It's September you slackers, give us your autumn pictures!
Plum cake
Ingredients:
2 1/3 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 + 1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) soft butter + 3 tablespoons cold butter, cut into pieces
3/4 cup milk
2 large eggs
40 plums, halved
1/4 teaspoon cloves (optional)
cinnamon sugar (optional)
Preparation:
Coat a pan with cooking spray, heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt and 3/4 cup sugar. Add 1/2 cup softened butter, milk and eggs. Beat at speed 2 for 4 minutes.
Pour the batter into the pan, place the plums on top, with the cut side up, pushing them down slightly into batter.
Pour the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and cloves into 3 tablespoons cold butter and sprinkle over the plums. Bake for about 40 minutes (toothpick test).
Let the cake cool in the pan so the cake keeps moist. Sprinkle with powder or cinnamon sugar, and cut into squares. Each plum should have a square.
We have these giant beer things but they're never at places with good beer. It's always Budweiser or Stella. I like Stella enough but i want better beer towers!

I love Stella! It's one of my favorite any time beers.
Hate Budweiser though.
Once walked into a bar I was DJing and said to the owner, "Give me something cold and pretentious." He turned around without saying anything and grabbed me a Stella.
This is why we can't have nice things.
But it's delicious!
I've never been a huge beer drinker. But this party store by my apartment has the most amazing beer section I've ever seen in a party store. It also has a build your own six pack section. A lot of local stuff, and a lot of other stuff.
How would one go about randomly picking beers?
I am by no means a beer connoisseur (or drinker, or lover), but I was under the impression that Stella is actually a good beer. Not the best, for that we have Leffe, Peroni, Pilsner...
Maybe he heard, "Cold and delicious."

If you like Stella, i'd stick with Belgian beers or a pilsner or something. I love the build your own six pack things, we even used to cram 16oz bottles in them and the cashiers never noticed. The carrying case would even rip sometimes.
One time we used the self-checkout thing with 16oz bottles in the 12oz bottle holder and the weight was off and it said "see cashier" but the cashier-monitor guy didn't notice or care, he just bypassed the warning.
Thanks for the answer. I bumped the beer thread so as not to derail this one anymore.
Stella is certainly drinkable if unremarkable. Likewise Peroni.

I just don't like anything fizzy. Give me the best beer and I'll still pass. But yeah, Peroni tastes better. My dad is a fan of unfiltered beer, though.

I dyed my hair for the first time (other than the ombre on my tips)

Fantastic!
Stella has a reputation for being the chav's beer in the UK... I still drink it though.
picture quality sucks but this is the flavor of the month: bulleit bourbon.

Fantastic!
I love your hair Cammie.
Such a nice color! Warm.
thank you! it is warm, but it actually isn't red in person. it's like a honey color.
I'm so happy everyone likes it. I was SO NERVOUS cause I'd never dyed my hair (except for my ombre)

Really like the light tips.
I keep seeing ombre and thinking hombre instead and it makes me chukle.
Nice hair, Cammie. I'm scared to use any chemicals on my hair, so I stick with my natural color.
How did you get it lightened? My hair is so dark naturally that a stylist told me that to get it lighter, I'd have to lift the color out (as in, bleach), then dye the shade I wanted on top of that. That would fry my hair, so no way. Plus, I think I'd look weird with anything but this dark brown I've got going on. But anyway, how do you accomplish that?

go to an aveda salon. my hair, with the exception of the couple of strands in the front of my hair that are really light blonde, were not bleached. aveda has a one-process color system that lightens and colors your hair at the same time. it lifts and then it colors, it was really impressive.
she literally just painted the color on and then 45 minutes later, that's what it looked like.
I know the dark hair thing, I mean, we dyed my natural hair color and I've always had really dark hair. I was worried about damage too, but my hair had no damage at all. this is newish stuff though. THE FUTURE OF HAIR CARE

If hair dye and bleah damaged hair I would have been bald years and years ago.

I wore white the other night (I rarely ever wear white) and ended up spilling beer on the shirt twice. Oh well, still got me some and got to cuddle. Haha

Apparently crossing a bra in the back enhances cleavage. Interesting...

I'm going to have to look up plum cake recipes. they both look really interesting and yummy.
I also think I am going to suggest my friend take a bunch of the plums down to the food pantry and donate them. I know they accept donations from peoples gardens and fruit trees.
