How do you sleep?
Well besides sleeping, how do you like to maintain the indoor environment (temperature, humidity, lighting, etc..) during the seasons? Whats your favorite type of weather? Any other aspects of the environment that just gets your juices flowing?
As for myself, I like the extremes. If it is going to be cold, I want it to be really cold. The temperature range of 40-75 really annoys me, especially when its ambiguous and I don't know what to wear. During the winter I like to keep the windows open at all times. It keeps me from being sick and keeps my respiratory system snot-free. A hot and stagnant indoor enviroment just says to viruses and bacteria "hey come in here and breed all you want." Sometimes people I live with get annoyed because they want to live in a hot a stagnant house/apartment. But I am stubborn and I tell them to wear a sweatshirt if they are cold. I like a bright room most of the time; this halogen lamp on my desk really makes the room great.
In terms of precip., i really enjoy snow (i'm a skier). I do hate cloudy/misty days. If it is going to rain, I want it to rain hard. Thunderstorms are fun (to a point).
My favorite season is winter
Winter, i love cold weather and snow. I am probably going to end up going to college in Chicago so i will be happy there.
i hate cold weather............fall is the best, it's in-between weather, i love it........and the trees are pretty............
"I close my eyes and the world drops dead/(I think I made you up inside my head)."--Sylvia Plath
As I get older, it depends on where I am, but as a general rule very cold. Right now I'm on the west coast and farther north than I've ever lived and I like it so cold outside that it hurts. Preferably hip deep in snow too.
BUT I was born and raised in Toronto, where I lived until about 3yrs ago. Now, in Toronto I prefer the fall season.
Go figure.

I just LOVE the smell of winter....its so....FRESH and CLEAN. And, as you said, it clears you up and makes your nose and sinuses and lungs feel good (that is unless you run in really cold weather, in which, it sucks).
Summer smells like sweat, from beginning to end.
i like to sleep naked
Though I'm pretty damn low-maintenance for the most part, once I decide it's time to hit the hay, I become the princess from "The Princess and The Pea"
I can not stand any lights on or coming through the window (the doubled-up velvet curtains are practical as well as stylish! Heh.). I have been known to go so far as to place electrical tape over all the little red lights (on vcr, stereo, etc) that stay on even when the device is turned off. If I've got a phone in my room, the ringer MUST be turned off, or the phone must be unplugged.
It's got to be really quiet as well. People who insist on playing the tv / stereo as they sleep are the bane of my dating existance. Only if I am so tired i can not hold my head up can I deal with either one of these. I've been known to get woken up by the vcr when it turned on to timer record something.
This is all because i am one of the lightest sleepers you will ever find. (This is why i also never date people who snore or talk in their sleep.) Kind of irritating, really. Sleep is too damn hard to come by for me, it seems. (Hence, I'm always posting here all night long!)
All the doors must be closed, though I do like to have the windows open if it's not too loud outside.
i sleep with five pillows, one of which must always be in a flannel pillowcase. During cool weather, I have two sheets on the bed, one flannel, and three comforters. In warmer weather the flannel sheet is removed along with one of the comforters. Two of the pillows are stacked on top of each other, with two others on each side lengthwise, forming kind of a U shape. The flannel one is kind of thrown on top of the whole pile.
I always start out wearing socks, but kick them off about five-ten minutes after climbing under the covers. I take turns lying on either side, holding the flannel pillow between arm and head as I move to and fro, always keeping the blankets tucked under my chin, or at least above my shoulders.
I can adapt when i visit people... to an extent. I won't sleep as well, or as much (which usually isn't a lot to begin with) but i won't be up all night, either. The only thing I take care of is that I always at least bring my own (flannel) pillowcase. Dying my hair as often and as uh, "colorfully" as I do, the dye tends to get all over, and I think it's only polite to ensure the hosts' bed does not look like the scene of a crime.
This is really the only thing I'm high-maintenance about, though. unless you count my debatably wacky eating habits, but that's a whole other beast.
debacle is a verb
All my weather is wet, and when its not, its wonderful, just on rarity value... that is Ireland, in a sentence... but of course that doesn't fully explain Ireland, nothing can fully explain anything.

