i plan on sticking around. this is a good outlet to talk books. most people dont read enough or just dont want to talk books. im glad i found a place where people love books as much as i do.

A gift from the heavens arrived today... or from Taum anyway.  As far as I'm concerned, they are one in the same.

Derek, I was trying to think of elaborate and flowery ways to show my appreciation... not just for the books, but my appreciation for you and your kindness.  In the end, nothing seemed to work as much as a heartfelt "thank you".

Can't wait to dig into them tonight.  Please let me know if you ever need anything from Greenwich CT.  I hope all is well for you.

Thanks again.

Dave

I just wanted to post some stuff about King here - I don't need any books or anything - just some thoughts and a question.

I wrote King off a long time ago and then I didn't read any of his stuff for years.  I thought he was too mainstream for me and laughed at people who said he was an awesome writer.

Then out of curiosity I read On Writing.  That book was so well put together and gave such a good look into a writer's life - I was wanting to look at his writing again.

I remember I read Salem's Lot a long time ago and thought it was ok.  I tried to read one of his short story collections and just couldn't get into it for some reason.

So I read Carrie... And loved it.  I recently read The Shining and thought that was brilliant.  I couldn't put it down!

Now I'm wondering - what next?  I want to read more King - but have no idea where to go next...

I was never very interested in reading Pet Semetary.  I just thought it was sort of childish.  I don't know.  I hope I don't offend anyone with that remark.

But I have never looked into The Dark Half or The Dead Zone.  Both of which sound really, really good after looking them up on Amazon.

I read both The Dark Half and The Dead Zone. I preferred The Dead Zone. i don't want to spoil anything but The Dark Half is somewhat similar to one of his other stories in the Four Past Midnight collection.

I am about to watch THE DEAD ZONE for the umpteenth time. The only other thing I always write in caps is BACON. That saying something. Or not.

Just typing it "All Caps" or even worse "all caps" seems weird.

I just wanted to say that you are doing an amazing thing. I'm completely new here, from Estonia, and I just joined the forums plus the writers club.

So this is also my first official 'Hi'.

If this is how people of the cult stick together, this is where i want to be.

Also if anyone needs anything from Estonia, PM Smile

The shining?
It?

If I got anyone of those, I'd be a happy creature.

And by the way, as you've probably already been told - a very new, crazy, great thing to do! Especially for us King fans who get to take advantage of your generousity.

okay. it's old and over with. but... do you know what collection 'secret garden, secret window appears in? i have only seen the movie and i'd absolutly love to see the flick.

in my opinion, kings books are better as films. i don't know, maybe its me. but his writing seems lazy and frankly boring. in everything i've read so far, i've found myself skimming to get to the scary bits. so much waffle.
