Hooray of the Day!
Really? He seemed determined.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
YES! There was only one banana left at work, and I GOT IT! Go me.
Regardless of feeling like crap I made it to the gym again today. I didn't do as much as yesterday but I'm proud of myself for going even though I didn't feel like it.
Also I received a nice letter from my friend who is in prison. Put my mind at ease about my current stresses of life and love. I'm really glad that his mom messaged me him with his address two years ago. It's been nice to keep in touch with him and I'm glad he is hanging in there. I really wish I could figure out how to send him books though.
I'm feeling flutters in my tummy!
Baby is playing!

What did he do to be in prison?
I guess the hooray of the day is that even though I'm ill at least I get to stay home and be ill. TV, reading, sleep.
My hooray is that I have a new debit card with the same PIN code. It took me months to remember it the first time around.
Hooray, I ate carrot cake!
I had 2 pieces though, that might've been somewhat unnecessary... Ahem.
Ooh carrot cake!
Working from home today and enjoying the freedom of working in bed...And watching a few cat videos. Swim then lunch.
It was so good. Almost kind of intimidating, since I'm going to make it for the first time next week for Pål Martin's birthday. Eek!
Working from home must be nice now and then!
Ah, have you found him a present yet?
Yes, it's great. I like the peace and quiet... and I run out of smart, clean clothes by Friday!
Nope, haha. I'm going to a shopping center tomorrow. I might buy him a nice shirt/vest and a tie or something, depends on what I find.
Do you get just as much work done, or is it harder to motivate yourself?
If I'm writing articles, it's much easier! I also like to read what I've written aloud, and you can't really do that in the office without pissing people off or getting funny looks.
What's Pål Martin do for a living, Imke?

Oh, you write articles? Neat!
He works at a big warehouse (wholesale), basically receiving, sorting and registering goods. It's physical labor + some PC work.

Killing someone while drunk driving. He goes to court in February to find out his final judgement.
Oh god, that is awful.
Yeah. I've posted about it here when it first happened. Anyway, hooray I got to do my hair and make up today. It's a lil perk to make me feel better that it's shark week.

He sounds like a real, quality man. I have a small crush on him. It's really good that you have him.
That sounds way weirder than I mean it to, but I don't care.
It's my shark week too!
I'm sorry about your friend. These things are so horrible. I missed your original post I think. Don't know what to say =/
I went back to bed when Lucy was due for a nap and she and I slept for an hour and a half! I needed that.
Bloke cleaned up cat puke and made yummy chicken tacos for lunch, he has redeemed himself.
He must not be a bad person if you are willing to stay in contact with him. Just someone who made a very tragic mistake.
Years ago I was distracting myself with this guy that had to check in to the jail everyday while he waited for trial, I thought it was just for something petty since he was out on his own recognizance instead of locked up awaiting things.
After I stopped seeing him I found out from several other people that his sister and a child had died in a crash in which he was the drunk driver. He never told me that was why, and since it was a fling I didn't want to get involved over I never asked.
I felt all freaked out once I found that knowledge out.
Someone I used to be close to years ago and then lost touch with is now incarcerated under California Penal Code 288a, which is lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor child under 14, specifically related to oral copulation. I was shocked when I found out awhile back, and I hope he burns in hell. There's no rehabilitation for something like that. The idea that "you think you know someone" is an understatement.
But my hooray of the day is that the soup was really good.
Oh god. hearing shit like that just freaks me out. And someone you knew well.
James has always had this rule he won't bend about people we don't know staying over. They don't get to at all. More than once a family member or girlfriend of mine from out of town has come to visit and brought a boyfriend we don't know along and he is just like "sorry dude, you can't sleep on my couch. I have children and you will not be between my room and theirs." More than once visitors have slept in their car, as rude as that is, because he didn't know them.
No, I have similar rules.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I've never opposed him about it.
I meant as rude as people seem to think it is, he does not care.
That is good to know.
It is really shocking how often one can find out they have connections to complete creeps.
Some years ago, back when myspace was still all big, one morning James' little 11 year old cousin said hello to him in chat (she lived on the east coast) he says hello back and asks her how she is and her response is that her stepdad has been molesting her for years. Just blunt. That was a difficult morning.
She told one of her little girlfriends who convinced her to speak up and once she did she told pretty much everybody.
Asshole is in prison still.
We have the same rules. Only my grandparents, aunt and uncle have slept here, and it's sex-based. Uncle and grandpa in my brother's room, aunt and grandma in my sister's.
But.... You know them. And (presumably) they're married. Why segregate them?
This is why we can't have nice things.
Oh no, nobody drops by in two here. And they're not married, dad's brother and mum's sister. This is an apartment, we can't put up two people at the same time.
It would be very weird if your dads brother and your moms sister were married.
I like how you guys think that family is okay to allow to sleep over. Usually it's those that are closest to you that you might not know that has the problem. I could look up statistics but most of those sexual/child abuse are caused by someone in the family.....
Fuck, what happened?! This is the hooray thread for Chrissake!
My hooray is that I survived work without snapping at someone.
I know those things Jaz.
A friend of the family of my best friend put his hands on me at a young age, prepubescent. Thanksgiving was the first time. My sister too.
When it finally came out in the open, we were told "not to ruin a mans life over one drunk night".
*One* drunk night. HA.
It has never been family in my case, luckily. But when I was a kid I wasn't allowed to go to my friends' houses if they had older (teenage) brothers. You never know.
It's not rude to not want someone you don't know sleep in your house. It's rude for the other person not to talk about it with you beforehand. And upon finding out that they are not welcome to stay over, it's rude for them to not come up with alternate plans.
Back at home with the husband.
Hooray.
Worked out, went shopping, bought groceries, cleaned the apartment, yay for productivity!
EDIT_

I agree!
Mum made me translate her some of the cupcake recipes in a booklet in the Burda magazine. That's a German style magazine. The cool part is that I understood most of it, even the verbs, which I wouldn't have imagined. Last I used German was in 2010 to ask for directions in Berlin, and before that in 2005, when I stopped studying it in school.
People in Europe are so smart! I think if USA had different languages commonly used in each state, we would have sharper minds. It would be for the best. Bet people that live on the borders of Canada and Mexico have higher IQ scores.
Bought pens for the pen exchange today
I don't let relatives sleep over, period.
Not that they ask. But they can't.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I slept pretty much all the way through the night!
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."

I cleaned my computer (vacuumed it, even) and finally watched One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
I'd been dying for M&Ms for some reason since Tuesday and finally got some while at Target today. Also, Atlanta in three days! Woo!
Get pretzel M and Ms. They are so addictive.
I had my car's clutch replaced. Over the last few months it had been losing horsepower and last week it struggled to reach 50 MPH. It happened so slowly though that I didn't really think it was weird until going uphill made me go backwards.
I don't know how clutches works but my car was like eleven years old when I bought it and sluggish. Now it's like... I lightly step on the gas and it jumps forward like a fucking race horse. I have to relearn how to drive without killing it because it's so much more sensitive than what I'm used to.
It's awesome though. Like getting a band new car for a fraction of the price. Or giving it testosterone shots.
A 3rd grader at work was boogieing( spell check actually worked on boogie with a gerund) down to Barry White "You're my Everything" on purpose. He actually looked it up on Just Dance 4 on the Wii.
His mom smiled and quipped, "...oh yeah, he does that at home too..."
That kid is going places, one day!
Sorry double post, didn't think the first one worked.

The Nostalgia Critic is coming back with new episodes. That decision to end it lasted long....
