Are There Books Like This?
So I'm almost done with Prison Break (the TV show). And I find that there are huge similarities between Prison Break and 100 Bullets (the comics). And I also find that there are huge similarities between 100 Bullets and Preacher.
I just love the idea of (in stories at least) of one world power controlling everything. The company pulling the strings for everything in Prison Break.
Or in Confessions of an Economic Hitman, he pretty much tells how our government does this in other countries.
Besides Confessions and Perkins's other books and comic books and graphic novels - are there books with this as their central theme? I'm looking for fiction mainly.
Thanks guys!
The comic, The Invisibles.
Maybe The Illuminatus Trilogy!?
Foucault's Pendulum?
And wasn't The Da Vinci Code similar to Preacher as far as involving a group that preserved the bloodline of Christ?
I think there are tons that I can't think of right now. Just fiction based on conspiracy theory about secret groups that control everything.
Oh, Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians. That's a kid's book.
There are certainly a lot of books that are marketed as non-fiction that are pure fiction and concern stuff like this.
I refuse to read The DaVinci Code! lol
Thanks for replying though. I'm going to look up everything else you posted. Be back with opinions.
Yeah, definitely the Invisibles and Illuminatus!, both of which you should read anyway.
This is why we can't have nice things.
And really I'm not looking for something with religion or Masons so much as just a NWO behind the way things run. I think that's when I really started liking 100 Bullets - when I realized the story was much bigger than the guy handing out the guns and bullets.
I'm actually considering getting a couple non-fiction books about the subject just to see where the theories come from. (not that I'm getting obsessed and scared about it - I just think it's interesting.)
I've added The Illuminatus Trilogy and Foucault's Pendulum to my wishlist. They sound really good.
As for The Invisibles. I have it on my computer. I will put that in line to be next for "at work reading."
Bradley - I guess you will eventually get me to read a Morrison book that I can say I like? lol
Maybe Theodore Roszak's Flicker and The Crying of Lot 49 too. I don't know. It's been so long since I've read them.

hehe.
That David Icke guy is ridiculous!
If you've read one David Icke book, you've read them all. It's like he's writing the same book over and over again. Although I guess his second book was a remake of his first book with the inclusion of reptoid aliens. So it was sort of like reading his first book while wearing Rowdy Roddy Piper's special sunglasses.
So you've actually read his books?
I feel like if I read one of them, I'd be crossing some kind of point of no return. Like - ok, it's fine to call me crazy now. lol
If you haven't read this yet check it out: Behold a Pale Horse by William Cooper. It's not fiction, more on the lines of John Perkins, but all about the NWO shadow government..William Cooper went through hell to get his information out there for the public. He was a bad ass for sure and was killed not long after June of 2001 when he predicted there would be a terrorist attack blamed on Osama Bin Laden..Before that, he was confined to a wheelchair for a number of years because some "men in black" ran him off the road in his car. Whether all of that is true or not means nothing, its a cool story.
Also, if you have like 6 hours to spare check out www.zeitgeistmovie.com. Watch all 3 of those movies, in part 2 John Perkins is actually featured and interviewed pretty extensively.
Well I suppose this says much about who I am as a person, but really I had to take some time away from the "conspiracy theories" because that shit makes me as paranoid as a full-time crackwhore..
Love this forum by the way, you guys have turned me on to a ton of cool books after a long time of not reading much fiction it is strictly all I read now, at least for enjoyment sake..Peace and Chicken Grease all!
I added that to my wishlist. Thanks!
As for zeitgest, I've been meaning to watch that for a while now. I probably should do that one of these days.
Yea if I were to do one first, watch those movies or read Behold a Pale Horse, I'd honestly go with the movies especially since you're into John Perkins at the moment. I believe he has a sequel to the Confessions book too. I may have to check that one out myself...
Flicker is fucking brilliant!
I read Confessions years ago. When it first came out I think. I've looked into the sequel and I heard it wasn't as good as the first one.
You're probably right about that one. Sequels suck donkey balls, except Back to the Future and Ghostbusters and Rocky's 2 and 4 respectively.
I've read two or three of David Icke's books. I might have given up on Children of the Matrix after realizing it was pretty much the same book as his second book. I used to like to read books written by kooks.
I've read Behold a Pale Horse. William Cooper was way off when he published "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" in it and said to replace each mention of "Jews" with "Illuminati." Will Eisner's graphic novel, The Plot: The Secret Story Of The Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion, tells the real deal about that crap.
But is it the kind of book that Pete is looking for? I read it so long ago that I can't remember.

