Spring 2010 Cult Meet-Up: American Meetup Edition
So there's a chance I'm going to be in Louisiana late spring/early summer for a movie. If this turns out to happen, I'm going to cast my vote for New Orleans as this year's official meetup. So, I guess let's use this this thread to start that discussion: when/where/who's going to meet?
bah humbug. seattle!

Forget the West Coast!
I vote for New Orleans even though I doubt I could go.

Sweet home New Orleans, I can sho nuff hear ya callin',
Feel dat gentle rain a-fallin', singin' where ya at, my darlin'.
An' a new Mardi Gras, wanna second line,
From the Garden District, down to that Lower Nine.
Elysian Fields to Lake Pontchatrain,
You know it's strange, but some things remain unchanged.
Way on down by that Mississippi,
Gonna find that sweet ol' Crescent City,
Sweet Home New Orleans, love ta hear ya callin'.
I'm sorry, I thought this was the "what you're listening to" thread.
I probably won't be able to go, but if I can, I'd vote for New Orleans, too.

Okay, everyone who can't go wants it to be in NOLA. Got it.
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.
What we're saying is, "have fun hanging out, Timberly and Alex!"
Maybe you guys could scare Justin out of hiding too!
I'll go, it's a pretty short drive.
Ok... Stephen, Alex, and Timberly. Because I'm always down for New Orleans. I'm going next weekend to see the Drive-by Truckers!
Alex- I was actually supposed to be in Ogden in a few weeks, but the finances didn't work out. :[
What the shit would you be doing in Ogden? Also, Justin and Melody, so that makes 5.
Depends on when it is for me. I'll be in BR in April for a wedding and was planning on taking a few days in NOLA. I'll be passing through that way again in May on my way to/from Destin. I'm doing a lot of traveling in the next few months, so unless it coincides with some of those dates, I doubt I can make it.

My short story and one of my papers were accepted into that literary conference I'm always talking about and it's held at Weber every year. The school usually pays for the trip, but they can only pay for part of it this year and I just figured out I can't miss the amount of work it'd take for me to get to go. Sucks because the conference is fun and the town is beautiful in a creepy, beige sorta way.
What part of May? Anytime other than the first week of May is good for me. Plus it's not in the middle of the summer which is when Louisiana weather starts to melt you from the inside out.
End of may. Not sure of the dates, i'll have to check.

I do Nola. I am far overdue for some deep fried aligator.

love NOLA, wish i could go - a LOT of us will be in Denver on April 7-11 for the Denver AWP writing conference - that's an option

I wanna go but there's no way (unless I get a lot of money somehow) I could go to NOLA. I missed Portland because I wrecked my car, I can't get to NOLA because I'm poor, I'm sad now. I'd vote for somewhere I can actually get to. I would love to go to NOLA though, I've always wanted to go there.

Plans changed. Next meetup is is at Ms. Xaos's house.

There is hope, but not for us.

There is hope, but not for us.
Now I may be in New York City from mid-April to mid-June, so, if that happens, we should definitely have the meetup there.
you asshole.

There's a 50-50 chance I'll be able to scrape together the cash to actually come to a meetup, which would be awesome. Either New York or NOLA would be cool with me, though I have free sleeping space in NY. Unless the flood sweeps it away.
There is hope, but not for us.
You have free sleeping space in NOLA as well.

Anyone makes it to New York, first round's on me. Assuming you're legal drinking age.
hmm let's see...bars close in NY. bars do not close in NOLA.
If people are in NY before halfway through May, I'll make an appearance of some sort, since I school there. If not, I'm poor.

I am tentatively planning a trip to Chicago the first week in May. If anyone is going to be in the area, please let me know. I'll be hanging primarily with college friends but there's a chance they'll get sick of me real fast.
There is hope, but not for us.
Not that i'd show up to ruin the event or that my vote would even matter to anyone anyway but I vote for Chicago.
i aint here to live, i'm just here to dream
love to meet up jane - if i can get the leash extended from the burbs to the city

I obiesly support meet-ups in NYC.
Yay! I'm hoping to rope Frank and Sara into this jaunt, too. I believe both Sara and my friend Kristen live downtown. I don't know Chicago very well, though, and my general travel style is to just get to my destination and then plan the important stuff, like where to sleep.
There is hope, but not for us.
What are the dates in May? I will actually be in Chicago in May as well, though I think it's towards the end of the month.
Florida sounds good to me. Orlando is always a great place for you tourists...Miamia rocks too. Anyone with kids, coming to Tampa or Orlando is welcome to stay with us...anyone we pre-screen.
Stinging, as the thorn, is the splinter. From a seedling born...works itself under my skin.

It'll be the SECOND week of May, not the first. Like the 8th to the 14th or 15th. I talked to Sara today, and she's excited. Her boyfriend lives in Texas for work and I think she's starving for company, haha.
There is hope, but not for us.
Jane, that's an awful time to be in Chicago. I could get there the following week, though.
There is a chance I'll be there the weekend of the 15th, but I'll also be busy as a (noun) on a (folksy noun). But if there are some kind of bar/restaurant night shenanigans, it could all work out....
I can do New York or Philadelphia anytime, since it's only a train ride away. Anywhere else would probably not happen, but NOLA would be pretty cool.

Screw you. The date is fixed, unfortunately. I can't budge it.
There is hope, but not for us.
I'll begrudge you for besmirching my reputation.
I'll besmirch your reputation for begruding me.

The words you guys use normally are ridiculous. I was really happy the other day when I used the word "vernacular" in context.

We're loquaciously eloquent, Jane and I.
Alex- I was actually supposed to be in Ogden in a few weeks, but the finances didn't work out. :[
you honestly have the best music taste here.
The 2nd best, maybe.

lolz. I'd hella go but I doubt I'd be invited
Ooooooooooooooooooooooh what did you doooooo?

Haha. FINALLY! Someone recognizes this. ;]
The show was fucking amazing. I got to go backstage and meet Patterson Hood. Now if only I could meet Rhett Miller, my life would be complete.

I doubt I'll have the finances, but I think New Orleans is overdue as a meetup spot. If I am able to go, I cast my vote for there as well.
