The 25th Hour
Has anyone here seen the movie "The 25th Hour?" It's got our beloved Edward Norton in it and I think it is a really good flick. I was initially turned off by the fact that it was a "Spike Lee Joint" but as it turns out it is a pretty decent film, and much better than a lot of recent "Spike Lee Joints."
If you've seen it...tell us what you thought, and if you haven't seen it...go see it!

I don't think his movies are good...no reason behind that, just opinion. But don't stray off topic...that drives me insane...
just POST WHAT YOU THOUGHT ABOUT 25TH HOUR!

awesome movie. it may have not been one of the best of the year but norton and pepper were seriously overlooked in the contention for the best actor/best supporting actor academy awards.
my friend hated the ending but i thought leaving it open ended strengthened the message about the choices we make and their respective consequences.
its definately worth seeing, but there are a few scenes in the movie when you'll be shaking your head and thinking "yup, this is definately spike lee."
Then again, I might be wrong.
Aheffel, 25th hour is one of my top five favorite movies. The closing sequence was genius. The characters were incredible. I heart it strongly.
Watch out for small_fire, she and I already had an argument about this in another thread. She is very anti-25th hour.
There is hope, but not for us.
this is true. i do hate this movie. a lot. i already stated reasons why on another thread in the MOVIES and music section.
I haven't seen that, which thread is it? Just so we can have a friendly little chick flam war
There is hope, but not for us.
I forgot about the movies and music section when I started this thread, sorry.

Another fan has arisen! I thought I was the only one who loved this goddamn movie. It is so completely different from everything else I've ever seen, and I see too many movies (I saw everything up for an Academy Award this year, none of them impressed me like 25th Hour did). It's got balls, man. Ed Norton disses every group of people you can think of in New York City...Spike Lee or not, that takes testicles.
Then, showing Ground Zero...!
My stomach turned when Pepper beats Norton in the face to make him ugly. That was the most emotionally charged scene of all year.

yeh i saw it on friday and i really really liked. wish i had read the book first though grr
i NEED to see this film . . . the fact that spike lee is involved is a huge catalyst to experienceing it. do the right thing ruled. and, mars blackmon, do you know, do yo know. what an awesome character. how can we go wrong with our boy norton in th etitle role!?!
we actually talked about this movie a long time ago, when it first came out, and i waxed profound about the use of reflection throughout the movie. i'll refrain from a re-hash, but i did like the movie.
and i'm sad small_fire didn't.

gucci ghost, in one of my "waxing" moments, i mentioned that all the ground zero stuff was spike's nod to new york after 9/11. did you notice the footage wasn't of the rubble, it was of the almost-cleared site?
i agree. too much 9/11. The book had none of that. Good read too. David Benioff was the author if anyone is interested.

Just stay asleep, America, keep watching TV." - Bill Hicks
Hrm, I downloaded it, but god damn I fucking HATE TMD-Movies... Fuckers, omg... Such SHITTY quality.. I swear, did they fuckin bootleg it in the theatre or something? Their vids fucking blow. God dammit. I had to watch Rules of Attraction from their version, which nearly ruined the fucking movie for me.. So yeah, a minute into 25th hour and I'm trying to find a diff version on Kazaa...
Problem is, there aren't any... Fuck. Who the hell shares such SHITTY quality stuff? God dammit... It's ridiculous. I suppose I may just have to rent it one day. Or maybe sit throug this filthy TMD crap... Ugh, I can't stress how shitty their vids are... If you're ever DLing movies, STAY AWAY from the TMD ones.... Please, they're awful.

Why don't you like Spike Lee?
