The New Postcard Thread.
I posted this in the mailman always rings twice group, but I'm not even sure where that post shows up, so I am posting it here as well.
For those of you who are not aware, a lot of us used to be pretty active about sending postcards and the occasional package to each other. I used to receive a postcard at least every few months, but it has been a while since I received anything as many of the most active members have since defected to the thunderdome.
Sometimes the postcards were handmade and sometimes they were store bought. Regardless, its always fun to get little surprises in the mail. Especially when said surprises are not demanding money. I would like to get this going again!!
The cost to send a postcard within the US is $.28, to send one internationally is $.98, so its pretty cheap to make a Cultie smile.
If you are interested in participating post here and then PM me your address. I will compile a list of addresses and send it out to the participating members. If no one is interested anymore I will only cry a little.
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."

I have a HOUSEBOATING postcard from like the 60s or something. Features a floating trailer and the people who dwell within. Will scan when convenient.
Awesome I'm in. I recently found a few items that I need to send to some culties plus i just bought a new set of note cards/envelopes which I've been designing that need to go on a journey somewhere.
So in! I got a postcard this morning from Mirka, and I had no idea it was coming. It was such a beautiful surprise. I definitely smiled.
Me too.
In!!
"I hope you realise the story you're telling yourself, because every day you die for it."
I'm In!
"Gimme some paper, shitbird!"
I'm extremely new and have bad handwriting, but also have a postcard with a recipe for beef tortillas on, may I join?
You look like the type of guy / gal, who would like:
I got this Christmas Card thing from Jazmyn, i'll have to show it when i get the chance.
Im in.
To the new folks: I'm going to have to exclude y'all for the time being. I don't feel comfortable giving out names and addresses to people I don't know anything about. Kick back, post a bit, let us get to know you and then I'll be happy to include you.
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."
-LaJessica
You have my address
I know it by heart!
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."

It easy to remember when it has no letters.
(I'm not in because I suck at mailing stuff)

Don't you mean number?
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."
-LaJessica
Ha yeah... oops.

They are trying to bring in postcodes and numbers to Irish addresses. I refuse. I will never give up my cat or my numberless address.
Insert pic of Mel Gibson before he went nuts shouting FREEDOM!
I've never heard of numberless addresses this day in age. Can you give a generic example for curiosity's sake?

That so awesome. I want an address like that.
I think I'll be in on this too. I'd ask that you not give my address to any weirdos, but, it's you guys. So how about you just not give my address to any really batshit crazy weirdos.
Kay, I won't give your address to Tuffy.
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."
-LaJessica
Zing!

I'll give it a few more days before I send out the list. I don't want to have to keep adding to it.
Noah, I need you to send me your address.

Many many moons ago when I first took part in this I sent out 24 Valentines cards in one go. Half of them were to dudes. Including Frank. It was fun.
I'd like to do this. I'm new to some of you, but I'm not really new. It's more like you're new to me. Or we're new to each other. Or I'm new again, but not new. Or you aren't new to me but I forgot a little.
If I can't participate or whatever, just print this post out and hang it on your wall or bulletin board and put a picture of a sad looking puppy or kitten next to it. That's my postcard. My broken hearted postcard to you.
I think you're good.
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."
-LaJessica
Are you sure? Cause I have all these sad puppy and kitten pictures I was gonna post.
Just kiddin'
Sounds fun. I'm in! There are some pretty awesome postcards around here.
"We're developing a new citizenry. One that will be very selective about cereals and automobiles, but won't be able to think."

I'm in, PM sent.
"When it looks up at the stars, then closes its eyes, shutting itself off from its surroundings, I sensed my own inner longing for the infinite."
Who are you?
Seriously. Anyway, I'm in.
Should I be PMing you my address. Is that how this is gonna work?
'tis.
And I need a little help from the regulars on this. There are two people who aren't noobs, but I know nothing about and have never seen before. I need y'alls opinion on whether or not they should be included. I hate to be calling people out or whatever, but we're dealing with personal information here.
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."
-LaJessica
My mama said never to talk to anyone from Kansas. We don't have any of THOSE people here do we?
You know in all the years I've been here I've never been sigged?
He's at Pershing Sq., Mckay, Duh!
And yeah, I'll echo the 'not wanting my personal info shared with non-regulars' thing. Although, if someone was to go to all the effort of stalking me, all the way down here, I'd probably have to reward them or something.
Just basking in the love and admiration here.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Just basking in the love and admiration here.
It flows out of me like light from the sun.
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."
-LaJessica
The list has been sent!
Several people expressed concern about having people we don't know as well receive their personal info. I believe the only people in this category are Irina Marina and MyLastName. So what I did is include their addresses in the list, but I did not send a copy of the list to them. If you would like to send them postcards, go for it. If you would like to share your address with them I will leave it up to you to send them your info.
Now get to sending snail mail!!
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."
-LaJessica
And you all have to sing Mail Time! when you get a postcard.
Of course!
I still sing that song everyday as it is.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Damn you. I know every word to that song, but had almost... almost forgotten, as I have not watched blues clues for some 6 years now.
Mom's gonna fix it all soon.
I have now sent out cards to everyone!!
Has anyone else sent any?
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."
-LaJessica
