I hadn't mentioned it on purpose hoping it would be forgotten, but I first received Jazmyn's package of pure awesome (sorry I haven't posted those pictures yet, btw)

Then today I received (yesterday? I haven't gone to bed yet, it is an hour and a half past midnight) the most touching letter I have received in years from Irina... I have read it over three times already sweetheart, thank you.

And also Imke sent me links to wonderful music today, though I don't think she knew it was the day before my birthday.

So my hopes of the shadows were dashed by all of you beautiful women and I love you all so much for it.

Yes I received it today, or like I said... it is past midnight, so I received it on the sixteenth.

The day before my birthday is always so much more to me than the day of... the anniversary of the last day I did not exist on this earth as an independent sentient creature... the day of is for jubilence, the day before for reflection. I am glad I received it on the sixteenth.

By the way, everyone... Irina put BEAR stamps on my letter.

We are going to OMSI tomorrow as a family to celebrate.

It's a Portland Cake!

I believe that is meant to be the St. Johns bridge at the top, next is the Fremont bridge, next the Steel bridge and then The Hawthorne bridge. I think.

We actually have about a dozen more major bridges as the Willamette River runs right through the heart of the city and the Columbia River borders the north of the city (where all the freight liners come in from crossing the pacific, hence Port-Land). There is also the Clackamas River and Tualitin Rivier, among others.

Thank you Chris. The weekend overall has been a bit of a flop, every plan fell through including OMSI for today, but we are going to OMSI next weekend instead and smoking a bacon wrapped beef roast all day today instead. I am going up to the liquor store to get kahluha and vodka for me and my friend (her birthday was this week too).

James brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and fancy chocolate bars and a spicy Mayan chocolate birthday cake with chili peppers on it!

And I have birthday presents to open from my mom.

Boozy Birthday Cake Shots
Yield: 1 shot (easily multiplied)

Ingredients

1 ounce (30 ml) cake-flavoured vodka (e.g. Pinnacle or Three Olives)
1 teaspoon (5 g) dry white cake mix
1/2 ounce (15 ml) chocolate liqueur
1/2 ounce (15 ml) half & half (10.5-18% fat cream)
whipped cream (for topping)
sprinkles (for topping)
Instructions

Shake all ingredients in a martini shaker with ice and strain into sprinkle-rimmed (optional) shooter or shot glass and top with whipped cream and more sprinkles.

I like the whipped cream flavored better than the cake. The cake is too sweet. Pinnacle makes the whipped cream and I think Three Olives makes cake. At least those are the ones I've had.

Sorry for not replying Jessface, I got caught up in all that complicated maths the past two days. I think I finally sorted the sum out and, um, I'm humbled.

The bear stamps. I have to say, I was feeling the love over that. We re all Okay. Irina knows bears are my favoritest ever, and so it was a very sweet and brave thing for her to put those on there.

I was more excited about finding that photo of California poppies than the bears. Funny enough, some of the pills I'm taking for my UTI contain the plant on the bear stamps.

California golden poppies are my most favorite flower ever.

When I was very little my grandma told me it was illegal to pick them as they were the state flower (do not know if actually true) And I fell in love with them for it. The idea that they were something so wild and beautiful and untouchable. Free.

I know! I was so excited and couldn't wait till you got the letter.
