Hey, good morning Chix!
What flavors are you making?
Good morning y'all. Just mashed in, running some quick bitterness calculations, it's a great day.

An Old Ale. Basically, I was going for something in the zip code of Old Peculiar. But between one thing and another, I got less than the batch size I was aiming at but a hell of a lot more original gravity. So this one will be flirting with the barleywines....

Yum. Good morning. I could use some of that....I'm about to slip out the door to go fishing with Gibby and my brother.....
and fishing without beer is like....sitting.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Well, this might not be the best fishin' beer. This beer will likely finish out in the 8% ABV neighborhood. My experience has been that such beverages are only good for fishing if you want to fall in the lake.
A nice Ordinary Bitter, that'd be the thing to take fishin'.

there's also a big difference between "fishing" and "catching"
i made belgian waffles for breakfast. sunday am breakfasts make life worth living!!
anyone got any good easy recipes for french toast? its basically just eggs an some sugar you batter the bread in right?
that sounds really good for breakfast this morning
well, the key element is the bread... if you can get a stale italian loaf, that works really well. i like to put a little vanilla extract in the batter, too. but your batter should be eggs, cream and cinnamon at the very least.
INGREDIENTS
6 thick slices bread
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
salt to taste
DIRECTIONS
Beat together egg, milk, salt, desired spices and vanilla.
Heat a lightly oiled griddle of skillet over medium-high flame.
Dunk each slice of bread in egg mixture, soaking both sides. Place in pan, and cook on both sides until golden. Serve hot.

I don't know if they got any cinnamon or nutmeg down there, but I know there's some brown sugar. Which may just have to suffice
great, now i'm hungry for french toast. if i hadn't already ingested a gallon of syrup i'd seriously consider making some...

can you buy specifically stale loafs of bread for stuff like that? or do you just look for the clearance rack in the bakery?
I wouldn't put it past them to market and sell intentionally stale loaves!
great, now i'm hungry for french toast. if i hadn't already ingested a gallon of syrup i'd seriously consider making some...
you're waffles were what made me first hungry for french toast!
I knew there was no chance of me making them right now and I figured french toast was the closest I could come

yeah, the day-old rack is where i'd look... or if you've got the foresight, just leave a fresh loaf out for a coupla days.
i blame this whole thing on mirka's avatar of waffles with syrup dripping off of them... honestly, it's almost perverse how long i've stared at it, just daydreaming. that avatar=porn to the binge eater
Every time I see that avatar with the delicious waffles I want a huge stack of them.
I haven't had pancakes or waffles in ages. You guys are making me hungry.

i think my ad-blocker is set to restrictive because it shows me as her not having an avatar
now I'm glad it doesn't!

I am the KING of hi-jacking threads!
although it is about breakfast which still has something to do with having a good morning
I still thought it was very 'good morning' related.

Yeah, he and I are proof of that. We got skunked again but it's OK.
It's really more about spending a few hours with my brother and his dog,
smoking a couple cigars, drinking coffee and just hanging out on the Mississippi.
And I'll stick to that story untill we get some fish.
I did see a few ducks, several geese, a 3foot snake, a squished frog,
some beaver-chewed trees a mile-long coal train
and a couple varment holes that I was briefly tempted to shove an arm or leg into.
It was a good morning.

like you were "noodling"? are you familiar with this concept?

didn't you ever see that Flash Gordon movie?
that scene freaked me out
like you were "noodling"? are you familiar with this concept?
No noodling for me. The snapping turtles scare me.
I love watching it though.
We were fishing smallmouth bass.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
i could never even watch it!! i first heard about it from mike rowe on "dirty jobs" and i decided that might be my idea of a personal hell, having to noodle for food.
I'd like a thread about Good Morning Threats.
[threat]Get the fuck outta bed or I'll...I'll call the police cops![/threat]
what exactly is that stick measuring? it looks like it's going backwards
It's a hydrometer, and what it shows is specific gravity. Basically, how much not water is dissolved in the water. After the wort has fermented into beer, the specific gravity is lower, and the difference between the before and after is a good indication of alcohol content.
Though, since alcohol lighter than water, the fermented SG is skewed a bit. Still, short of sending it off to Sebold for lab analysis (expensive) it gives you something to write in your brew log.

mmmm.....beeeeeer.
How much are you making Chix?
Good morning.

the coffee was strong.
I have tests today.
grunsffhjasdfahmbshf!

it is an excellent morning. i have my coffee, my nile cd, and my big outer space potato friend.

Good Morning. I have a second cup of coffee! This is very important to basic function.
I hope you all are doing well and having a nice day thus far.
Good coffee is like drinking Rock and Roll.
Well, i'm having some cereal and enjoying the late morning before heading into work today.
Good morning everyone - I hope all is well as you begin your day.
I am not actually perky. I am jus thoping to force the coffee to kick in.

so did it work? I had a couple of cups this morning at home but I skipped bringing any in for work - or buying any on the way. Might sound dumb, but this is LANDMARK.
getting healthy is all fun and games until you go on vacation. I have a trip to the cabin next weekend and I know the guys are going to want to grill all kinds of meat and drink and etc. if I drink, I am going to WANT to smoke.
maybe I just won't drink. I'll come up with something fun, but alc free.
I am still drinking coffee and figure I'll make another pot. Water is starting to look a little overrated.
You can enjoy grilled meat without drinking. It's true though - if you drink, you will be more likely to smoke. If I even have one drink I will bum a cigarette from someone. It really does go hand in hand.
Remember, if you're sober, you get to document the foolish things drunk people do. Eventually I had to destroy a tape of someone puking from a hotel balcony in Galveston.

it is a shitty morning. im bored of all my music on this computer, i dont have my new dimmu cd, and the coffee is horrible.

are you depressed? has our high interest rates got you down? my name is levi, and i'm here to offer you a once-in-a lifetime opportunity. sell your organs! LIVE! over the internet! get money back on your baby! that didn't sound right. where's my sheet?
Wait a minute Levi - we already have a Levi. I am afraid you will have to adopt a new name. Or perhaps challenge the standing Levi to a razor wire cage match to the pain.
Let us know your decision in in the New Member's section where you create a thread and tell us about yourself.

So you like cage matches in the morning too?
I'd like you to tell me that you are a false prophet and that God is a superstition.
I think you really have to have something to get you properly motivated in the mornings. Most of the time, coffee does the trick for me but sometimes I need the exhilaration of a dangerous battle.
I mean, not me, of course. I have coffee to drink. Someone else needs to fight.

Good morning all, and happy Friday!
I have a cup of freshly ground Peet's Coffee-Major Dickason's Blend.
Thanks Mirka, this is some damn fine coffee!

Happy Friday, Jim! You sound like you're in a great mood!
Good coffee is like drinking Rock and Roll.
I always wake up happy.
It annoys the shit out of everyone I've ever lived with.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
You're happy before coffee?
Good coffee is like drinking Rock and Roll.
Yup! I usually wake up smiling.
Kind of a mischevious smile, but a smile all the same.
And it just keeps getting better.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
I'm impressed. It takes me a little while but I try not to gripe at anyone. I am just not perky.
Good coffee is like drinking Rock and Roll.
'perkiness' can be a potent weapon.
I have a customer that's always crabby and grumbling...when he turns red and the veins start bulging I say "Awwww, C'mere Bob, let's have a hug."
Then he quits bitching and leaves. Works every time.
