just SLAMMED your square ass right in this round hole. You've officially fit in." - Six On The Dot
I am reading "Apathy - And Other Small Victories" by Paul Neilman. It's pretty obvious that it's his first novel, but it is a good story line and has been funny throughout so far.
"Beware those who are always reading books." ~ Bukowski
Still reading Brightness Falls by Jay Mcinerney.
Szamár madár.
'Don't Know Much About History' - Kenneth C. Davis. Pretty damn interesting for the few pages I've read.
'Invisible Monsters' I can't remember the name of the guy who wrote it. He also wrote a book called 'Violence Party' or some such thing, where they take vows of silence and blow shit up...? I don't know.
Geek Love by Katherine Dunn.
But what I do I do because I like to do.
How does the "Boo-urns" relate to "November?" I don't get it.
Still on Conquest of the Useless by Werner Herzog. Fantastic memoir...
"To fail to embrace my dreams now would be a disgrace so great that sin itself would not be able to find a name for it." - Werner Herzog
Finished Breakfast At Tiffany's last night and am about to start The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak.
"Who needs purpose when you have the Cult?" - Phil
"So the guy says, Doctor! Get this dichotomy! I haven't been able to sit right for a week!" - Mike
Geek Love by Katherine Dunn.
I just finished re-reading this for about the 10th time. Awesome, awesome novel.
Now, I'm reading Demon Theory.

I'm still reading The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
Think for yourself. Question Authority.
Memoirs of a Survivor by Doris Lessing
Someone must have slandered Josef K., for one morning, without having done anything truly wrong, he was arrested.

Naomi Klein - The Shock Doctrine
Naomi Klein - The Shock Doctrine

This is one of the funniest books I think I've ever read. I love this book. A great first novel.
I'm taking a break from the intensity and giving my mind a break with "Angels and Demons". Its simple, lite, entertaining reading.
I've got Stewart O'Nan's "Snow Angels", Philip K Dick's "The Game Players of Titan" and Haruki Murakami's "Dance Dance Dance" on my shortlist. Hope to get to them this month.
Still reading American Tabloid, loves it.
Penny Dreadful. very different. not what i was expecting after Judas but i'm still into it. Baer's has a way with the words.
"Matt, you pretty much just SLAMMED your square ass right in this round hole. You've officially fit in." - Six On The Dot
Becoming The Natural by Randy Couture, I going to see him fight in two weeks so Im reading his story first. So far I just wanna hug him and make sure he doesnt get beat up.
I thought the Boo-urns was a note on The Simpsons... I'm a bit disappointed now. Well, I still had a chuckle at it's expense.
After At the Mountains of Madness it's The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevski. It's the holiday season... what better time to slog through a 700 page, depressing, Russian existential novel?
"I thought I had mono once for an entire year. Turns out I was just really bored."
Wayne Campbell
I'm re-reading Less Than Zero. My favourite book of all time.
Szamár madár.
I'm re-reading Less Than Zero. My favourite book of all time.
Because it's about you? What did you think of Brightness Falls?
I'm still reading unconsoled, slow progress recently. I really like it.
!
I'm re-reading Less Than Zero. My favourite book of all time.
I just finished Reading that little treasure. Such a quick, easy read. I have to say, t first, I wasn't sure but then I just got so into it. I haven't seen the movie either. I've always left it because Ive been meaning to read it for so long. Kind of annoyed it's taken me this long now.

Apparently neither was Naomi Klein... she was not happy at all with Michael Winterbottom's finished documentary.

It's a Simpson's reference by way of all those other routes.
I still don't get what it's got to do with November though.
I'm finishing up that Strange Tales by Kipling.
I'm re-reading Less Than Zero. My favourite book of all time.
Because it's about you? What did you think of Brightness Falls?
Haha I wish I was as cool as Clay Easton! I wasn't very impressed by it. It wasn't as good as Bright Lights, Big City but an easy read nonetheless.

