In which I rant about the Oscars
Best Makeup: Oscar goes to Rick Baker and Dave Elsey for "The Wolfman"
Haaa... Ahahaha. What?! That's so ridiculous, I don't even.
EDIT_
I love that Christian Bale won the oscar for best supporting actor!
Worst supporting facial hair(Because it's a different color than the rest of his hair. Not very supportive.).

^how I feel about the nominees this year
I will not be making an oscar thread this year because I don't care about any of the movies. this wasn't that great of a year for film.

“if you want to be a bird,” you said once, “with colorful plumage and buoyant trills, you must also be ready for hollow bones."
^agree
Jonah Hill, Oscar Nominee.

The only best picture nominee I had any desire to see was Hugo and I gloriously failed at seeing that.
And I can't believe that Tin Tin didn't get on the animated feature film list. Fookin' rip.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I just want to see The Iron Lady and I'm pissed Keira didn't get nominated.
I want to see Hugo, Moneyball, The Artist and Albert Nobbs.

-LaJessica
The Artist still looks gimmicky to me.

And I can't believe that Tin Tin didn't get on the animated feature film list. Fookin' rip.
Tin Tin was great. It stayed true to the spirit of the original animated series and the graphics were amazing along with the scene transitions. Yeah I geeked out watching it.
I also really want to watch The Artist and Hugo.
Jean Dujardin !

I don't know anything about The Artist. Is it entirely silent?
This is why we can't have nice things.
Yeah, apparently a lot of people were complaining because they didn't realize that and they wanted their money back.
That's really stupid. People need to make at least a lil research before they buy tickets to a movie.
Albert Brooks should have gotten a nomination for Drive. I don't really like him and i've never seen him in a role like that but he nailed it.
On the upside, Bret McKenzie got nominated for his Muppets song, and since there are only 2 songs in the category he has a 50% chance of winning.

pretty much, until right near the end. it's about two actors (one on the way up and one on the way down) in silent movies and the development into talking pictures so, I'm sure you can guess at what happens.
I guess I'm the only one who saw Hugo. I thought it was alright, and apparently everyone else loved it more than I did. In terms of movies about movie nostalgia, I enjoyed Cinema Paradiso more.
I think most theatres will honor a refund if you don't like the film, but you must inquire about it before x-amount of the film is over.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
what is Hugo actually about?
Buncha eyecandy, really.
This is why we can't have nice things.
so has Scorcese finally lost the plot? He got his Lifetime Achievement award now he's like 'Fuck it'
I'm pretty sure I saw Jon Stewart interview him a while back. Scorcese said his daughter asked him to make a movie she could actually watch. I think she picked out the book and everything.
Must be nice to have a world renowned directer as a dad.
Well that's cute I guess, only an asshole would fault him for that.
Maybe he wanted to branch out, too. I mean he's also made documentaries for years, why not a children's film?
I found it but the video player is shit.

Mostly I'm only linking it for the moment 7 minutes in when he says about his daughter... "She was excited when that Shutter Island opened, of course she couldn't see any of that."
thanks Jess!

I'm happy The King's Speech and Natalie won, so I really didn't mind about the others. Though I was pleasantly surprised with Alice In Wonderland's prizes.
