We're seeing a lot of sigs that quote from the chat room. It's great that you all have a good time in there and that you want to sig something lovely or funny that someone said, but it is against our rules.
So enjoy your chats, keep the love alive, but don't post or sig anything from the chat room, please.

Sigs can only take up a specific amount of vertical space. Yours is too tall, so the bottom part is not displayed.

I get the impression the rule is there so that members have a modicum of privacy on the forum. Everything else is public, so if you want to bitch about someone to someone else, the way you would in your own house, or if you have a particular problem that can't be discussed publicly, then you have private messages to do just that. If people were allowed to post PMs, then you can bet people like Ironman would disrespect everyone and just post whatever the hell they wanted. Not that I see why you'd send sensitive information to Ironman.
If the rule were, "You can post only PMs that don't contain sensitive info", you'd have people arguing endlessly over what constitutes "sensitive" info. This way, at least, private messages STAY private.

yeah, pretty much it is taking something someone said out of context. if it's not on the forum, nobody can see the post in full, so the intent is left to conjecture. we've had instances, which forced this rule into effect. when it comes to vindication and reprisal, taking a person's comments out of context to embarrass them on the board is a very easy way to get back at someone. that is why we dont allow it.