Do you live in Ireland?
I love cold, but my favorite is between 50 and 70 degrees, that way I can open the windows and listen to the wind (and everyone else who lives here, but hey I can block them out). This entire winter we haven't had the heater on once. It's bad in summer though because I HATE being hot. Ick.
It has to be cold for me to sleep, and I have to fold my pillow as many times as I can (which is probably why my neck always hurts) to get comfortable. I have to listen to music going to sleep because my boyfriend likes it, but i've adapted. One thing I haven't adapted to yet is Lowki (my cat) waking up at 6am and making noise with anything that makes noise in the bedroom to wake us up. He knocks everything off the dressers, digs out my magazines off a low shelf (so retarded). Every morning at exactly 6...until someone finally gets up...then he goes to sleep.
i love it cold, and i hate it hot... but why the hell am i living in houston texas then? only god knows. anyway, regardless of the weather when i go to sleep at night i must have at least 2 fans going full blast at all times. i have a super-duper-huge-uber-fast ceiling fan and a huge box-fan that nearly blows me out of the bed... without them i wake up 10 times a night and am always squirming and hot, with them i sleep like a freaking baby... and i must have at least 3 pillows when i sleep, in that aspect i guess i'm kind of a bitch. how sad.
i'm an insomniac so i don't mind staying up all night and sleeping all day, too bad i have to be at work at 7am and i usually go to bed at 3 am. so i just use the weekends to catch up on my sleep... party all night, sleep the entire day.
Summer...right now any enviroments...main thing is sleep...
"i love it cold, and i hate it hot... but why the hell am i living in houston texas then?"
Heh, same here.
Winter is definitely my favorite season. I love cold, dreary days where it's all overcast and everything is just grey and drizzly. Best days ever. Especially when you can smell the rain in the air.
And to all of you bitching about the heat in places like fucking Indiana. Man... fuck you. Texas sucks. =\
Sleeping? I'm an incredibly heavy sleeper, once I ever manage to fall asleep. It's impossible for me to fall asleep quicker than an hour, and that's if I'm lucky. I think the longest I've ever laid in bed trying to fall asleep was about 7 hours, finally gave up and just stayed up all night. Hell, that happened tonight, but I only tried for about 3 hours before giving up this time. I'll probably crash sometime around noon, though.
I don't like fans when I sleep. Don't sleep with TV or anything on. Like it cold, can't sleep when I'm fucking sweating. Not really picky about sleeping, it just takes me forever to fall asleep.... It's torture.
I generally sleep in the buff, with a quilt over myself and the air conditioner blasting, as cold as it can get. I absolutely love the feeling of the cold air and hot insulation from the blanket, all at once, as well as the freedom of having my nutsack hanging free.
(P.S., I also sleep with my door locked.)
i sleep naked too, but only in the summer
A roommate of mine used to like to tell this story. I'll try to tell it with his voice.
"Ok, I move in with Jack, right? Now keep in mind I'm from California; I like it warm. Jack, though, demands that the room be as close to sub-zero as possible while he sleeps. He cranks the AC all the way over to 'fuckin' cold as hell' and turns the fan on as well so it blows over his bed. Since he can't stand any light while he sleeps, he takes the corner of the curtains (our room was like a motel room) and closes it in the door to keep out the hall light. I figure no big deal, I got a lot of blankets.
"So one night I wake up in the middle of the night, and like always, it's cold. Jack's over there sleeping in nothing but a sheet and an ancient Mickey Mouse blanket that has holes in it and barely covers his legs. Well, I notice my right foot has fallen out from under the covers, and it's curled back upon itself like it was trying to either conserve heat or crawl back under the covers. The rest of me was so cold I was shivering. The only thing that kept me alive was the small sliver of light coming through the peephole on the door."
He exaggerates a little (and always tells the story better), but it's pretty much true. I prefer it cold when I sleep, and I can't sleep if there's any noise or light that I can prevent.
I prefer mild weather to either extremes, but I'd rather shiver than sweat. Dusk and dawn are my favorite times of the day, but overall, I'm a night person. The smell of rain, the smell of leaves or grass... those are my things, I guess.
Cold. No warmer han 65 F. Srange how many people here enjoy the cold... Just wondering, are those who like cold also clinically depressed? I've noticed hat a lo of cold liking people tend o have issues of depression...
~Suggestions are like the ripcords on parachutes.
Boxers and shirt if I feel like wearing clothes, stomach down, taking up as much space as possible, hugging a pillow.
i respect your honesty, but i detest what you're being honest about.
I don't consider myself a depressive type of person. Though I've been down there a couple times, I think I tend to hover a bit over it for the most part, rising above more often than falling below.
I think people that just want to be happy and blissfuly ignorant (take retirees, for example) tend more towards the warmer climates. Cooler environments seem more to foster introspection and thought in general. A generalization, but from what I've seen of the people here, somewhat true (half-handed compliment to all).

