RE: A Letter to My Cult Musician Friends Regarding Original Music For a Motion Picture
Simply: I need your music. Send it to me.
I'm finished editing my movie and I'm plugging in temporary music until my musician friends come up with stuff to replace it, so if anyone has anything that they'd like to submit, please shoot me a PM or email me at imonfirefilm@gmail.com. I'm looking for a total of about 50 songs of most genres. The only rules are:
1: Nothing too loud and abrasive. A little loud and a little abrasive is okay.
2: It has to be a good quality recording.
3: If your song is picked to be used, you will receive a DVD copy of the movie.
Here's a rough cut of the opening title sequence, dumbed down for youtube, in case you're curious:
Thanks!
Nate: Yeah, but I'm doing something specific with them. There's a big party scene and a poker scene, and I'm having the music come from inside the movie, like we're hearing it play on the stereo off screen, so there's going to be tons of snippets of songs throughout the movie. I think 50 isn't too much of an overestimate.
Tobii: Yeah, they're photogenic and you can apply all sorts of symbolism to them.
Wow, this is a great aay to get music for a film, great market incentive.

I've worked on that Counting Crows song a little. I'll just do a quick youtube video of it and have you listen before i actually go record it
Are the scissors broken in your house, son?
Sam: I just exported a copy of the movie for you, I'll try and burn it and get the DVD in the mail tonight or tomorrow.
Giggan: Argh?
Good idea. I'll try to work on something for you.

Hm. My stuff's abrasive, but without the music...

I don't know if my acoustic stuff would be relevant, but I could try.

50 songs seems like a whole lot for a movie, even a feature length one.
