Whats the Last Thing You Ate
Old friend opened her tiny Japanese restaurant today. It's just one small room. But very swank.
Me and Issy had a large salad, tempura and yakitori chicken. It was well under $10. But I felt awful spending it.However, Issy never eats her vegetables, and she nommed the hell out of the tempura. Told her it was french fries. She had a great time, and shouted "thank you!" across the room several times.
They also gave us edamame beans, which I told Issy were 'magic beans'. When we went to bed, I thanked her for going out to eat with me, and repeated everything we ate. She nodded, smiled and went to sleep. I'm pretty sure she dreamed about 'magic beans'.
Cute! That's great you're introducing your little girl to new foods. First time I tried Japanese cuisine I was 12 and in Kenya, weirdly. Loved the bento boxes and private booths, but took me a couple of years to get into the food!
I just ate a pear.
Aww so cute.
I never had Japanese food. I've just had cabbage rolls - cabbage leaves filled with minced meat, usually pork. We serve them with sour cream and polenta.

Yum, looks delicious!
They are! Perfect winter meal.
Yeah we have those. But they're usually Polish.
This is why we can't have nice things.
They sound really good.
Hattie, I wish she had also eaten a pear. That was a lot of fiber for a baby. Her little tummy was in knots this morning- she was in tears. That sweet potato reformed itself in her digestive system. Looks like a whole potato slice in her diaper. Going to introduce little veggie daily, sloooowly.
You must have had some great adventures in Kenya.
Oh, you international culties!
Chicken cooked in wine and spices, fries and freshly squeezed orange juice. And now I'm having a cup of hot chocolate. Hazelnut-flavoured.
I've just realised the only thing I've eaten today was a piece of cake and four slices of bacon.
I'm not sure if I should be proud or ashamed.
I ate some cold pizza with broccoli and other veggies on it.
The broccoli makes it count as having eaten something I should.
Canneloni with parmezan on top and pancake cake (with cottage cheese and rose syrup). Yum.
Spring rolls and rice cooked in vegetable stock.
Dessert will be chocolate mousse with whipped cream on top, mmm!
I had some vegetable soup (the smooth kind) that I added chunks of ham to, and a chunk of Brie cheese. Had very little to eat today, so it was satisfying.
I hope you're not starving yourself at the moment.
No, it was an accident. I woke up around 12 so I had a bowl of cereal, but then I had to do laundry and then class so I didn't have a chance for lunch, and then my friend invited me to the library to do some work and we stayed from 4pm to 8pm, so it was just a matter of bad timing. I am eating less, but I'm not foolish enough to starve myself. The body actually holds on to calories and fat when you do that. But thanks
I had "Oriental" flavor top ramen with an egg dropped in egg-flower soup style.
Yeah. I really need to go grocery shopping.
That sounds fancy to me. It's the "egg-flower soup" that does it. I know it's easy to make but it still sounds like a work of art.
The thing I am eating:

Best chocolate ever.
Hahaha, I just looked up the word "stracciatella" (which is what they named that particular flavor of chocolate) and it's an Italian word that can mean a variety of things, like a kind of cheese or a type of chocolate-chip-like ice cream (probably the one they were going for)... but ALSO the Italian version of egg drop soup.
That's beautiful. I love words.
Not true. If you didn't post about it in the Taco Bell thread, it didn't happen.
I had some of these little yogurt-covered granola chunks from Sam's Club. So good.
Leftover bolognese. It was good.
That's beautiful. I love words.
You and me. We are all synced up with our fake egg soup food.
Seriously, that was a special moment and I'll never forget it.
Hotdog, Ketchup, & American Cheese sammich made for me by Isabel.
It's sloppily delicious!
This is why we can't have nice things.
Isn't that the best food?
I didn't actually have dinner because I was out, so a Bora Bora tea and an Earl Grey.
I was going to ask how you make a sandwich out of hot dogs... but I have kids and, well, I guess I sort of already know all the ways a kid might accomplish that.
I had curry samosas, artichoke hearts with lemon cilantro sauce for dipping and some cana de oveja. Washed down with an ale. I usually don't drink in the day, but this lunch deserved washed down with an ale.
There is key lime pie in the fridge.
I might need a piece now.
I had leftover ribeye steak and spaghetti with pesto. Hit the spot.

Made myself lunch today. My stomach is happy.
I just ate cake before signing in.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Okay okay, we're done eating like that, promise.
