Naughty Consumerists, You
I went to the outlets to return a few things and ended up spending more money than I got back. Oops. Only by about $20 though. I realized I needed skirts because I bought leggings but I don't think any of my skirts really fit. I also got a pair of skinny jeans because they will be much easier to tuck into my boots!

I bought almost everything on my Christmas list for all the people I buy for. I got myself some damask Duck Tape today. I don't know what I'll do with it, but how could I not buy it?
Tuffy, get a Galaxy S something. I replaced my Blackberry with the Galaxy S II and I will never go back to Blackberry again. I got one for Giancarlo's birthday and man is he going to be surprised.
Yeah, that's the words I'm hearing.
I was hoping to avoid spending $600 on a telephone, but doesn't seem like I am going to be able to manage that. Anything I find for less is Like New! Refurbished No Warranty from Dave's Sell*Fone Mart and Authentic Kambodian BBQ - Free Parking Behind Massage Parlor/Colonic Clinic Next Door.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I bought two new bras from VS a wallet/smartphone case that matches my sak bag. Two baby dolls for the other two girlies for christmas and a small purse for my best friend's bday.

Haha....I got mine through my carrier because it was time for an upgrade (still paid about $200), but then I sold my Blackberry on eBay for $130 so it didn't hurt so bad.
Queso dip for the chips I have and a bottle of cheap merlot. I love merlot, and I've never bought some that I didn't like, so I thought you can't buy a bottle of too cheap merlot. Apparently, this bottle was too cheap.
Also, I got the gf the Sperry boots she wanted. And my mom loves these Sperry shoes the gf has (even wearing them for a day) so I bought my mom those shoes.
Bought my brother a shirt he wants. And my other brother just moved to Chicago (within the last couple months) and he's a terrible cook. So I bought him How to Cook Everything: The Basics. He also asked me to buy him a book about stretching (he's into working out and health like me). I have to favorite books on stretching that I pull things from for different reasons. I feel both are necessary, so I can't decide between them - Relax Into Stretch or Stretching Scientifically.
Also, bought a movie for my great-aunt (who is now considered the family matriarch since my Yiayia passed away), that I know she will love so she's done too.
I have managed to not buy myself anything yet (which is good). I usually rationalize buying myself something every time I go to the store to buy people stuff (or shop online). But this year, I keep guilt-tripping myself out of spending that money.
took advantage of cyber monday to buy a christmas tree and some decorations for the apartment.
My sister and I chipped in to buy my niece The Lord of the Rings Lego Moria set. It is awesome and I want one for myself. But why are Legos so freaking expensive?
Because they are freaking awesome! I want one of the architect sets that Lego has. I love legos and am soo fucking sad that my bucket of legos has gone M.I.A. throughout my many moves.
I'm gonna go buy crackers now. Because I need them for the dinner I am making and the kids ate them all.

I know where mine went--somehow my sister got them from my parent's house and gave them to my niece. My niece uses them and my kids are still small but I'm still bitter.

Ugh, yeah that would drive me nuts. Could be only child syndrome but I took care of my toys so I could play with them well into adult hood. Why can't anybody else understand that? haha I think it's genetic too. My grandma, aunt and uncle, my mom still have toys from when they were young and have continued to buy toys well into their 40's. My mom and her sister had a doll play date. It was supposed to be for my mom's nieces but turned out that my mom and her sister had more fun playing with their dolls and my lil cousin ended up getting bored. This might belong in the TMI thread hahaha
Izzi has a metric shitload of Legos.
I'm actually appalled by the sheer volume of bricks.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Lego's seem to be eaten by whatever it is that eats my forks around here.
My mom threw ours out. And I had a ton! Literally! (okay not literally)
Mine too - she was always so keen to give my toys away, grr. I miss my Robin Hood Lego
I still have mine, it's in my sister's room.
I wish I had more puzzles, but there's no room in the whole freaking house where to make them. Except maybe the kitchen table, but that's never empty.
I won't tell you what I've bought for my cult secret santa, but how about what I have for my Reddit secret santa?
This is my first time participating and it's fun and different because you don't know anything about your giftee and have to make some research to find out what to get them. My person isn't very active, but I've found out he likes cooking, the Green Bay Packers, is in school for software engineering, and likes building PCs.
So I have gotten him , a 16gb USB 3.0 flash drive, a pillow with a screen printed image of Zoidberg (it's a reddit thing), some Green Bay click pens, and a bunch of Christmas candy goodies. I'm also going to send him a copy of my favorite out of print cookbook and some Louisiana cooking goodies.
I just love Christmas!

