I threw mine across the room with all the force I could muster a couple of months ago and it still works.

You can't see it in the video, but if you listen, the way people go "OOOHH" at one point implies to me that she hit him or shoved him first. And I am of the opinion that women do not have free reign to strike men and be free of the consequences. Now, it's possible that he uppercut her and threw her off the bus with no prior physical provocation, and that's not right. But if she hit him first, that's her problem.

I feel like behaviour like that is almost beyond gender boundaries. Girls like that behave the way they do because they think there are no consequences to their actions. Maybe she'll think a little longer next time before she starts mouthing off. I doubt it though.

An adult should not strike a child in such a way. (she was a teenager=child) Unless it is a matter of personal safety or protecting the safety of another.

What if that old lady had struck one of the children that were bullying her on the bus? Well they were younger and more defenseless, but she was older and weaker so it would have evened out right?.

In my opinion that is the only thing in question here, not whether men can hit women, but can adults hit children when the children are mouthing off.

If you are not the parent/guardian or otherwise close to the child adult and the smack is not on the ass or thighs, then NO. Adults may not hit children.

Well, we have to consider at what age that stops becoming an issue, because the arbitrary age of 18 means nothing with regards to questions of maturity. At her age, she should have known better to act that way, and again, I believe she struck him first. The law makes it clear that striking a child is impermissible, but that does not mean that teens should not think carefully before they strike an adult.

If it was a school bus then he, as a school bus diver, is at fault for this. He is at fault for letting it escalate to that point without calling for help, he is at fault for taking his hand to a child. If she struck him first I suppose it could be seen as self defense.

Just that if they were on the street, or a city bus, there would have been ambiguity as to where she was legally of adult age or still a minor. It would have been more blurry than someone who was obviously a student on a school bus and underage. School bus drivers know the age, or at least the grades of their riders.
