What did YOU find on the Internet today?

US-Mexico border
That is crazy, though. It looks like two different photos glued together.

The latest (2011) model of Lamborghini, in Bucharest. Crisis? What crisis?
How long until it gets stolen, do you think?
It doesn't even need to park right like all the other normal cars.
"I don't need to park my nose to that pile of milk boxes. I don't even look at it!"
Hahaha true. I don't recognise the area, though, it might be close to some factory. Idiots.
This is part of my problem. I don't care about Tietz anymore, i haven't for years. Also, if you look at the guy's blog that started the whole thing, there are several reviews, not just Brandon's. Whatever.
Yeah, you just convinced me that it was you. Thanks for stirring up a shitstorm and dragging my name into it.
And thanks to Jessabels for being helpful in this matter.
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.
I don't care. I have a baby on the way, bills out my ass, a flat tire i can't afford to fix, a job that underpays me, a lawyer to pay off, i have to find a new place to live, i have to find a way to pay a midwife $3000, and i have to make sure my baby's heart keeps beating. I don't care if your fake internet name got dragged into some petty, wannabe writer nonsense. I'm done giving it any thought.
So you say.

I hope it wasn't you BigS, I hope it isn't any one person actually, just different random people that do not like his work or whatever.
I don't know Brandon very well, but that wouldn't matter. Trolling, or stalking, someone secretly with multiple alts and sites and accounts and blogs all over the web for several years is really sad and fucking creepy.
And probably illegal.
The secret not showing ones identity part is what makes it creepy. Plenty of people openly show their disgust or disdain all over the internet for different people and sites. There are public sites dedicated solely to invalidating other public sites or figures all over the net.
But to do it hidden, and attempt to make ones self look like multiple people as well, for years on end, is creepy creepy creepy and obsessional.
I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by saying that, like I said, I personally did not see irrefutable proof in the time line of events and evidence given on first glance, but I didn't have time to really look at good it before it was removed either, so I can't judge one way or the other.
But I think the idea that someone was/is doing that is fucked up and I hope it wasn't/isn't you.
(if it wasn't you the fucked up that the finger is pointed at you)
I don't know how to start it at the right time, the bit starts at 10 minutes in. Spoiler: They do use the line "and then smash, Smash, SMAYASH! yeah... "!

Not to stir up even more shit or anything, but was there ever a reason given as to why there was a need for a separate website for the writer's workshop as opposed to how it was working here?
It was either that or ban everybody who was not an Aspiring Writer.

Even if there were 1,000 of them, seems like it would be easier than going to the trouble of starting an entirely new thing and building an online presence that was already established.
The only thing I can think of is if they wanted it to be more open to writers that might not directly identify with Chuck's style. I dunno, there seemed to be plenty of folk from different genres and backgrounds that found their way here. Just seems odd.
Didn't Big S say that he was up to a super secret blog that he wasn't going to share with us until later. Is that the project? I don't know. They took the thing down before I could read it.
Good. I read through the thread the day he posted it. I don't know or care about whatever little beef you have with that guy since I don't know him or for that matter, you.
But despite not being a close friend of yours, I would've been fairly annoyed if you turned out to be Aspiring Writer. I know people used to do shit like that on this website all the time but he wasn't even funny and anyway I find the idea of trolling people you pretend to be friends with (and then never letting them in on the joke) extremely cowardly.
Ahhhhhh! I admit it! I didn't like Out of Touch! (Sighs) The main character started out unlikable and never got any better! He rapes a girl at the beginning and we're just supposed to forget that? There's more but gahhh!!!
I thought the writers workshop was shut down because they wanted the Cult to have more a focus specifically on chuck?
I thought it was shut down because our Pointless Announcements and other time wasting bullshit embarrass The Serious Writers and they don't want our faces and dressed down bodies to pop up when people google their Serious Writer Names. We took over their place and instead of talking to us, they preferred to find a new apartment.
It may seem weird to say it, but this place has never been focused on Chuck. I mean, yeah, he's the foundation that everything else builds off of, but there's just not that much news and info to come here daily and check things out. How much of everything posted today was about Chuck? The place works best when there's other things to do and enjoy and then you get that spark of excitement when there is a bit of Chuck news that comes out.
GD and the Workshop seemed perfect pillars on each end of the spectrum, to give the place a wide and full variety of things for people to do, then whenever a new book or movie or whatever popped up, they merged pretty well together.
The whole thing started as "The Writer's Cult." If I remember correctly, Dennis, himself, said it was almost a fan site for Denis Johnson, it was just a turn of luck that he decided to go with Chuck.
Actually, typing and thinking this all out, I might have figured out what it was and if it was that, then it probably shouldn't be brought up or mentioned out here in the open.
Disregard Everything You've Read!
Tuffy, I read the entire thing late last night. Your name and comment was just used, as context to jab at Brandon. But, I don't think Big S meant for you to be involved, nor Brandon.
You were the 'knock knock, who's there?' in the bad joke.
It went something along the lines of:
Tuffy-Sands got 5 stars!
Big S-Just like Tietz*.
(See? It was just a mean little quip/afterthought.)
And it wasn't even that evil a jab. I think it was the build up of various accounts and comments, that upset Brandon T.
What's so bad about disliking someone and their work? Just be upfront, and then leave it be. Pretending to be a friend is wrong. Making up and entire website dedicated to hating is jacked up, and a time waster. It's not funny. Only vindictive. For some reason, some people think that being a complete asshole is funny. It only works with fictional characters. There is nothing redeeming about it. It's all immediate gratification that amounts to nothing, and reflects more of the person's character than anything else.
Now if Big S writes about parallel characters of himself and Big S and took it to an ultimate level, that would be both therapeutic and highly readable. And I really would like to read more from Big S.
However, after all that, Big S is having a baby. Perfect timing. A beautiful sweet baby. He will have to pacify something besides his animosity. It's going to be so good for him. Some of this angst bleeds out into real life, and S.* doesn't need the anger issues. He has a fresh fragile new life, for which to be fully responsible. He is really trying to focus on the positive. Good luck Big S.

