we call 'em texts over here, although the fones call them SMS. i dodn't think the texting 'phenomenom' was that big over in the US anyway?

Yes its boring term but ppl. don't use the texting feature very much in the US so theres no need to have a stylish acronym. Some ppl. call them TM's.

Cell phone minutes are fairly inexpensive so most people just have voice mail. My understanding is that cell/mobile time is more expensive "abroad" which is why texting is so popular.

I'd still love to know what SMS is an acronym for.
