Boo! It's October. From Which Books Shall You Never Return?
I'm really surprised at the number of adults, whose opinions I used to respect, told me to read it. Many told me that the last book made the whole series.
And I'm OCD about finishing things.
I respect that. But did you read Twilight? If so, you need a metal.
Luckily, my brother's wife told him he had to read this (probably in hopes that he would become more like Edward) so my brother bought the series on CD. So, yes, I did finish the series during my 25 minute ride to work. If I had the books, I don't think I would have been capable of reading past the first installment.

Fixed for accuracy.
This made me laugh.
I'm almost done reading The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen. I liked it, but Freedom was definitely better.
Hunger Games was so disappointing.
I thought, this is kind of clever.
*watches Battle Royale*
Never mind.
*reads up to second to last chapter in the third book*
Wow, everything's not going to wrap up in a neat little bow.
*reads last chapter and epilogue*
Never mind.
Herniated Roots.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I really enjoyed this.
I finally finished one of the two books I started early this year. I forgot to take a book with me to school so I bought an Edgar Allan Poe book from school...the Murders in Rue Morgue. It's a short read but of course I fell asleep in one of the hallways by class while reading.
Time's Arrow - Martin Amis
...although I am craving some good old trash.
Drive by James Sallis. It's quite a bit different to the film.
The Strange Case of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde - R.L. Stine.
This is why we can't have nice things.
A Passage to India - E M Forster and BPD: A Clinical Guide.
I finished The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen. There were a lot of things I liked about it, but also some things I didn't like. It got more depressing as the story went on, and it left me feeling quite sad. Books are supposed to make you feel something though, so that's good.
Started reading King of Lies now, by John Hart.
Imke, the passage I'm working on for translation class is from The Corrections! That's funny. He also gave us a passage that has one LONG ASS FUCKING SENTENCE!! And I'm translating it into French. Fun stuff haha!
I don't know what to read next.
Oliver Twist
Life on the Mississippi
Bar Scars
A Fuckload of Shorts
No Easy Day
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
This is why we can't have nice things.
The Battle of the Sun by Jeanette Winterson.
The Swamp Thing by Alan Moore
Barry Gifford- Wild at Heart.
Oliver Twist
Life on the Mississippi
Bar Scars
A Fuckload of Shorts
No Easy Day
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
I had to read One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich and do a book report in high school (aka home school and it was the only "classic" book my mom had lying around) and i remembered it was really good. I still have that copy actually...
Also i'm rereading Blood Meridian because i never finished it the first time.
Were you home schooled your whole childhood or just for a bit?
Just high school. It was lame.
Hahaha! DWEEB!
How come you were home schooled?
The Battle of the Sun was awesome! She totally pulls off writing for children, too.
My parents said i was being "annoying" and they blamed public schools. It was mostly because my brother was getting into lots of trouble at school so they had to take him out. Then they decided to take me and my sister out of school too. It was kind of fun at the time but now i tend to be a little bit socially stunted and i took about 6 semesters of math before i was even at the college level. I feel like my potential was squandered.
Wtf? I was plenty annoying and I still had to go to school! Well, I didn't go...but I was spose to!
I read Bar Scars and it was pretty amazing.
But now I'm back to my previous quandry.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I am fucking tired and read that as Bear Scars. My night is ruined now.
Now, you damn-well know I'd never be as subtle as that.
I'm on to No Easy Day; someone here needs to read it.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Oh, I know. I was just saying.
I have no idea what book to start tomorrow. I'll be doing a lot of waiting around the uni so I have to pick something entertaining. Maybe some John Saul. I haven't read anything by him in years, and I was obsessed with his books in my teens.
I'm reading The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon.
I haven't read any King in who knows how long so it is a nice change of pace.
I just bought a copy of Hannibal and Thousand Cranes at the thrift store, so I will read one of those next, probably Thousand Cranes.
It'll be Darkness by John Saul. Alecia, I loved everything I've read
And according to Goodreads, that's 17.
The Blackstone Chronicles is still on my extended favourites list.
The Never Enders by Michael Sonbert.
I still need to read that.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I read that on a train to the beach last summer. Good one.
Yakuza Moon by Shoko Tendo.
Yeah... Now I need to read A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book the Second: The Reptile Room to even things out.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I really liked the unfortunate events books, they are all terrible, as the warning claims. I never quite finished the series though. I think I left off at the very last one.
I love that series.

What is this No Easy Day book? I looked it up on Amazon but there were a couple with that title. It's not the one about the Navy and Osama Bin Laden is it?
I have not. Maybe I should look into them.
Are they children's books too or are they aimed at a more adult crowd?
The series of unfortunate events may be good ones for Zachariah right now.
Alecia, you know what Saul book really impressed me? Brainchild. I was so amazed at the time.
Of course I'm over halfway through Darkness, as today I had a lot of waiting time at uni, too.

'Tis indeed.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I love that series.
I heard good things and when I saw it I had to have it. I'll hopefully read another chapter tonight before bed.

I think it is 5 volumes. So, if you have quite a bit of reading ahead of you.

Oh... wow... priceless.
