Top 2 movies?
Lame topic i know, but bored and couldn't think of anything better.
So, what are everyone's top 2 movies and why?
Personally it'd have to be
1. fight club
2. the matrix
simply because i love mindfuck movies. both make you think, and as i hadnt read the book first, and can be pretty thick[most of the time] i didnt see the whole tyler doesnt really exist, thing coming.
I would've made it three, but i can't think of three movies i'd class as top quality, not to me anyway. I'm not expecting fight club as number 1 or even number 2, infact it'd be pretty bad if we could think of nothing else...
So, go for it...
kl0pper i love you
1) Das Boot
2) Fight Club
HurlyBurly
Requiem
with runners up
Talent Mr Ripley
Mulholland Drive

Moving and compelling, both truly cinematic achievements of the grandest spectacle ever known to mankind. Once seen, never forgotten.
- Triumph of the Will
- Buttman does Ben Dover's English Muffins
The mind is the limit. I am going to be the best personal trainer to ever exist on this earth. I am going to inspire, motivate, and change lives. I have that power. There is not a doubt in my mind that I can make you have an orgasm just from the power of my mind via the internet. I'm a giver like that. I can heal you. I can make you whole. That's Brock. That's what I do. Moving on...
This is making me spew my coffee onto the screen...the word "muffins" by itself is funny, but just hearing and then saying aloud "buttman does ben dover's english muffins"...hehehe, my god...
Anyway, my two favorite movies have always been Raiders of the Lost Ark and Superman...I guess because now they mostly make me feel like a kid again.
andy
I'll admit it... I dig Chris Reeve as Superman, although "Superman II" was always the best in my book... mostly cause of the baddies from space led by Terence Stamp. Plus the whole storyline about becoming mortal was great, especially when he gets his ass kicked sticking up for Margot Kidder. I get psyched just watching the credits for Superman, true, and I still have a hard time watching any new superhero flick compared to that one... although The Hulk looks bad ass with Eric "Chopper" Bana...

# 1 Wings of Desire
# 2 Is a tie between The Godfather & Harold and Maude
I wish this were the top five thread.
Terence Stamp has one the greatest speeches ever in movie with the first Superman, when he's yelling at Marlon Brando. I know it by heart:
"...yours will a great voice in the new order, second only to my own. I offer you a chance at GREATNESS, Jor-el!! Take it!! JOIN US!! You WILL bow down before me Jor-el, I swear it...no matter if it takes an eternity!!! YOU WILL BOW DOWN BEFORE ME!!! FIRST YOU, AND THEN ONE DAY...YOUR HEIRS!!!"
Terence Stamp is fucking awesome.
andy
"...yours will BE"
damn stupid typo
I said that already, with image.
favorites for me change all the damn time, so i really dont have fluid favorites..so, as of the present moment the movies that are my favorite are;
amelie
pulp fiction
but the movies that i watch most frequently are;
tommy boy
secretary
with a bit of luck, his life was ruined forever. always thinking that just behind some narrow door in all of his favorite bars, men in red woolen shirts are getting incredible kicks from things he'll never know.
Movies I watch most frequently:
1) Snatch
2) Trainspotting
Favs:
1) Saving Private Ryan
2) American Beauty
These are kind of knee jerk reactions though, so really I can't say this with 100% confidence.

life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
The matrix is SO teh faget. It does not even deserve to be capitalized anymore. Well, anyway...
1. Boondock Saints
3. Fight Club

There is hope, but not for us.
Pre-dik-ta-b-... no, i cant. sorry, lost the gift of speech upon arrival at ze work.
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
Yeah, I understand. I've been out of school for a day; already my mind is dying in a little squishy pile of grey matter. Quite sad, really.
There is hope, but not for us.
I love The Matrix!
Boo! Boo, the Cheat!
There is hope, but not for us.
I like it, too, but oh well.
"Harold and Maude"
Yey.
Hrm, two I watch the most would probably be the same as Rents, heh. Dammit. Seriously, Trainspotting comes on HBO (or is it cinemax?) all the time. And my friends watch Snatch religiously, so, yeah, heh.
Fight Club & Se7en, I guess, I dunno... I can't pick favorites. I'm incapable of it.
I've always wanted to see Harold and Maude ever since my sociology textbook used it as an example of gender rolebreaking in sexuality. I was like, "Wow. That sounds so gross. Must see." Is it that good?
There is hope, but not for us.
Gender rolebreaking? Hrm... I guess.
It is incredibly wonderful, though. Great, great, great greatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreat movie. It's definitely helped me out. After I saw that movie, I was fucking giddy as hell for like a week straight, haha. It just makes you feel good. A lot of the "just let go"-ness of Fight Club, except from a totally different angle.
And it's more effective. Cos it's a way to let go that is a bit more feasible. Well, maybe less feasible, depending on the person, I guess.
I dont' get it! What's wrong with The Matrix?

Well, Wes hates flashy action movies. I can understand that. Simply a matter of different opinions.. I agree to an extent, but I don't think simply being a flashy action movie should instantly mark it as 'bad'.
naturally no. its just marked a 'oh fuck, im steering clear- id rather NOT be bored to death', thats all.
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
I understand. My mom thinks the fight scenes looks really cheesy. She doesn't understand that kung fu is the fucking hardest thing in the world to learn.
But it's not all about flashy shit. Ahh whatever. I still love you.
i lovems u too, but just not teh movie.
and isnt wing chung even more for hardcore than the fu?
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_

1. Clockwork Orange
2. Requiem for a Dream
(honourable mention) Dr. Strangelove
And now for no good reason of all, retitling of films for the wrong target audience because I'm bored and don't feel like starting a new topic. Feel free to make up your own. Here are two.
1. Pray tell, good sir, have you seen my automobile?
2. Me and Andre shootin' the shit over chicken and waffles
