!! Did you ever make your own hoops? I'm getting into hooping again, for exercise as well as something to do at parties/events I don't have to shoot at. I've been trying to figure out the right size and tapes to get. It seems a lot more complicated than I thought.
I have a friend who makes hoops and teaches hooping, like people actually pay her to teach it. I can put you in touch with her if you want, I'm sure she wouldn't mind answering a few questions.
