Palahniuk in Portland May 23rd
So it seems like a lot of folks have not heard yet but Chuck will be in Portland on the 23rd of May. He will be reading around 4 at a writer's conference at Portland State. It is a two day even but open house will be on the 23rd and the cost is $10.
If you think you want to spend the day here is a line up of speakers.
11:00 Ursula K. Le Guin,
12:00 Deborah Hopkinson,
1:00 Shannon Wheeler,
2:00 Lilith Saintcrow,
3:00 Virginia Euwer Wolff,
4:00 Chuck Palahniuk,
I don't quite know if Chuck will be speaking about his new book but i cant imagine it not coming up.
So for all the Portlanders who felt left out, here you go. I'm trying to spread the word to the folks i know and i have a caravan of people coming with me already. It should be a good day. See you all there.
Here's a better article about the whole shindig

Damn, I was so stoked when you first posted this, then I realized my wife has a wedding show all day tomorrow! It's in Seattle(where we live) and I won't be able to make it. Poop. Tell us how it goes.

So... how was it?
The day in general was quite glorious. It was an all day thing but most folks didnt show up until right before Chuck read. It went from probably around 100 people in the whole place to around 2ooish. I caught everyone except for the first speaker and it was worth being there the whole day. I heard a lot of good advice and funny stories from the other authors. Chuck spoke for something like 45 minutes and it was golden. He explained his reasoning for the random gifts he gives out at readings and some stories about local Portland shenanigans. No Q and A though. He seemed quite burnt out after not being home since early April and he said he fucked his back falling of the stage in LA. He still did manage to signed a massive amounts of books afterward.
It did blow my mind when i was watching Shannen Wheeler speak and chuck sat down next to me.
