Hooray of the Day!
Please be discreet
Hooray!
You're gonna have a kid? Hooray!
I was gonna wait til after the new year to tell everybody but i trust you guys won't say anything on Facebook yet. I'm not really that scared, i'm happy about it. I'm more worried about the baby now that it's so tiny but i'm not worried about after it's born, i'm pretty confident about it.
We're employing the services of a midwife for many reasons, especially since a hospital birth can cost anywhere from $12,000 to $25,000 whereas a midwife is generally in the $3,000 range. That and hospitals always want to push c-sections on you and they're generally a big mess. I've always been untrusting of hospitals and i'm glad i'm with a girl who agrees with me.
The baby's due August 17th.
Another Leo! Congrats.
Waaaaaaaahhhh!!! Cool.
Congratulations BigS!!! That's awesome. You're so right about the hospital pushing for c-sections. Thar's exactly what happened to me.
You're gonna make a great dad. Be super nice to your woman and get her anything she craves.
YAY BABIES!
Ohhh!
So many congratulations!
Successful homebirth is so fulfilling too. I am happy to hear you guys are choosing to seek that path out for your birth. There was apoint where my goal was to be a homebirth midwife, but when I was all finished having babies I realised I was less interested in it as a continued lifestyle. Gabriel and Liliauna were both born at home. (the other two in birthing centers) Liliauna was a (accidental) water birth (I only meant to have the pool for relaxing in not for actual birthing as that idea frightened me) After experiencing water birth I highly highly recommend it, or at least having a pool for relaxing if you are both shy of the idea of actually birthing in the pool.
I'd say the main thing with home birth is really really educating yourself on the birthing process and preparing mentally and emotionally for for the intensity of it. As well as being open to knowing it is okay if plans must be changed for health reasons.
There are a few really good books I recommend, for preparing and educating ones self.
Spiritual Midwifrey by Ina Mae Gaskin, Special Delivery by Rahima Baldwin, and A Midwifes Story by Sheryl Feldman and Penny Armstrong.
I hope you don't mind my advice.
No, i want advice. The only person i know who's used a midwife is this fundamental Pentecostal guy and i don't really want to hear it from him because she and i aren't married and we don't plan on getting married for a while unless it benefits the baby somehow.
I have a really nice list of daily birth affirmations, for keeping positive and unafraid, for mama and dad that my last midwife gave me. For James and me it really helped to have it tacked in the kitchen where we could see it through the pregnancy.
I sent it to Sarah when she was having Lucy.
Would you like me to PM it to you?
I read a book by Ina Mae and it was great. Good birthing stories.

Yes please
Wow congratulations! I guessed right away too, hahah.
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!
You're gonna be an awesome dad, dude. I'm really happy for you.
I had both of mine in the hospital (no C-Sections, though), so that's the only experience I have, and I didn't have any problems & just paid a copay based on my insurance coverage (which is changing a lot with the new legislation...my last baby was born over 11 years ago, so yeah...different probably). But anyway, I think women who can go through home delivery are amazing SUPER WOMEN who're incredibly brave and doing things the way nature intended.
Now just be nice and be sweet to her, especially if she's crying or mad or both at the same time because that kind of thing is just part of it.
Yeah and she will be wanting to eat and puke at the same time. Seriously.
I guess this is my buzzkill of the day/next few weeks!
WHooow. Babies. Everyone I know is having kids!

She doesn't have insurance, which is another reason for a homebirth. We were going to add her to mine but it would take too long to go into effect. I'm not sure how the new healthcare thing would affect it either. We figure if poor and stupid rednecks can have all these kids, we can have one kid and be just fine. Also, no offense to those of you who have boys, yours all seem cool and well-behaved, but i want a girl. Plus, if we have a girl, i get to name her. Haley already has a name picked out for a boy.
Congratulations Steven!

Girls rule.

I love that Stephen wants a baby girl, so cute!
You're going to have a daddy's girl!
That is actually really awesome that he wants a daughter.
Daughters need fathers that want them and cherish them.
The UK ambassador and the staff of a 5-star hotel in Bucharest brought a lot of food to the homeless people living in one of our railway stations. Apparently one of their stewards was homeless for 20 years before, and his story impressed everyone else at the hotel.

I just got a really lovely Christmas card from Amber!
That pizza I was gonna order? There's a special offer and we got an extra one for free. So now I have a whole pizza for myself (I was gonna share it with my brother).
I love Henry so much today! That's all. Not Sheldon as much because he has bitten and scrammed me too much. But Henry has been sooooo adorable.
Best friends birthday tonight.
Maybe a hangout with a girl tomorrow
Crafting on sunday.

Beyond the Hills by the Romanian director who won the Palme d'Or in 2007 is on the short list for the Oscars - Best Foreign Language Movie!
Going out to dinner with Pal Martin tonight, and after that we're gonna be hanging out around the Glass House in the city center.
GLASS HOUSE
In the week of 18 December - 24 December 2012 three DJs will lock themselves up in the Glass House on the Oude Markt in Enschede without eating anything on these days and producing live radio 24 hours a day. This way they want to call attention to the littlest ones: millions of babies need help in order to stay alive. It involves a silent disaster claiming 5.5 million victims worldwide each year as a result of lack of medical care and counselling.
It's an annual charity event, and because they are so close to where I lived this year, I just have to go and look.

Last year, over 8,5 million euros was raised. I bet we'll raise even more this year.
Wow, that sounds awesome. Have fun!
I ate alcoholic chocolate. Lots of it.

I just slapped a kid at work, Not hard but enough for it to make a good sound.
He is thins kid well call Goldie locks, he smells and never shuts up. He is one of those kids that is realyl nice in an annoying gets in your space touches you while grabbing your stuff.
Well he walks up behind me and starts punching me in the back, not hard but enough for me to tell him to knock it off, so he keeps doing it. I reach out to push his face away but it ended up being a slap. A bunch of people went silent and just laughed at him. Then he said he would deck me if we were not at work.
If I get fired over this that would be amazing.

I kinda hope you do. Noah, you need to be free.
