Someone please recomend me a great book on Lennon
I know there are a ton of them out there, but I'm looking for one that focuses on his message as an artist as well as his personal life. I'm not looking for a book about all the Beatles unless it is truly great/all-encompassing. I'm also not interested in a book that tries to form a half-baked argument attempting to expose him as a closet homosexual. I don't care if he was or wasn't - this gossip matters little to me.
Anny suggestions?
Oh Noah...
I would recommend The Lives of John Lennon by Albert Goldman. It covers his childhood and times before and after the Beatles. I discovered a different Lennon after reading this book.

The one by his ex-wife's pretty good. My boyfriend (being a Scouse) loves John Lennon and has read about 4 biographies. I'll find out which one he thought was best.
Wouldn't it be better to get as many books on him as possible to see him from as many different angles as possible?
Anyways, Backbeat is a pretty great movie, although it's really about Stu Sutcliffe, it's got a lot of early Lennon stuff to consider.

Yes, but you gotta start somewhere.
