What? Where?
This is why we can't have nice things.

Oh!
No.
That's the wallpaper from Disney's Haunted Mansion.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Ohhhhh. I really have to go to Disneyland at some point.
Yes.
This is why we can't have nice things.

I actually love this design

My sisters name is in the branches.

That tree is very very cool.
Thank you.
I love the Zapdos! Also the tree.
Are the scissors broken in your house, son?
Heart and straight-blade to celebrate my short story "If You Love Me" being published in Warmed and Bound: A Velvet Anthology, alongside Clevenger, SGJ, Davidson, Evenson and a foreword by Erickson. Yeah, pretty big deal for me. Like, HUGE. It's also my first publication in an actual book. AND my first paying gig.
This is pretty cool for a few reasons: The Velvet coined the term Velvet Noir (well, I kinda came up with it, after a discussion on W&B where Gordon Highland (flash) said we should say "It might be Noir" and then Boden Steiner said, why not just call it Velvet the genre, and then I said Velvet Noir), and the loose theme of the book is Scary Love Stories. My story is pretty fucking scary. Erickson even said it was "terrifying half a page in" and called it "a little gem, albeit with a very dark glow" (Yes, THE Steve Erickson said that about my story--weird).
The name on the handle (Suzannah) belongs to the evil broad that hands the protagonist a razor blade (sorta like a straight-blade) and says, If you love me, you'll do this. He then proceeds to prove his love for her.
The Heart is obvious. And then, the banner that has "Warmed and Bound" written on it is almost like it's binding the heart.
I'm not big on "meaningful" tattoos. You all know I love silly tattoos. Joke tattoos. Tattoos that you got just because it looks fucking sweet. But this time, this one, it's sort of different. I'm glad that it's packed with meaning. So stoked.
Anyway, photo time:

Hey, thank, 'Lecia! I kinda do, too. Most days, anyway.
what body part is that on?
I think it is your (right?) forearm? Based on your karen tat and the hair/shippy stuff from that other one.
I can identify your body parts by tattoo now. I feel creepy.
It's left forearm, but, yeah, you're a little creeper, Amber.
Wow. Congrats on the anthology, Matt. That's awesome. Cool tattoo, as well.
Get on over to my website, young'un! www.subvertfromwithinrecords.blogspot.com
hai guys. this is what I did today.

“if you want to be a bird,” you said once, “with colorful plumage and buoyant trills, you must also be ready for hollow bones."
I love it Cammie! Even though I'm not sure what it is I Love the design and the line work is excellent
Yeah, that looks very cool but what is it?

from a laying down angle. it's hard to take picture of your back.
its the phylogenetic tree of life, basically showing how we started from a common ancestor and split beautifully into our different lines of distinction. evolutionary study is kind of a passion and I thought it would make a lovely tattoo. the dot is mammals, its kind of a "you are here"
the line work was pretty painful and took a while. my artist did a wonderful job though.
“if you want to be a bird,” you said once, “with colorful plumage and buoyant trills, you must also be ready for hollow bones."
Fucking awesome. That's possibly one of the best tattoos I've ever seen.
That is just gorgeous. I am a little jealous of how great of an idea that was.
This thread should be called Show Me Your Tats!! There's some killer work on here, I want to do one my legs in House of Leaves references: measuring tapes extending certain spots, some houses, maybe a Dilial photo, Thumper, a Minotaur, maybe some artwork straight from the book (the comic strip or the envelope), some random (or perhaps not so random) dialogue, favorite quotes, a couple Pelican Poems, etc.
Anyone think of anything else? My gitl gets back from a tattoo convention in Germany (I think it's a big one, anyone know it? Any Germans here?) on the 14th, I'll get her started with a list. I'm fuckin bout it.

The former.
Same here, totally stealing it.
Cammie, I looooove your tattoo! Way cool.

Taxonomy FTW

Same here, totally stealing it.
really? I mean, I don't really care, you can find it in any science book but...really?
“if you want to be a bird,” you said once, “with colorful plumage and buoyant trills, you must also be ready for hollow bones."
I'm gonna get two of them.
shit.
actually, do it. people may think I'm cooler if I have the same tattoo as you.
“if you want to be a bird,” you said once, “with colorful plumage and buoyant trills, you must also be ready for hollow bones."
How much do you think that would cost?
Still kind of want to get this. I also want to get a tattoo of Beast from X-Men.
I probably never will though.

Dude why do you always gotta pop up out of nowhere like that? As it is you scare the shit out of me but I kinda want to keep my innards inside where they're supposed to be.
I want to get a tattoo that says "G O D I S N O W H E R E" or just "God is nowhere/God is now here" either side by side like that or one on top of the other.
So if you're keeping score, that's 3 tattoos I want to get (The one above, the "LOTSO" tattoo, and Beast from X-Men) that I'll probably never get because I don't like needles or pain and am afraid of infection.
Anybody here know anybody that got some disease from getting a tattoo?

Not personally. But I know that in the last couple of years or so there was a case of traditional samoan/pacific island tattooing where someone picked up a flesh eating bacteria from it. But it's a very rare case and not done to proper hygienic standards as in proper tattoo places. I just thought, that this is totally irrelevant to you, it was in NZ.
I knew some people that got some pretty nasty staph, but they didn't go to a clean professional, they had their work done by the tweaker with a home made gun that would do any piece for $40.
fsdghcamel your tat is very beautiful.
There is no proper way to cope, no everlasting grace.
Just a flame on a river floating away.
Still a work in progress

The guy who wrote this is a bit of an ass, but the comments (and tattoos) made me laugh.
I see what you mean... all guys with tattoos are douchebags and/or gang members and all girls with tattoos are sexy and/or whores.
But you know what, I kinda like the forgetful nun one.

When I was a little kid, I went to catechism classes at this church in a really run down neighborhood and it was pretty obvious that the teachers didn't trust us as far as they could throw us... which made sense because we were very small but, as a group, pretty horrible. When they taught us the rosary, they gave us all black and white, faded photocopies of someone's drawing of a rosary.
And they picked them up afterwards. I remember because I'd written my name on mine and I freaked out and almost cried because I thought they were going to flunk me and how the hell do you explain having to go to remedial Sunday school... they just told me to erase it.
I had a point. I don't know. Eight and half year old me would so get this.
I don't usually like foot tattoos, but that one looks pretty cool.
I have a couple gang member tattoos. One is a very Mexicany tattoo of praying hands as it hold a rosary. The other ones are three tears under my left eye for the the three people I've killed. They're in invisible ink. And you can only see them when you close your eyes.

Pffff, the old close-your-eyes-so-you-can-see-my-invisible-tattoo-trick. Not falling for it.
I used to want a foot tattoo. Like seriously and not even that long ago. It was going to be a flower and it was going to be beautiful.
Then you changed your mind?

Yes. Keep up, Frankman.
He waits for you to close your eyes, and by the time you open them, he's added another tear.
Hehe.

Popped my tattoo cherry with the lizard king.
