well, till it arrives you will have started again.

i just watched this documentary (like half my sentences start that way) about tourism in Cuba, and the residents were talking about the intentional speratism of natives from tourists - like how most Cubans are paid in pesos, but nice restaurants only accept dollars.

i didn't mean anything nasty by that, i was just associating the word "Cuba" with my most recent thought about it. came out sorta mean-looking, though. completely unintentional.

in fact the dollar is not so welcome anymore, because by now there is a tax on it. so if you pay in us dollar you have to pay 10 percent to the government. there is a currancy for tourits though. it´s the peso convertible, which the natives, unless the work in the tourism industry don´t really have access to.

i didn´t take it nasty at all.

we were well aware that we were going to a poor country. they do have a rich culture though and we wanted to experience that. i don´t feel like i´m superier to them just because i´m lucky enough to be born in a wealthy society.

it was really interesting, because they interviewed a lot of people on their views of "freedom" in Cuba. a lot of the youth talked about wanting to leave, because you could do ANYTHING in other countries, and make better money etc etc, and then to hear a lot of their parents, who had moved BACK to Cuba, talking about how Cuba was actually more free than many other countries, because of the strong family and neighborhood ties - one woman that had lived in Germany for years and moved back couldn't seem to wrap her mind around calling a neighbor and making "plans" to visit, when in Cuban neighborhoods everyone was friends and you didn't have to worry if a kid wandered off - everyone looked out for each other. there were so many different interpretations of the "conditions".

here's the thing. i started the thread (err, one of them) and it is so old that i had to search page after page to come close to it and it's taking too long. (oddly enough, i thought bito or someone revived it the other day, but alas i was mistaking.) plus, with the age, i'm sure many of the bookshelf picts are no longer showing.

so it's on you to start the new bookshelves thread !!

Seriosly Yes. You see the robot craze hasnt hit Ireland yet so I asked Frank how to do it. When I visited him in Chicago we had a party and his whole family do the robot all the time, its like a Mexican wave of dancing robots. Anyways he told me its just like dancing but stiffen your joints so I did!

It was 70's night at the ballgame so he threw out the first pitch and then sung "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch. Unfortunately, he was not here to visit me.

I have continued a certain habituation every morning(6:30) for the decade. Every day.
