The Barca Boy Stephen King Giveaway
in my opinion, kings books are better as films. i don't know, maybe its me. but his writing seems lazy and frankly boring. in everything i've read so far, i've found myself skimming to get to the scary bits. so much waffle.
Four Past Midnight, which also has The Langoliers.
thanks big s and nate. appreciate it.
i'll look for it next time i'm checking out the local secondhand dealer.
ps. that was fucking quick. cheers
pps. i just realised i wrote that i saw the movie and i really wanna see the flick. ignore me. i meant read the story. whatever. i'm dumb.

Blasphemy!
No, really, every man is entitled to his own opinion.
I just happen to disagree. I don't even think many of King's books are that scary (it's hard to be frightened by a book),
but I love the stories.
Yo man! Next time, I kick your ass! That'll be that!
Desperation?
The green mile?
The shining?
It?
If I got anyone of those, I'd be a happy creature.
And by the way, as you've probably already been told - a very new, crazy, great thing to do! Especially for us King fans who get to take advantage of your generousity.
Heh, did anyone else read that list like it's an advert for antidepressants?
!
I stopped reading horror stories in the evening, 'cause I'm scared I'll have nightmares. I'm kind of a chicken though, so.
Aaaw. Well, if it's really dark books like It can make me a bit nervous.
Yo man! Next time, I kick your ass! That'll be that!
yeah, nervous and anxious. not like when you watch a scary movie and they have all the right violin noises in all the right tense bits. what the fuck is up with that?
when i say i feel myself skimming to get to the scary stuff. i kind meant, to get to THE stuff. like i've read a few short stories, that don't feel short cause they seem to drag on and on and on with pointless details. oh, and i'm not the biggest fan of third person in general.
I know that's what you meant.
I was just saying I like the "pointless" details. They matter to me
Yo man! Next time, I kick your ass! That'll be that!
I'm all for details. But I need them to be relevant, otherwise, what's the point?
I guess, I believe if you can say it in 5 words, why spend a paragraph on it? Maybe I'm just being an impatient prick. Or maybe I'm turning into a fucking minimalist snob.
just picked up a second hand hardcover of Four Past Midnight. it was like 2 bucks. sweet. i didn't realise it was basically four novelettes or novella's. cool.
I guess, I believe if you can say it in 5 words, why spend a paragraph on it? Maybe I'm just being an impatient prick. Or maybe I'm turning into a fucking minimalist snob.
The point is that they are important to me.
They're not to you, but to me. People have different taste.

it was actually about two days later...and someone was kind enough to tell me on the previous page. thanks, though.

yeah, everyone does have different tastes. and, your taste buds are ever-changing. maybe i will grow to love stephen king. i appreciate him, i just don't rush out to buy his stories.
I've noticed Stephen King writes the best children! The kids he writes are unforgettable. Anyone kind of stoked for "Under the dome" I read somewhere it's another thousand plus pager.

I think he writes well about people of about almost any age.
Except maybe, for 18-25 year olds? They seem a bit too simple-minded sometimes.
Too perfect.

do you mean actual 18-25 year olds are too simple-minded or the way he writes 18-25 year olds?
I could see either one being correct.
I mean the way he writes them, he does it well, but not as well as he writes about other people...
I'm not sure of it actually, but as far as I can remember, in the books I've read, I've noticed a slight flatness in character.
Take for example Frannie Goldsmith from The Stand. I've never met anyone that, once you get to know them, is not "more" human.

four past midnight. google is your friend, my friend.
