Herroooo.
I think I might be back for a bit. I'm posting this as its own topic because I'm not sure how I should jump back into things.
I'm eighteen now, I'm in college and I cut off most of my hair and dyed it purple. It is now blue. Nothing else has really changed.
So, hello everyone.
I was just thinking, "I live so close to Kit now!" haha. But anyway, today college really fucking sucks.
I love your hair.
This is why the Egyptians said I don't know what it is, but I just think we should really build a big simple building. I don't know why, but, I'm gonna enslave fifty thousand people and do it. And don't ask me why.
Thanks! I just cut it off three weeks ago.
Sorry to hear you had a bad day. Is Purchase as much of a hipster hell-hole as you expected?
Yeah, it's pretty bad. No one is serious about learning. Everyone just fucks each other and smokes their hookahs in the quad.
But outside of the people, this has been the worst experience of my life, and I truly regret going to college. Purchase really fucked me over today.
Stick it out for the rest of the year before making the decision as to whether or not you'll stay in.
Yeah, I can only say it's best if you can do this too. Hopefully then you can transfer somewhere better later.
also you should stick it out at the cult
Stick it out for the rest of the year before making the decision as to whether or not you'll stay in.
Aw, I've missed you too!
But I'm not really sure if I'm staying or not, and not by personal choice. I received an email today from the finances department saying that I still owe $1600, even though my father took out a loan and it covered all of that. Apparently the lender split the loan into two, for the two semesters. So if this isn't figured out I'm being kicked out.
Also, I was not given the meal plan that I wanted. I can only eat 65 meals this semester, or 21 meals per month. I can't switch to another meal plan unless I want to pay an extra $2000. So I might be a size four by Christmas.
I remember the first year being shitty for me in the same financial sense. I had to get a lot of weird loans, pretty much due to the same situation, and they forced a meal plan on me, etc etc etc. I used a few bureaucratic loopholes to escape their clutches in the spring. it meant working part time jobs and a lot of other crappy things, but it only got better after the second year (when I figured out my major, etc etc).
Dropping out now (unless you have a very specific place you want to go and a plan on how to get there and get through the same situation again) is not a great idea.
I've applied to a few places around here but no one has called me.
If worse comes to worst I could transfer my credits (a whopping sixteen) to a community college near where I live, do that for a year and a half, work during that time and hopefully move on to a real college.
Although I'm sure there are cases of people jumping out of University to CC only to come roaring back in college, I haven't seen many people successfully making that leap.
Hey Caitlin!

Hey, Pete!
I finally got around to reading The Contortionist's Handbook. It was well worth the wait.

Your blue hair is ugly.
It sounds like you're at the wrong college, for sure, not college entirely being a mistake. My first two years were good and the third was a disaster.
Although I'd totes go to a college where you could openly smoke hookah.
There is hope, but not for us.
every college is filled with people who do not care and have sex and do hookah. not going to escape that, ever.

That was uncalled for. I happen to love my hair.
And Levi, I know that. But I feel like getting out of an "art" school would help a little. It's my fault though; I clearly did not do enough college research last autumn.
No, stay!!!
I love when you're here Caitlin!!
I LOVE FUCKING TREES
and I was pretty sure you were going to be stumped.
Mike, you have no idea how much I've missed you. I'll stay.
It is certainly nice to see someone here once again who I have faith in being a regular member.
A definite departure from the ordinary and a welcome one at that.
ok, sure.
stop editing things. commit!

Welcome back.
Another vote for "Fucking Love The Hair."

Ahhh, art school. I was gonna say you should hang with the physics nerds to get a different perspective of college students. They like to sleep around, but they won't notice a naked model walk into a room if they're in the midst of a heated debate over whether or not string theory is as overpopularized as Ida.

I couldn't find a similar noise by itself so I just thought you should know that when I read this, I made the noise he makes at 6 minutes and 30 seconds

I'm glad you liked it!

I totally had that sound in my head before I listened to the video! I think I we have ESPN.
Boo! I was the first to try to comment in this thread right when my internet connection cut out.
Anyway it's nice to see you back, like your new look, and hope the whole college thing works out.

I believe you mean PSP.
Welcome back!
I saw your picture on LastFM and was surprised, hehe. It's hard to see what your hair really looks like though, so I/we need another picture, pwetty please.
I want to be your medicine
I want to feed the sparrow in your heart
Welcome back. As I said before, I think you look beautiful.

College is full of morons. Some of the people in my course should have been scrubbing toilets. There. I SAID IT, GUYS. I'm an elitist.
But you should stick it out, because it's worth the education, if you work towards educating yourself at the same time.

