Obama FTW
John McCain just conceded. And Barack Obama is our 44th US president. More significantly, he as become our first black President. What do you see happening in the next 2 hours after it is made official? How about the next 4 years?

more useless social programs and unnecessary government regulation and interference.

All the major news networks are calling him the winner at 11:20 pm EST.
McCain is giving his concession speech.
There is hope, but not for us.
So do we all get to call Republicans whiners now, kinda like they have done for the past eight years?! Not that I would, I'm not an asshole, but I was just wondering if that would be an option...
not until they keep demanding recounts till the middle of december. then we can.
Are you implying that a Democratic president will do these things? Because it seems like our lame duck Republican president has been accomplishing these goals pretty competently.
There is hope, but not for us.
I wonder if theirs some skin heads ploting our presidents death right this moment.
maybe that it doesn't matter a lick who's in there. it's always the same.
I'm pleased about the win, but I'm sort of bummed about not getting to run down the street with a television.

I 50% of the time want to punch Malkin in the face and 50% of the time want to have her babies. Our relationship is really complicated.
There is hope, but not for us.
All black people will celebrate by not going to work tomorrow. it's a day that will forever be known as Wednesday.
Ha. Unfortunately we had to have extra guys working tonight in case there was a 'celebration' that consisted of breaking out shop front windows and looting.

I always thought she was batshit crazy, but when she dropped her uterus over the Rachel Ray/Dunkin Donuts ad I knew she was nothing but an opportunistic shit stirrer.
I think there's some kind of pill you can take to cure cynicism now.
There is hope, but not for us.
suuuuure there is.
He gave up sarcasm and swearing, cynicism is all he has left...
He swore today!
honestly, i think there will be assination attempts against him, which is very sad. rock da kas bama! whoo hoo!
nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
I'm surprised at how content I am with this. Wow, accepting both evils as evil really puts one's mind at ease. 2 years ago I was shutting down...the humility of enlightenment.
I spent the day hanging with Obamites and heard some amazing Nam stories, I'mma thread it later. There were literally no McPainers in the streets of Sarasota - I literally saw 1 guy for McPain.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
i still got juvenile retaliation too, poophead!
ftw indeed.
As a Ron Paul supporter (thank Gig for that!) I want the new President to do well. I want this country to move foward.
However, with the Dems taking control of the whole Govt, a watchful eye must be kept on them, because history shows with the Carter and six years of the Bush admin, one party control doesnt work. There is no balance.
I just hope Americans arent so in love that bad policy slips right under their noses....
Indeed, I believe that we will all feel the wrath very soon. Obama came to power in much the same way as Adolf Hitler. There were were major problems in Germany and he promised change. The people rallied behind him and mindlessly followed every bizarre and destructive measure which he said was necessary. He used the burning of the reichstag as a means to obtain ultimate power. Now, with the recent laws passed by the Bush administration, he has the power to do the same. Five "respectable" sources (mostly his close friends) have stated that there will be a major international crisis shortly after he takes office which will test his mettle. They say that we will have to vote in favor of laws which don't seem right, but that it's the right thing to do. Flu mist had been discovered to contain agents which make the recipient more likely to contract Bird flu. The company which manufactures the drug is closely tied to Donald Rumsfeld. If a pandemic were to be the "test" that they were talking about, you can most likely survive it by overdosing on vitamin C for at least 3 days. That is the least likely scenario. It will more likely be one of the following:
1. Someone will attepmt to kill him shortly after he takes office.
2. China and Russia will stop using the dollar which will cause a complete economic collapse.
3. A nuclear device could detonate inside a major city.
4. Some other large scale terrorist attack could take place.
Any of these things would be sufficient to declare martial law and strip Americans of their liberty forever. I'm sure that there are more, but those are just a few off the top of my head. I hope that I'm crazy and paranoid. I really do. I'm not sure if many of you know this, but anyone within 100 miles of the border has no constitutional rights. http://www.aclu.org/privacy/spying/areyoulivinginaconstitutionfreezone.h...
Obama is in favor of a one world government. He is a member of the CFR and the Bildebergers. His policies are decidedly socialist and in favor of big government. We are moving into a technocracy with military androids, microchips, etc... He is the elite golden boy. The McCain campaign fell apart from within the same way that the opposition to the elite golden boy always does. Every time I hear a crowd chant Yes we can I hear sig heil.
Never follow anyone blindly. I know you hate the Bush administration, but following a equal but opposite evil to final destruction is little more than teen angst on a large scale. I am not an idealist. The world will always be filled with evil people and stupid people who are easily duped into following them. Nevertheless, I refuse to compromise my principals. I will never vote against anyone. Al Gore stole the election from Ralph Nader. Not that it mattered since the election has been proven to have been rigged. Stop rationalizing and start thinking!
The more I learn about politics the more the sinking feeling in my stomach grows. I feel that we are doomed. There may never be enough people who are willing to make the effort for there to be a change for the better. Tonight, as I sat in the midst of a hoard of whooping, stomping imbeciles with my head in my hands as the "victory" was announced, I was reminded of the last election when I said that we deserved what we got if Bush was reelected.
I'm just pissed that 11 candidates were ignored yet again in favor of a couple of elite stooges. He have so many worthwhile parties, and yet we repeatedly vote for republicrats. Why? We know that anyone who is chosen to represent either of those parties is bought and paid for before the campaign even begins.
Okay, I'll stop ranting.