heh. it still gets hot here, plus I can't stand anything over 75 degrees anyway.
It get so freakin humid. Ick. Which reminds, me, it's up to like 50 right now, gotta go open the windows!! Spring = the time to get spied on by neighbors walking past the window. And they don't do it inconspicuously at all. (I think that's the right word, ohwell).
i really really dislike going to sleep when it's not dark outside. in summer the sun rises very early as you know and when i go to bed a few hours after midnight it's all over - birds chirpy-chirping and the sky all lit up by the newly risen sun. give me darkness. flash. but then again i don't like getting up when it's still dark outside. like in winter when i go to school in complete darkness early in the morning.
as for weather preferences, i love it when it's freezing. no-one bothers you then. in the streets people are too busy keeping heat inside their clothes. winter.
natural extremes are overwhealming, e.g. thunder storms pushed to the limits. you feel so petty and small when it comes to times like these. like you can't escape it, it's everywhere. nature shows it's real power, so great that it's hard to comprehend. you feel small and helpless like a bug. and you panic since there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. i'd really like to see a huge twister. i'd get extatic, probably. but it ain't gonna happen where i live.
natural extremes are horrifying and beautiful at the same time.
After years of cynicism and sarcasm, it truly is time for romanticism to reoccur, kids.
"it still gets hot here, plus I can't stand anything over 75 degrees anyway."
Pfft. 100+ summers are hell. Once april-ish comes around it never goes below 90 until september. Or something like that, I don't really keep up with the temperature. I just know it's too god damn hot.
"It get so freakin humid. Ick"
Same here, that's why it's even worse. I can stand the heat in places like Arizona where it's nice and dry. The heat there is almost pleasant. But here, with the humidity AND heat... It's fucking awful. The only place I've been to that's worse is Florida. Christ. That state sucks.
cold, and i have a very specific sleeping position--on my stomach with my left hand above my head, elbow at a 90 degree angle, right arm at same angle with right hand in the hollow of my right hip, underneath me, left knee bent parallel with the arm, head turned to the left. don't ask me why it has to be this precise.

Wow. This little thread got CRAZY. People telling me to abuse my girlfriend, people showing an alarming lack of respect for women as a whole, people questioning my masculinity in some kind of bizarre machoistic pissing-contest. Hell, I even got called stuffy.
I'm one of the many who love to freeze their ass off at night. Something about have the room at arctic circle temps and then burying myself under a huge mound of blankets. Glooooooorious.

No real issues with depression, but I've always been kind of a dark-minded kid. Optimistic and happy, mind you, but dark. Sounds contradictory, but that's just how my mind works.

I foudn what for now is my "dream home" in the film The War Zone. Although it was a disturbing film the setting was perfect. An old farmhouse close to the ocean, only a moderate drive to a big city(london), green everywhere, and it was always raining.
I sleep on my side, curled up like a ikkle baby. I can never get to sleep on a soft mattress or with a duvet over me. As for weather, storms rule, especially when you're looking out at them. I also love being outside at night when there's basically a complete and utter lack of (distinctive) weather. The utter stillness is amazing.
Bah.

I will never go to Texas....maybe in winter.
I may go to florida in august (god, that seems like an idiotic month to go) but my mom's boss has a condo he lets his secretaries use one week a year...and there are only certain times we can go.
all I wanna do is go to sea world.
it's 70 today, and i was hot.
I love storms. I don't like rain, just because I don't like getting wet, but if it's really pouring and thundering and all that, yay!
A couple nights ago i woke up at like 4 from thunder. The first storm of the season woo! and it scared me to death, because it's like I forgot what it sounds like. Plus I'm all weird and crazy from being asleep. I thought something was blowing up. After a minute or two it was fun though.
I have to put my hair in a ponytail, and I'm a guy.
I gotta get dreads soon.
If God takes life, he's an indian giver.

Fall. I want eternal changing of leaves. Winter is too dry and summer is abosolute torture with the heat. I live in cleveland but wear shorts year round. I prefer cold over hot. Perfect place for to live would Ireland or England and thats where im moving as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
