hey. i will cut you, bitch!

seriously, though, something to not be proud of. i voted against preventing that aim. fucking ballot was written by confucius, i swear to god that shit was written to trick the shit outta ya.

and if you ever get the chance, you should search and read the way the lottery amendment was written. after reading it three times, i was still absolutely confounded by the scroll.

odd. this southern state contains this first city to integrate public schools. not one of the northern states expressing morale with words about what's right and what's fair. no, a southern state fought to make it happen. fifty years and sometimes a great change ripples time, i would like to think this city has had quite a bit of influence in helping to shape the election of these united states during this 2008 election year. especially with some of the most old-way thinking inhibiting many of the people here. but there are so many good and fine people here, so many strong ones.

sorry about the tangent, love

symbolic-wise it's fantastic, future of the world lies in mixing the races, no more old white men in power, no more money whoring pay-offs, no more dinosaurs, and for gods fuck the guy is easy on the eyes and doesn't talk like a cartoon.
my uncle was a war pilot, he knew john mccain and he's voted republican all his life, but he told me mccain is no longer the man he knew, he voted for oboma, and he lives in fla. i like whats happening, and maybe we can get out of that creepy war, its like the country can shower off the vile stench we've been marinating in and start over.

oh also the two props we voted on were passed, medical marijuana, and stem cell research are a go in mich.

I'm overall excited that this country was able to vote for a person of color and that after 8 years of disaster, I finally have hope that some things might change for the better. It pisses me off that this country is ready for a man of color to be president, but not a woman. Barack identifies as an African American as do most people, yet he is half white and was raised "white" by his mother and grandparents. So, this country and the majority of the world still thinks if you have a drop of black blood in you, that makes you black. That's not very progressive to me.

I think this country just isn't ready for a woman and that's disheartening.

Prop 8 amends our state constitution to define marriage as being between a man and a woman. With our huge budge shortfalls and disastrous policies, and rampant crime, it's SOOOOOOOOOO important to tell people they can't get married.

Sorry, mom, but you have no kids in school so just butt the fuck out. I drove my parents to the poll and my dad demanded I pull over and let him out when he found out I voted for a black man. I didn't pull over, I told him to go negate my vote and then we could all go get free ice cream..

I am kind of disappointed with all the gay marriage bans passing, and that fucked up initiative in Arkansas, but in the end these religious zealots are fighting a losing battle...it may take 10, 20, maybe 40 years, but eventually all these bigoted policies will whither away, as will most of the bigots who support them...

50 years ago, this same mentality had everyone screaming that miscegenation would destroy the moral fabric of the country, and now we have a president who is a product of it...that's fucking poetic!

I don't think the United States is unwilling to elect a woman for the office of the presidency. I just don't think the right one has come along yet. I would've voted for Hilary over Obama in the primary if she hadn't taken such a hawkish stance on the "war on terror".

Sorry Nate, we can't get married Sad The laws of this world just can't accept our love!!

But for real, no, we can't get married, I have a penis...

Actually, a few years ago a transwoman here tried to get a marriage license and they found her out and she got arrested for fraud or some shit, I don't know...

She totally got arrested dude, thrown in the slamma and charged!

Losing the penis usually means you can marry, but only because once you get the op, most states will let you ammend your birth certificate to show your new sex...

Sadly though, several states, including Kansas, have cases on record that show that if for any reason the legality of the marriage comes into question, your previous status will be used to dissolve the marriage...

It mostly comes up in estate suits and shit when someone dies...for instance, I get the surgery, get my birth certificate changed, we get married, live all happy and wonderfully and shit, and then you die...

Now say your brother goes, "Hold the fuck on! She's not even a real girl!!" Then the court looks at it, says he's right, and your estate or whatever goes to your family, and I get doodley shit except a dead husband and my name in the papers...

It's seedy seedy shit...I think there was a case where a trans-woman sued for wrongful death of her husband, only to have the court say, uhm, no, you're really a dude so this marriage wasn't real, sorry...

Wait, who has midget arms? Obama or McCain? I never noticed that.

Also, I think it's pretty cool that a man that might have been a slave 3 generations ago can become the most powerful person in the world 3 generations later. Say what you will but we might be on to something with this democracy thing.

I don't know if that was a real consideration during the democratic primary. Maybe it was. Maybe crazy, fucked up countries would hate us more for having a woman that drives and doesn't wear a burka as Prez. Sigh.

I'm not sure how she is being forced to pay for anything in this regard? Everyone knows getting married is about the stupidest thing you can do tax wise so why not let everyone get equally screwed by the federal government if marriage is important to them?

Schools she is forced to pay for, whether she has kids in them or not. I have no idea if prop 8 had anything to do with schools or if it was just marriage, but word, as long as we have such a system (democracy) people will be oppressed by the majority, it will suck.

But it has nothing to DO with the schools at all. That's just a remote possibility that it might be taught in schools. It was propaganda that scared the pants off her.

But Garret, everyone benefits from the school system, even if they never have a child that passes through it. That's why everyone has to pay for it. Schools provide us with things like universal literacy and standards of discipline. You really want to have a dude at the drive-through who can't count change?

Whatever, Jean-Jaques Rousseau.

No, I can't justify theft in any situation. But this is a complex issue. People will be educated because parents want to educate them. You can't force a service on me, no matter how beneficial, just like I can't mow your lawn for you and tell you it looks better, now pay me.

If McDonald's wants happy customers, they'll teach ppl how to count change.

And I prob shouldn't point this out, cause again, complexity of the issue that I can't fully express, but anyways...coerced funding of education only acts as welfare for the middle class. Poorer ppl can't afford the taxes and are still stuck with em, and middle class ppl can afford, but are paying less than they would cause most of the cost is handed off to the rich.

And my sig applies again. No consent, no morality.

It's not welfare for the middle class. It's childcare for the poor. /cynicism

Coerced funding of education kind of boggles my mind. The education of a country's youth is important for it to continue functioning. Kind of like electricity.

Exactly. When the Congo became an independent nation in 1960 and attempted to modernize, they had 32 college graduates, out of a country of 10 million(ish) people. No engineers, no architects. The lack of universal education has really served them well, no?