It's so good, isn't it? Imo, the movie is pants.
Have you read any of Bret Easton Ellis' other stuff? I think he is God!
Szamár madár.
Some Things That Meant The World to Me by Joshua Mohr.
going to put down Chronic City by Jonathan Lethem and read:
Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem
and
Manhood for Amateurs: The Pleasures and Regrets of a Husband, Father, and Son by Michael Chabon
Finished Breakfast At Tiffany's last night and am about to start The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak.
The Book Thief is a really great book. It's a quick but wonderful read.
I'm working on Glamorama. I'm also reading various odes and hymns to the Roman gods for class.

i loved it. i'm gonna get the movie soon. i wanted to read it first, though.
That was actually my first. I've been meaning to read him for so long. one of those things. and since i read that i went out and bought every one of his books. i've also read The Informers, which was in some ways alot like LTZ. probably will go with american pyscho next, i'm super-excited about it because when i bought it from the store it was shrink-wrapped and had an 18+ sticker on it. like porno. but i got penny dreadful and hells half acre in the mail. so i'm gonna knock them out first.
also, flicking through Allen Ginsbergs Collected poems.
"when can I go to the supermarket and buy what i need with my good looks?"

You should read Rules of Attraction.

Less han Zero and The Informers are the only two I haven't read. I will probably get Less Than Zero in preparation for the sequel though and I've seen the movie of The Informers which was ordinary. All Ellis' other books are excellent though.
Did you get Hells Half Acre in paperback or hardcover? I read the paperback and found it ended strangely and after some research found out that the last two chapters can only be found in the hardcover.
well, i bought kiss me, judas in paperback and it was that cool paperback with the red writing and jude on the front sipping a martini. so i wanted to get the next two in that same series, because i love having matching series'. you know?
so anyway, i also heard about HHA finishing short in paperback. i was bummed because i really liked the artwork theme for the paperbacks. okay, so no, i bought PD and HHA in hardcover, the ones without the dustjacket. i love them, they're nice. so i'll buy KMJ in that same hardcover at some point and probably just give away the paperback to someone.
as far as BBE goes. i haven't seen any of the films. but i think i'll just read the rest in chronological order. i read the first section of lunar park and it sounds so fucking good, but i think it'll be one of those things that will be better when the others have been read and understood. sounds like it'll be wacky. in a good way. i love the the whole blurring the lines between fiction and non-fiction.

I know what you mean re all the books having matching covers. They look so nice sitting on the shelf together all matching. Dumb idea to cut the last two chapters though and bloody frustrating for me.
Yep, you should definitely read Ellis' books in order. They reference other characters and stuff from the other books. Especially Lunar Park.
der Zimmerspringbrunnen by Jens Sparschuh
Someone must have slandered Josef K., for one morning, without having done anything truly wrong, he was arrested.
needed a breather from Penny Dreadful to think about some stuff, so last night i ripped through Ira Levin's The Stepford Wives in one quick read. i kind of wish i never saw either of the films, would've made the twist so much more exhilirating to read.

Major Inversions by Gordon Highland. I started it this morning and already halfway through. Cheers Gordon.

That's one of the stupidest things I ever heard! Why would they print a paperback without the last two chapters? Was it just a printing error or were all of them like that?
Fuckin' amateur move on Baer's part to let that happen if you ask me.
I finished Little Women, which I honestly found to be too uppity, but otherwise good. Very sweet though.
I'm almost done with The Cider House Rules now, which I'm really enjoying.
I'm trying to think of what else I've read recently. All I can remember is Atonement
I just got off the phone with Barnes and Noble and they are holding a copy of The Gates which I am REALLY excited about!!
Don't be a prick in the roses
No one's impressed with your lack of respect.
We're all black sheep and we know it
So don't fuck it up for the rest.

I know. I'm pretty sure all the paperbacks were printed without the last two chapters but it might just have been the one edition of the paperback. I'm not sure if there were other versions. Apparently it was a decision by the publisher and not a printing error. No idea why the would do that though.
Now reading Company by Max Barry.
It's scary how similar it is to my place of employ. I'm getting very suspicious.

This was a topic of much discussion over at The Velvet, and I'm still not sure we ever got a good answer... I own the omnibus edition (all three books bound together in paperback) and it's intact.
And Barca, you're a good man.
No reasing Company by Max Barry.
It's scary how similar it is to my place of employ. I'm getting very suspicious.
I constantly look back on that book and think about that.
When I read that book I thought it was just funny. At the time I was working at a server for a restaurant.
Since then I've gotten a job in an office for a fundraising organization.
Everybody there has a job to do - but we have no idea of how anything really works there. Only what our small piece does. Even the people above me seem clueless. It's hilarious with the similarities. Anytime I meet somebody there that reads - I recommend that they read Company.

they could get the same result by not even releasing a paperback though.
Doing that and leaving off the ending just makes them look like a buncha Bozos.

I'm still reading Sepulchre by Kate Mosse!
og eg kan vel ikkje berre vere ingen stad heller -
and I can't just be nowhere either