i'm still expecting there to be some huge terrorist thing to happen and bush and cheney just up and decide they can't relinquish control until it's taken care of and they just stay in power for like another 2 years for the hell of it.

I wanted to see you running down the street with a TV too! My partner woke me up to tell me the result and I mumbled, did I miss the looting?
Are you implying that a Democratic president will do these things? Because it seems like our lame duck Republican president has been accomplishing these goals pretty competently.
Yeah, I was implying Obama will do these things. I agree with your statement as well, that is why I said "more".

I kinda feel bad for, like, Chris Rock and all the other black comedians that won't be able to make any more of those "First Black President" comedy movies.
But I am glad that fred Armissen will get more gigs on SNL. I love that guy.
I bet Tina Fey is happy not to have to play Palin for the next 4 years!
I'm sure she's happy that she lost but no way is she happy about losing the face time on tv. All those guys are airtime hogs! just watch, I guarantee you she'll be on there at least two more times playing her in the next couple shows.

I think I'm beginning to understand the epic despair behind this comment. That second sentence was an amazing piece of propoganda, and sort of depressing too, like the antithesis of fact.
im glad obama won. america needs something to feel good about.
So, I just read the transcript of the Grant Park speech and I'm totally weepy. Maybe it's just cuz the ATL got so many shout outs, I dunno.
I'm gonna go march around my neighborhood with an American flag and sing patriotic songs now.
I wasn't that into this yesterday.

Those were some of my favorite highlights.
I am not an idealist.
this was my favorite part.
though, there are a few words tangled in there that are true.
If I live 100 miles away from the ocean, does that count as a border? Because if it does, I have some First Amendment suppressin' to get to!
There is hope, but not for us.
I wanted to wait up through the night and watch this but I fell asleep early and missed all of it. Dang Timezones!
It was quicker than a Tyson fight, Derek. You didn't miss any drama.
Obama is a compassionate man who cares about people regardless of their background or religious beliefs. I am happy and wish him the very best. I think it would be cool to have coffee with him someday!! Some people I know are already saying watch out for socialists taking over our government. My question to them is this....how much more socialist can it get when you have our current admininstration bailing out bankrupt banks and allowing the CEOS multi million dollar severence packages and all expense paid cruises???

really, weve been heading for socialism for a long time. people are too easily frightened. they hear a scary word and dont even realize that theyve voted for it for years under a pseudonym. its not like we were ever a democracy anyway.
Monkeywright's right, Derek. Within 10 minutes of the polls closing on the West Coast, McCain conceded. Extremely smooth transition.
I'm now excited for Bush to pardon a bunch of crazy people. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Charles Manson and Mark Whitacre.
There is hope, but not for us.
charles manson made some great tunes back in his day
Hey, what's the status on Prop 8 in California? Is the vote still being counted?
There is hope, but not for us.

Yeah, Jane it is still being counted. Also, Al Franken and the incumbent guy are still neck and neck.

More reasons to not move to Arkansas:
In Arkansas, residents approved a measure aimed at preventing gay couples from adopting children. The measure, Proposed Initiative Act 1, goes further than just barring same-sex couples from adopting; it bars any individual cohabiting outside of a valid marriage from adopting or providing foster care to minors.
