The Chronology of Water - Lidia Yuknavitch
since we are who we are, i really hope the cult would band together and help an author who really deserves it. you might not know Lidia's name, unless you have read CAVERNS, and not many have. this book is kind of her unfinished autobiography (because she's still doing stuff) but, unlike other people, her life is worth reading about. i have met her, trust me.
the book will not be out until april, but you can pre-order it from powells just as easy as clicking below

“...There are so many ways of being despicable it quite makes one's head spin. But the way to be really despicable is to be contemptuous of other people's pain. You ought to have some apprehension that the man you see before you was once even younger than you are now and arrived at his present wretchedness by imperceptible degrees.”
-James Baldwin
im paraphrasing, so bear with me
lidia was a child of an abusive drunk and a mother who tended to be suicidal. she got a scholarship to swim at UofO, and somewhere in the middle her child died (i believe) and she proceeded to drink and do drugs and while flunking out, she got sorta dragged into a year long master course with ken kesey. the year long intensive involved living in communion with kesey and a dozen masters students, and led to a friendship with kesey that lasted until the end of his life.
her work in that course is in CAVERNS, a book written and by the class, and was published regardless of content because of some deal with kesey (who at the time had just come out of hiding)
lidia is part of the same circles as chuck palahniuk and monica drake. i told her i thought TELL-ALL was shit in a dust jacket, and she said she would tell chuck personally. haha
really of all the people ive met in literary schmoozing, lidia was one of the most fun.

As a student I was an editor for the Pacific Review when she was teaching at Pacific University in 1998. Cool chick. So nice. She introduced me to Harold Jaffe at the Benson Hotel.
I read Her Other Mouths and found it incredible. Short short fiction like poetry. Images shimmer. Lovely.
I look forward to reading her memoir.
Get the sugar. Get the sugar. Get the sugar.

I need to know why her life is worth reading about?
I think your link isn't working properly.