That sounds lovely.
Emma reeeealllllyyyy wants a Furby. I hate them. I bought one and will rue the day. Such is the life of a mother.
I did stick to a new rule this year since I tend to go overboard.
1 thing you want, (furby)
1 thing you need, (cd player - hers broke)
1 thing to wear, (stompeez - these really dumb slippers she likes)
1 thing to read. (set of books called Franny K. Stein - about a girl scientist)
I will say this - my kid can mutha. fucking. READ. She's in the 1st grade and averages around a 3rd grade reading level, if not 3.5. We have reading parties where we'll just snuggle up and I'll read my book and she'll read hers. She's crazy and I love her......
but a goddamned furby? ughhh.
Lucy loves her Singamajigs.
i would like to know what that is .
I'll post a vid when I get a chance.
yay !
Good parenting right there.
Agreed!

Yay for reading! It just so happens that my sister has a ton of kids books from a closeout we did on a book store. I'm sure there is something on her level in there. If you send me your address I will try and send her some books for Christmas!

I bought myself a scarlet scarf today because the Christmas Fair started today. It's gorgeous and I didn't have a red one before.
I went to the mall for a gift today (St. Andrew, so my best friend invited us all for tea). I ended up buying her gift (a puzzle for us to make at the New Year's party), and tons of things for myself - tea, a t-shirt, various sweets and junk food, and expensive French pastry.
When I came home and did the maths it turned out I spent 50 bucks. But I did buy one of the 5 Christmas gifts I have to get for my girlfriends, though.
I keep seeing this as "Naughty Communists, You" and I think that would be a good book title for some political crusader to scold somebody with.
Yesterday I bought a Stockholm coffee mug for Pål Martin and a Swedish Donald Duck pocket for me.
Sounds like something Vonnegut would write.
A Donald Duck Pocket?
*makes research*
IT IS A THING!

So, I got a Westinghouse 46" LED/1080p/120Hz HDTV. It arrived last night.
It's too big for my tiny livingroom.
This is why we can't have nice things.
What did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking?
Heh. I didn't actually pay attention to the price. I just found one I liked and clicked "buy".
I'll look it up.
This is why we can't have nice things.
$494.86 including weird California "You're Buying A TV!" tax. Delivery was free.
Probably too much, but whatever.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I bought myself this shirt yesterday

and I bought this one for Gabriel, because his birthday is in a couple of days and he loved that book and all of S.E. Hintons others, too.

I like literary tshirts, but have never found one yet that I wanted.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Those two and the Between the Covers one I bought a few months ago are the first ones I have found that I had to have.
I would like to keep The Outsiders one for myself, but I can't keep buying all the things for myself when there are all these birthdays and Christmas this month. And I know Gabe will love it.
I never buy myself things, almost ever, but this time of year when I am in that "it is okay to spend money of fun pretty awesome things" mode of thinking every time I go shopping for other people it is almost torture because I am letting myself look at all the wonderful things as acceptable to purchase and I end up buying myself things I wouldn't otherwise let myself have. So lot's of Christmas presents for me from me. What'da ya do? I can't help it.
Chenoa (?) gave Melody(?) a black shirt that read

for one of the gift exchanges a year or two ago and, man, I still think about how awesome that shit was. I want one. I would rock the hell out of that.

That's a pretty good price for what you got. I think the average on that is around $600-650.

Where are you getting these sweet shirts from?
I got them at Powell's City of Books. They were marked down a bit, but the regular price is $25.
You may be able to order online, not sure.
There are other sites that sell similar items too, here is one:

I immediately thought about that shirt when I read Tuffy's post. I wish is still fit me. It was a bit small to being with and I've gained weight
I might have to get her to send me another one.

What size is it?
I'll buy it from you if it will fit me! (and is not too worn out)
That would be kinda rude actually, for you to sell me a shirt someone here gifted you.
If Chenoa knows where to get more of those I would be interested in her getting me one too and I would send her the money and shipping. Absolutely.

I wanted to buy some jumpers when I went to the mall, but found nothing I liked. Zara has some beauties, but way too expensive.
