The Civil War
THE MUSICAL.
When I was in D.C. in May, at the newly renovated Ford's Theatre, they had this musical version of the Civil War. It's not like you're thinking. It's like, excerpts from Lincoln's speaches and Frederick Douglas' speaches spoken like vignettes, and then they'd have a song that was sort of isolated about something, then do another vignette. it was really awesome. We sat in the balcony, so we were basically looking down on the stage, and then right across into the presidential booth where lincoln was shot. Awesome. This is my favorite song from it. They'd have sad song sung by union wives back at home about their missing husband, and songs by slaves that were really soulful, and songs by rowdy southern soldiers. I loved it. This one is awsome!
the footage doesn't really go with it.....
I wanted to buy the soundtrack to the thing, but the CD was like, literally $40. I think this play was on broadway in like, the 1990's, but now it's on in DC.

Did you know Lincoln's first choice to head the Union army was Robert E. Lee. But he defected to the South.

I think this chick is singing this song too 'brassy' and not emotional enough. the chick I saw in Ford's Theatre was soo heartfelt. this is an amazing song.