When I first joined here I was a member of a couple other forums, one of them a band one (now defunct) I had no intention of sticking around, it was just the random thing I found that week but then I started reading threads outside of GD and was all Holy Shit! these people are obsessed about this writer on an even higher level than the people on the band site are about the band! But it is Amusingly Creepy because the focus is all on one person instead of a more abstract object like a band. So then I stuck around a little while longer just to get some kicks about the obsession and next thing I knew I found GD and noticed the workshop and have been trapped wandering around wondering what to do with myself now ever since ever since.
Well, my point was, even back then, to a first time visitor here the site appeared to be very very much all about Chuck upon the first one over of it.
Also. You trolled the shit out of me Nate. I might have left if it didn't make me laugh so much that first week.
It is all your fault I am trapped.
Yeah, I can see that Dress Down thing being a big problem. I hadn't considered that. But one of the greatest lessons I felt I learned in the workshop was to always be a little courageous, not to let peripheral things slow you down or embarrass you, that actually doing the work of writing was the single most important thing there is.
If it was because of PA or any of the other goofy, harmless threads in GD, then that seems a bit petty. Nothing there any more time-wasting or bullshitty than 98% of the rest of the internet. If anything, I'd hope GD and the Workshop, side by side, would give things more a feel that this writer or that writer was a more fully developed personality.
I dunno. Lately I've been this big kick of people having their own personality and multiple interests, not just some boring single-minded goal or standpoint that just feels joyless.
So all this could be in my head.

Plus, surely you've seen how every so often some kid with a Tyler Durden as God mindset join up and binge on thread making. (For whatever reason it always seemed to be in the Fall when school started or Spring when school was letting out.) Some of those could be Amusingly Creepy, but there's more than enough of them that were insightful or enlightening. That's the whole thing about Chuck being the foundation where everything then grows. If this place had started just as www.genericwhatever.com and had just been GD and a writer's workshop it probably wouldn't have lasted. But having that core, that heart, it starts to become a lot more than just another website and feels like a home.
~~>I defy you to come up with any proof of me being mean to you, or even any new member!<~~
Whenever anyone joined I always tried to make them feel welcome or make a joke/post a funny picture or ask them some questions that tried to show I was paying attention to what they posted and not what I felt like could be an automatic, standard reply, like "Where ya from?"
It's like when people say "God bless you" after I sneeze. Drives me crazy. I just want to yell at them "You didn't really mean that!"
*dropping it.
I actually have an account here from around 5 or 6 years ago. Only used it a few weeks.
Then, I got busy-fired from a secretarial job, and joined the military. So, I remember what the old site looked like. It was pretty neat, even back then.
From my intro thread.

yes, I see what you are saying. I did quickly realise most of the Chuck related activity was old or happening in rare and random bursts.
I don't have any specific examples, but for a brief period no matter what I posted, if you had anything to say to me at all, it was just some random image as a response.
I'm not mad about it! ha. It was weird and funny and I didn't know what to do or say.
I haven't been able to have a good "State of the Cult" nonsense in like 3 years. I HAVE TO GET IT OUT!

I think Nightrious was like that to everyone to try and weed out the weak and unworthy.

But it wasn't anything mean-spirited or anything was it? Most times whenever I'd post a picture of animated gif, I'd try to make sure it at least somehow related to the topic at hand, even if it was a stretch to see the connection. But, yeah, I think there probably was a span there where I'd just post random gifs.
I can't tell you how proud I still am of these two, they were the first ones I made myself instead of just reposting someone else's gifs. I can only imagine it's the same feeling as being a parent!

Yeah those are pretty great.
ha no, not anything mean spirited.
Also, another one of the first things I remember here was a thread by Nightious telling everyone off. And a thread about some guy called Tuffy the DumpTruck being dead, that one may have been after my first long hiatus, don't recall specifically. I remember being quite worried and I didn't even know the weirdo.
I don't know how old this thing is, but, given current affairs, it's one of the most gloriously inappropriate things I've ever seen!
Also, speaker warning! They got the volume cranked up for whatever reason.

Ha! I made the Tuffy one. He hadn't been around in a long while and I felt like people had forgotten him and since most people wait till someone dies to say something good about them, I figured it would be a great idea to get ahead of the ball with one helluva attention-grabbing title. Probably should have done it in a better way, but I'm happy with the legacy it's left in it's wake.(<~Pun!)
I take a week off and Fooking Nate eugoogolizes me.

It was at least a good 15 days. On the internet, that's like 90 days in dog years, which I think works out to 630 human days.
Checkout this witchcraft!

See! When you read the whole thing it doesn't sound bad. You mentioned "anguishy teenagers" in your post, of course I'm gonna say something about teenagers after that. Your reply wasn't anything that seemed to be offended by it.
Unless I'm reading it all in the wrong voice in my head, which could be possible.
Also, yeah, 3:20 pm is inconclusive as to whether I had been drinking or not.

Nice. Colbert didn't use the aired clip. They used the internet clip. That's hilarious.

Wow that's crazy, Ritt. That guys eyebrows match his mustache.
The whole thing reminds me of this:
That is a lot of rigamarole to go through every single day just to close a fence.
They ought to try something like that on the US-Mexico border.
