I went to a friend's birthday party and expected it to be boring, it was mildly fun, but I left early, and another friend gave me a book holder as a gift for helping her with her university application. I love it because it can also hold my kindle and I wouldn't have to always read in bed so as not to bow my head too low if I keep it on the desk.

What exactly is a book holder? I was given a lot of options when I googled it. I hope it's this one.

It should have a remote-controlled page turner, so you could read books like a slide-show while you fall asleep, and then have your computerized eyes read it on auto-pilot while you sleep.

She is typical showbiz brat, that overshadows her actual musical talent.
Plus, the other annoying thing about her is that she made her name off of acting and she is one of the worst actress ever.

Now, that song has me looking for some Julie London (old bluesy songstress).

I know they're sort of rigged, but I do enjoy watching The BAFTAs.

My brain hurts from drinking, smoking too many cigarettes while drinking, and smoking too much weed all weekend. I managed to behave myself, though, which is always something, and I wrote 19 pages today.

I'm trying to watch the last four years of UFC, but people don't upload torrents like they used to. I keep having to skip events. The striking is so much more interesting now that some fighters have incorporated hand trapping into their game, but the meta, that body of techniques and styles accepted as being effective in MMA, is evolving too slowly. There just isn't enough money in the game for a talented young athlete with potential to want to be a part of this, he's better off in other sports, and this is true not only of athletes but fighters of all walks; boxers are better off boxing, judokan are better off training for the olympics, kickboxers are better off competing for the same money, with a fuller schedule, frequenting kickboxing tournaments and not having to defend against wrestlers that want to pin them down for fifteen minutes and win a decision.

The well-rounded fighter, versed in wrestling, grappling, and kickboxing, is still not a constant. There are still fighters who don't go for takedowns when they should, because they can't, and fighters who give up on superior positions because they don't have good enough jiu jitsu. There are still fighters with bad cardio, still guys who punch but don't throw kicks. Only when the meta demands two complete fighters will the sport be at its prime and be capable of showing us new things about sweet, beautiful violence; when the takedown, and the submission to follow, is all part of the same boxing combo, when transitions take place with such fluidity that the fans won't be able, before a match, to tell you roughly (and often exactly) how it's going to go; when the fighters have unique styles of transition that can be compared, rather than always saying, "If so and so takes down so and so, he'll win; if not, he'll probably get knocked out," as is still the case of almost every fight.

Also, there are too many weight classes. Watching the flyweight class is just madness, they're too fast and small, which means they both have the power for a knockout, and they're both strong enough to throw the other one right off of them. These guys are gonna kill each other. Flyweights don't weigh enough to pin each other, the same way heavyweights, despite being able to bench press hundreds of pounds, are yet unable to lift each other, making pins impossible to escape from. Fights are seldom aesthetic at heavy or flyweight; one is like watching a fight in slow motion, the other like watching a fight sped up. And with the flyweights, it's just ridiculous watching two people fight when the ref looks like he could smash both their heads in.

Right now I'm listening to Meloncholia. The camera motion makes me puke, so I'm only listening to the movie until the scenes with the giant planet ready to collide with the Earth. I love stuff like that.

Yeah, I watched it last night. I was really impressed actually.

These are very good points. From what I've observed from my brother going to nationals college wrestling. He follows UFC and those sports.
He just started teaching at a high school. You just made me start wondering when he is going to coach. Because he still works out daily and just stopped matches last year. I'm going to share this with him. He will enjoy reading it.
