Suggested Books?
I didn't know we could list, like, up to 15 books. I thought it was just supposed to be around 2 or 3. 4 at the most...
It's whatever you want.
Have there been any David Foster Wallace suggestions yet? If not, then I would recommend anything he's written.
See, I liked The Road... LOVED it, in fact, but I hated it until I was through reading it. So it goes...
Also, you have to read Franney and Zooey. Gah it's good.
Let's see... I read Slaughterhouse 5 in one of my classes this year and enjoyed it. If you like that kind of genre, look into Kindred by Octavia Butler. Another great book.
Other than those suggestions, though, everything else these fine folks have suggested is golden. :]
Too, I didn't know that The Contortionist's Handbook went out of print! I got mine on Amazon sometime this summer, I think, and spent like... 3 bucks on it. Wow.
Only out of jealousy do I say that I hate you. I had to spend $40 on the last "new" copy. New meaning no damage and in new condition, but it's also signed too. The people at Barnes & Noble said it went out of print, but it's whatever. A copy is on it's way now. Since we're on the topic of books and suggestions, anyone know where to find cheap (hopefully new) books online? A friend showed me to Borders used marketplace, but I was hoping for something with a little more promise to no damage with the book.
You people gave me more homework than I had planned. Thank you!
I have no idea where to get new books other than Amazon, which is where I buy almost all of my books.
I don't know, I prefer used books over new ones for some reason. I think it's kind of because I like to see that the book was loved, obsessed over, or hated before it got to me. Once I get it, it kind of has remnants of a former life in it and it feels more like a friend than a book. Ha. I don't know, that's kind of weird, but whatever.
I also prefer looking though people's collections of paperbacks than their hardback books. Paperbacks tend to show more wear and tear, so I see what kind of book-person someone really is by their worn paperbacks.
My Mum used to tell me that I shouldn't say I hated people because that meant I wished they were dead. I hate you Dan Brown and I wish you were dead.
you're dumb.

I hate you Vic Chesnutt and I---Oh. Oh. Too soon, monkey. Too, too soon.

AbeBooks
It's been since like, 02-03 since I ordered anything from them, but this is where I got all my Chuck first prints way back when. I think the most I paid for one was 13 bucks. All in hardback and they arrived looking like they just came off the shelf. yeah, it's been 6-7 years now, but I'd still recommend at least checking them out if you're looking for something.
Right, forgot to mention that I already get books at Amazon even though they're more expensive than local bookstores here. I hate used books only bc I rationalize it out to be that the damages are from how much the person didn't care about it while damages from my own show how much I love them. I need to find that Gotham bookstore's site. Thanks, Nathaniel.

I think we've just proved the reason this forum exists. Thank you people for the books and thoughts. I'll have to check into them later.
