[Very accurate] personality test
I've recently discovered this personality assessment called the enneagram. I've since bought a couple of books on it, as it's very interesting not to mention helpful. If you're interested in self discovery or other psychological things, you'll definitely like this test. Post what type you are here, it's always fun to compare. [And hey, if it happens to not be accurate, at least you killed some time or eased some boredom.]
It's the first one.

Have fun!
Oh...if this is posted in the wrong place, I'm sorry. I'm new here. (:
"We know everything was built to expire..."
I tied.
Type Two
The Helper:
The caring, interpersonal type. Twos are empathetic, sincere, and warm-hearted. They are friendly, generous, and self-sacrificing, but can also be sentimental, flattering, and people-pleasing. They are well-meaning and driven to be close to others, but can slip into doing things for others in order to be needed. They typically have problems with possessiveness and with acknowledging their own needs. At their Best: unselfish and altruistic, they have unconditional love for others.
Type Six
The Loyalist
The committed, security-oriented type. Sixes are reliable, hard-working, responsible, and trustworthy. Excellent "troubleshooters," they foresee problems and foster cooperation, but can also become defensive, evasive, and anxious—running on stress while complaining about it. They can be cautious and indecisive, but also reactive, defiant and rebellious. They typically have problems with self-doubt and suspicion. At their Best: internally stable and self-reliant, courageously championing themselves and others.
You're a brighter little soul than all of the jaded people here. Never take them seriously. NEVER.
I got Type 2 ahead of Type 6 by 1.
So me and technicolorxxx are alike somewhat.
I got type 9 1 point ahead of type 4, but I took it yesterday so I don't remember what either of the two are.
I got type 5, which is pretty accurate from the description:
Fives are alert, insightful, and curious. They are able to concentrate and focus on developing complex ideas and skills. Independent, innovative, and inventive, they can also become preoccupied with their thoughts and imaginary constructs. They become detached, yet high-strung and intense. They typically have problems with eccentricity, nihilism, and isolation. At their Best: visionary pioneers, often ahead of their time, and able to see the world in an entirely new way.
* Basic Fear: Being useless, helpless, or incapable
* Basic Desire: To be capable and competentKey Motivations: Want to possess knowledge, to understand the environment, to have everything figured out as a way of defending the self from threats from the environment.
I always enjoy tests like these.
EDIT: By "pretty accurate" I meant to say "eerily spot on." It fits me perfectly.
I'd like to see you Culties take a Carl Jung test or the other personality test I can't seem to remember at the moment. Frick. I'd have to refer to a psych text to find it.
There's a thread with the Jung test on here.
None of these are very accurate, though.
Cool. I'll look it up tomorrow then. I noticed that bc it was really short compared to actual APA approved personality tests I've taken before. I just can't remember what the other one was called! ...Myers-Briggs! Had to Google.
There's really no good measure of personality because it's too multifaceted. Myers-Briggs is the one everyone uses, but it's still kind of meh.
I'M RAINING ON PARADES!
I actually did a presentation in my one psych class about the inaccuracies of these test. They work the same way that psychics and horoscopes work. When positive statements are given to us - we tend to make them work. Because at times we all procrastinate and other times we plan ahead and get shit done. So both statements work.
I actually had 5 people fill out test. I then gave them detailed personality descriptions. I told them to read them and to rate them. The average rating was like a 9 out of 10. I gave them all the same results.
When I get home - I will copy and paste the paper I typed for each one.
One person actually said, "I can't believe how spot on this is. It's as if you had somebody following me around and taking notes. You have to tell me how knew all of this stuff about me."
Surprisingly, nobody was upset when I revealed the truth. I thought they would be pissed that I tricked them all.
Pete knows!
I like it when people know things i know.
Wow hahaha. I just remembered when my sophomore psych teacher pulled a similar stunt. He gave us all a slip of paper and like most of his class experiments, no communication amongst each other was allowed. These papers had a broad description of standard people, but they way he made it seem by personally handing out slips about his opinion on each of our personalities made us trust that he was actually trying to figure us out. We all raised our hands when he asked if the description was anything like what we are and we found out that all slips were exactly the same. It said some crap like, "You're a caring individual who loves to help friends and live in the moment of life with special talents that will take you far in life" or some bullshit like that. Pretty clever they way he did it, but I suck at explanations so it's a you-had-to-be-there kind of moment.
Mine:
Type Three
The Achiever
The adaptable, success-oriented type. Threes are self-assured, attractive, and charming. Ambitious, competent, and energetic, they can also be status-conscious and highly driven for advancement. They are diplomatic and poised, but can also be overly concerned with their image and what others think of them. They typically have problems with workaholism and competitiveness. At their Best:: self-accepting, authentic, everything they seem to be—role models who inspire others.
The bold is very much me.
The teacher asked more questions than the students at the end of my presentation because I proved some of the stuff he said wrong.
What I did was called the Forer Effect. What I wrote was based on the ten statements he came up with - but mine was way more detailed. I wrote like 2.5 pages or so. Here's a link to the wikipedia page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forer_effect
Here's a video of Derren Brown doing pretty much the exact same thing I did. What I did was based mostly on Derren's writing. I found a copy of what he wrote.
That's basically it. Stringer, psych teacher, had this thing where he tweaked the experiments into his own creation. It was good that he did bc another student and me already knew about the 40 Studies that Changed Psychology book he read quite often to the class.
I just looked that book up. It's got a lot of great experiments in it. But I didn't see Bertram Forer's in there.
It says I am a Night Elf Mohawk.