It is so insane that you have to spend that much money on something you might have a change of heart about.
Before the new year it is free to study in Sweden even for abroad students. Now it's only free for people from the EU, and the EEA countries.

Welcome back! I hope you manage to stick it out with school.
I want to see more blue hair pictures!
Why did you leave? Why did you return?
I'm going to stick it out with school, I just don't know which one yet.
And hello to everyone!
Hattie, I left because I felt a little bored with this, mostly because school was ending and I was a lot busier socially. And I came back because school started and I'm a little bored with it and I'm less busy socially.
And and I don't want to actually post pictures on this thread of me, I'd feel incredibly vain, so just add me on Facebook.

As much as I love seeing you around here, if it comes down to be social in real life or being social on the Internet, always choose the former. It's college...go have some experiences.
(of course, if your phone has a data plan, you'll always have The Cult in your pocket)
Oh, I know. On weekends I have no time for the Internet, but during the week all of my friends are usually in class, doing homework or practicing their instruments. And on weeknights I go to improv. But during the day I get a little bored.

I got so used to the blue hair from FB that I sat there when you said it had only been 3 weeks going "Really?" Like I said on FB, do it while you can. Of course, if you find yourself in a situation where blue hair will keep you from getting jobs and such, you might want to think about trying a darker natural shade. I like the blue, but one of the reasons I do is that the darker contrast brings out the rest of your features, since you, like me, are pale.

For some reason that just sounded wrong to me. I mean, always having The Cult in your pocket sounds more like a pick up line you say in whispers during class in high school. "Hey baby, I got The Cult in my pocket, why don't we ditch this class and find a quiet place for me to show it to you."

Welcome back. Love the hair, enjoy that time in your life when you can get away with it.
Maybe i missed this earlier in the thread but where about are you going to school
Best advice I´ve read so far.
Me: new
Favorite color: blue
The only thing keeping me from going mad is my bad memory.
Gotcha
Maybe i missed this earlier in the thread but where about are you going to school
Right now I go to Purchase College. It's near New York City. It's predominately an art school, and it's cheap(ish).
Freemena, that's what I've been worrying about. I'd really like to get a job, but I know that employers aren't usually keen on strangely-colored hair. Incidentally, I haven't had brown hair (my natural hair color) since I was in ninth grade, and I've been toying with switching back to that.
Let me lay a bit of my infinite wisdom on you.
Freshmen year of college was one of the worst years of my life. I didn't know anyone on campus and my roommates were huge douches who often came home late at night drunk.
I had a gigantic birthday card on my door signed by a whole mess of people. One night my roommate came home drunk and drew a giant penis on it.
I'm getting off point. Sophomore year wasn't much better but during the second semester of it, I met a guy in one of my classes who became one of my best friends during college (Thanks to this guy I had good roommates for the rest of college). This year I even met the coolest teacher I ever had who I, to this day, still get together with sometimes and have dinner with, play with her daughter etc..
Junior year was awesome. I had those friends I made through my friend mentioned earlier AND met 3 women who befriended me this year who took me to get a makeover (I wasn't attracting too many women, or if I was, wasn't executing a good followthrough) and invited me to some get togethers.
Senior year was great. Around Halloween (my time to have fun), me and this other guy competed in a costume contest. Pretty soon I was part of the biggest group of friends I had ever had. Many social events and movie nights and fun dinners commenced. I even had my first REAL date in like..well ever.
Point is, the longer you stick with this thing, the more likely it is to pay off. I went to school in Boca and near everyone popular was all the same (douchy frat guys and bimbo gals) but I found my place and loved it eventually.
And yes, there were tough classes that often got in the way of having fun. (Study groups help- but remember that often times friends can distract you from studying-pick and choose)
Just take a look at all the support you have from all of us. When you get down on yourself, we're all here and have your back.
I LOVE FUCKING TREES
and I was pretty sure you were going to be stumped.
Are you a West Coast girl? I´m originally from San Diego and I remember when I went east for school; Michigan; sucked; serious culture shock. Just thought of that because of your comment about employers not hiring those with "strangely-colored hair." Lots of schools in Cali, and lots of job opportunities for those with hair of every persuasion
You could check out SDSU. Look for an apartment in PB. If you have brown hair there you stand out. Blue, not so much.
The only thing keeping me from going mad is my bad memory.
Thanks, Mike! If I ever need to vent I'll Facebook you. But as a follow-up, I've fixed most of my problems. Or, rather, they will be taken care of within the week.
And no, I'm not from the West Coast. I'm from upstate New York.

welcome back! how's college?
