April Fools and I am reading
Excellent! I hope you join the book club discussion once you finish it.
Just finished Franny and Zooey,
Won't you join us and post a few thoughts about the book here?
I loved this book, though I found it disturbing and sad. It was also made into an excellent film by Michael Haneke (One of my favorite directors)
Yes, the film is astounding. I picked the book up recently in a charity shop just by chance. I finished it yesterday and loved it too; I'll definitely have to check out more of her work.

That's funny, I also found the book in a thrift store after seeing the film! I'll be looking into more of her work as well.

Ha no way!
Yes, way! I found my copy at The Salvation Army thrift store and it was fifty cents!
I finished Lunar Park and was pretty impressed by it. At about 2/3 through it got to the point where it was like 3 am, but I didn't want to pause, so I just stayed up until like 5 am finishing it. I really enjoyed the book.
Now I'm reading Cicero by Anthony Everitt, it's a biography.
Step back. Evaluate. Recognize.
i've been reading through 'the vice guide to sex, drugs, and rock n roll'. it's a pretty fucked-up read. i guess vice is some new york magazine that was started by some junkies in a halfway house. it's hilarious.
Crash By JG Ballard... Pretty cool. I strongly agree with what the book is trying to say too.
Into the Wild for my english class. I was suprised that it has been added to the ciriculum.
"The Warmth of Blood" 30 min Short Film
I just finished the Raw Shark Texts and, while I found it interesting, i was mostly underwhelmed.THEN, I started The Gargoyle (thanks Derek), which made me stay awake about an hour past when I should have because I couldn't stop reading it.
^^ Thats great to hear Mike!
Im starting the Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway, my first by him.
About to start Less Than Zero.

Read it for English class in 10th grade...we had maybe 10 books to choose from. Loved it. Reread a little while ago.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
The Confessions of Henry Lee Lucas by Mike Cox.
I loved that book.
as did I... all of the characters are very different but equally compelling. Good stuff.
"I thought I had mono once for an entire year. Turns out I was just really bored."
Wayne Campbell
really? I loved it... delivered like Dominos. I wasn't aware of all the hype around it here when I grabbed it though. I just liked the title and my buddy Mike was itching to get rid of it because he hated it so much. I was thoroughly surprised at how orginal it was.

See, I didn't say it was BAD, just underwhelming. I'd already been on this kind of ride before (Baer, Clevenger, Danielewski, Edward Carey) and this one just felt obvious to me. I kind of figured out what was happening by the second chapter, so nothign surprised me, but it was compelling enough that I read to the end. I was just hoping for more, some much larger revelation.
Almost done with Fight Club. I'm also reading a bunch of other books like this one:

It's awesome!

I PM'd Derek after I read it to recommend it to him and to my delight he had already read it!
It had that hold on me too, I couldn't put it down. I loved it.
I am rereading Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
i'm gonna be pissed if they are no gargoyles in The Gargoyle. just sayin.
It does not disappoint.
It does not. Have you finished it?
i ordered the gargoyle today based off mike's/mirka's/derek's recommendation. so if it sucks there will be hell to pay!!!

I'm almost halfway through now. Lots of work this weekend will slow my progress
If you hate it, I will buy it off you and send it to someone in a third world country. Deal?
Listened to the audiobook of "Universally Preferable Behavior: A Rational Proof of Secular Ethics". Even better than 'The Virtue of Selfishness'.
Now listening: For A New Liberty: The Libertarian Manifesto, by The Murray Rothbard. Visited his grave the other day, had a spiritual moment with the man, t'was an experience.