Why aren't you in bed, Mr. T?
Because I am at work. There are no beds here... well there are, but they're gross and intended for prisoner use only.

Our prisoners don't get beds right now because the jail is too full. They get the floor and a mat.

Sucks to be them.

how many people here would describe themselves as insightful, curious, interpersonal, adaptable, success driven, and everything else? it's almost a form of cold reading, when a psychic stands in a room full of people and asks if anyone knows a person whose name starts with "d,"n in reverse.
You're just jealous that you're not as insightful, curious, interpersonal, adaptable, success driven, and everything else as i am.
I got type 5, it is rather accurate yet very vauge at the same time. I was intrigued buy the fact that #5 was most similar to the INTP results I always get on that other test.
Also, actually answering the questions was a bit difficult because I could have honestly answered yes to either answer on nearly every single question so I ended up answering yes for the quality I wished was strongest out of the two for most of them. This is making me think that a lot of the time the answers one gives are idealistic to what they wish to see themselves as being, and therefore they end up with a result that they feel fits them so well.
It would be interesting to see the results of someone else taking a personality test and answering for a friend how they perceive them to be.
i am all too sensitive, aware, and insightful about that fact.
Did anyone else notice that Rodz the topic creator did not give his/her results to us?
Now I am paranoid.
Personality tests are fun and all, but they shouldn't be taken seriously. Especially when you're taking them on the internet, outside of a clinical or experimental setting. There is, believe it or not, a reason why people get doctorates in psychology.
I'm pretty even across the board except for personality types 1 and 8
So I don't reform and I'm not much of a challenger I guess.
9 was my strongest personality type.
I got type 2. GRRR I'm not that needy. Tsk.

Nor will you see Zimbardo's in there either, but at least they have Milgram and Rosenhan
These two statements totally prove my point. Thank you pepper.
I'm all over the board. Type 3, 6, and 7 I scored 5 in each and 4, 5, and 8 I scored 4 in each.... Mnnnn. I think I'm a walking contradiction.

The Enthusiast
The busy, productive type. Sevens are extroverted, optimistic, versatile, and spontaneous. Playful, high-spirited, and practical, they can also misapply their many talents, becoming over-extended, scattered, and undisciplined. They constantly seek new and exciting experiences, but can become distracted and exhausted by staying on the go. They typically have problems with impatience and impulsiveness. At their Best: they focus their talents on worthwhile goals, becoming appreciative, joyous, and satisfied.
“The man of knowledge must be able not only to love his enemies but also to hate his friends.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche
I've been told I'm a solid Seven.
On a scale of ten, I figure that, combined with my charms, should get me laid soon.
Type 2. Accurate for now.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
These two statements totally prove my point. Thank you pepper.
Glad to be of service.
Anyway! Everyone has to stop posting their answers in here!!
Rodz never gave his results which means he is likely conducting some strange experiment on us all, prbably of the government conspiracy type.
DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BE RESEARCH??? DO YOU REALLY WANT THEM TO HAVE YOUR PSYCOLOGICAL DNA??? FOR FREE???

He's just following Tuffy's words: make research. It could be for a school discertation like what HopiBloodTransfusion tried to do a while back.

I took the free RHETI Sampler just for fun and to kill my boredom. Turns out I'm Type Five. The Investigator:
The perceptive, cerebral type. Fives are alert, insightful, and curious. They are able to concentrate and focus on developing complex ideas and skills. Independent, innovative, and inventive, they can also become preoccupied with their thoughts and imaginary constructs. They become detached, yet high-strung and intense.