I'm not too sure either. It's a long time since I read it aswell but I remember it being great. I tried getting hold if his other books and only managed to nab one. I think it was called The Devil and Mister Silverman and it was poor compared with Flicker. I couldn't believe the same guy wrote it. If it's not along the lines Pete is looking for it's still a worthy read.
You should read Steve Erickson's Zeroville if you haven't already. It's similar to Flicker and also awesome.
Funny you should mention this. I bought Zeroville at the same time as Flicker. That's two great books Pete should buy!
Gosh - like my wishlist isn't big enough.
I added Flicker just because it sounded so good when it was first mentioned. I don't think it sounds anything like what I was asking for. But it does sound good.
As for Zeroville - I love Erickson's writing. So there's another one of the wishlist.
Steve Erickson is one of my favorite authors. I discovered his books through The Velvet forum. I usually don't discover stuff that way because I tend to not listen to other people's recommendation's for some bizarre reason. I usually get into new authors by stumbling across their stuff randomly and either being enticed by the back cover description or their actual writing. Although I remember getting into a bunch of books when I was a teenager from reading Spin Magazine's reviews of them. Like I had never heard of William Burroughs until I read their review of one of his books. And there was this awesome Tower Records near me with a book selection that was better than any bookstore's. The store's book buyer was like my literary recommendation god. And considering they didn't have a lot of books, I would check out the shelves and buy whatever looked cool.

Yes William Cooper was also famous for saying, "Listen to everyone, read everything; believe absolutely nothing unless you can prove it in your own right!" Some of the things in that book are believed to be red herrings such as all the UFO stuff, which he went back later and basically said it was all bullshit. But much of what's in this book are facts and much has come true after the book was published. Next are FEMA camps everyone!!! Yayy!!!!
I watched Zeitgeist: The Movie yesterday at work. It was pretty interesting. Very well thought out. A lot of those theories are kind of dated now. But still, it was a pretty good movie.
Today I am watching Zeitgeist: Addendum. This one is really interesting. This is like the movie version of Confessions of an Economic Hitman.

Well, I'm glad you're getting some mileage out of them. Those movies brought some things to light for me that I've never heard before. Such as the Bayer aspirin AIDS fiasco..
The Zeitgeist people ultimately have a good message about preserving our existence here on earth. Interesting stuff!
Oh yeah, that AIDS thing is unbelievable! I can't believe there are people out there that would do something like that. But I guess money rules over all.
I thought that the stuff about the Venus project was really cool. Too bad, it's pretty unrealistic in my opinion. Even if we could get society to adjust it's thinking where money was no longer needed, we still would never get something like that to work.
Considering the fact that we probably couldn't get all of America, much less the world to go on strike for one day from either work or buying gas tells me that most likely it is unrealistic. Still good thoughts on an answer for most of world's problems. Not like our Alex Jones' that just spout all sorts of conspiracies at us with no answers. "We are fucked people, there is nothing we can do now!" type of attitude does nothing for me.
Something like the Venus Project I could definitely sink my teeth into and promote, at the very least stirring up debate on real "change," not the fake shit we were spoon fed by Obama, which I voted for btw...Eh.
I understand totally. It's like telling you how dangerous sharks are before throwing you in a shark tank with no weapons or training...
I'm watching Zeitgeist: Moving Forward right now. (The 3rd one). It's not as exciting (?) as the other ones, but it does tackle our future problems. It's a little boring for me. But I think it's pretty good still.
Watch House of Numbers, it's about AIDS. Really interesting, confusing stuff.
Yeah, in order the first is like "Whoa!" The second is like "holy fuck whoa!" and the last is just "Eh." They took a long time on that third one with a supposed bigger budget (even though they are a notforprofit org) but it did lack the thrill of the first two for me as well. Glad we're on the same page haha!
Not that any of this matters because "We're all fucked, and there is nothing we can do to stop it. Sheep to the herd."
Tomorrow is another day though.
House of Numbers added to the Netflix instant queue.
Best part of the third one is then end when it shows them burn the money and everything comes together.
You guys! All I really wanted to know was about New World Order and everything being orchestrated by one organization. Fiction and non-fiction showing this. Now you've gotten me all engrossed in conspiracies of all kinds... lol

I'm glad I was of some assistance. I had a 6 month to a year of reading up and getting crazy with all the conspiracy stuff. I was on the wagon, now I'm off again.. Damn!
Btw, I know we weren't talking about it in this thread but The New York Trilogy is fucking awesome so far, glad I started reading this one first.
Awesome! Glad you're liking it. I just love the way Auster writes. He's got such a beautiful style.

I'll take this as a - nobody knows of any... lol
